2021 Road King Special - HD Detachable Vented Windshield

I have a Windsplitter like yours on my 2020 RKS. Love it. 100 mph smooth as glass. Vent about 25% open eliminates buffeting. Problem: You probably notice the shield does not lock to the bike. Bad guy can pull it right off. Solution: I fab’d two stainless tabs with horizontal slots in them; one on each side that secures the shield to the bike at the top studs and allows me to rock the shield fore and aft. Rocking the shield forward effectively raises the top of the shield pushing the bubble above my head. I’m 6’0”. Works great and shield is secured.

I like the looks of it. I am wondering about the height... the top of my stock softail windshield is right at eye level for me and I hate it, I need a lower height windshield. This one looks lower but I can't tell.

Great video ! I’m looking at this windshield and the 20” from Harley , if you could do it over again would you still buy this slightly smaller wind splitter with the vent or get the big dog 20” with more coverage but no vent? Thanks in advance and take care

I am going to be installing a vent on my aftermarket windshield. I am going to put it a little lower and see what happens. Hopefully it stops making me feel like a punch drunk boxer.

@@diego2246 The ability to vent helps some. I’ve never put much thought into wind noise since it’s a motorcycle.

I like it a lot. Not sure what you mean by louder. It reduces the wind across my head and body so I’d say it’s quieter than without but the real key is wind fatigue at high speeds.

@@emilbacelic8586 I did, measuring from the top of the headlight bucket straight up is about 15”. It also offers about 2” of pullback. So if I measure straight along the windshield from the top of the headlight I get 17”. Hope that makes sense and helps you out. Happy Holidays!

What to do when the Road King 2008 windshield fastener doesn't hold?

I’m not sure what you mean. You could try replacing the fastener or if it’s coming loose add a drop of Blue lock tight to the fastener if it’s threaded. Hope that helps.
