"Bless you if you have someone in your life who likes really long sock legs" 8" long legs, 10" long feet. And he's 12!!!! It's definitely a challenge to knit him socks, but he wears them literally every day, and has a tendency to yoink them out of my hands when I'm trying to hand them to him. It's worth it

I started knitting just a few years back with the intention of being able to knit my own socks - your video reminds me of about just that excitement when I actually held my first self made knitted socks in my hands 🤩☺️

I know I'm really late to watching this video, but I love seeing the socks people knit. Just the different yarns are interesting enough, but add a texture and I'm swooning! Isn't it funny how we remember the patterns and yarn we used for many of our items? It's like we have it ingrained in our brains. My SNK friends laugh at me because when I bring a finished item, I name all the colors with the dyer/colorway, tell the size needle, etc. "You sound like a Vlog!" Guess I've learned a few things from y'all. I have a pair of angora socks that probably should be slippers, but they are so toasty and my office is so cold. When I wear them with boots, the fibers 'felt' to the inside of the boots and I have a difficult time getting them off, both the boots and the socks!

I guessed 52. I probably have 15 pair, some I never wear. I made my first several pairs of socks for my dad. He had a problem with edema in his legs and couldn’t tolerate tight socks.I only have one pair left that I made for him. He passed 12 years ago. Love your socks. I love the memories they evoke. Happy knitting.

My first pair was with worsted weight yarn and it really helped me with technique and motivation to keep working because they knit up so fast. I even did color changes. This was a fun video! 💕🧦

I'm finding that knitting socks takes me out of my comfort zone colourwise because I can wear any colour on my feet even if the colour doesn't suit me, whereas a jumper/sweater is up by my face and if its a colour like yellow which makes me look ill then I don't wear it. I still like yellow so adding it to socks is great. I still steer towards favourite coloured yarns of course but there are some amazing colourways out there that I'm getting excited to knit into socks💗

You can use a pasta drying rack to dry your socks. They’re cheap, easy to store between uses and small enough to put on a table top.

It was so cool to see your sock collection Natalie! I still have my first pair of socks too, I knit them in an acrylic/nylon blend to see if I could actually knit them and was so amazed when I turned that first heel and was totally hooked! I haven’t worn that pair, but they are a fun reminder of the start of this sock obsession!

in traditional "farm" socks where im from that felting is like "peak sock" because it means they'll be denser and not let anything through. its definitely not considered a bad thing

I had to thin out my sock drawer this winter…I culled about two dozen from the pile. Two of my daughters took a bunch to wear as bed socks. (My drawer only holds 90 pair without doubling up.) I used to hand knit all my socks, but as my arthritis has gotten worse, I now own a CSM. It was a huge learning curve, but now I can still knit socks!

This was such a fun video to watch! I think the yarn for the socks at 13:04 was Gynx yarns Harry Potter self striping! I have a pair of shorties knit out of it that I haven’t worn in forever and this prompted me to dig them out!

i had guessed 36 pairs! so close :) my first pair of socks were knit from a print book from the library in the mid 2000s. i made them with sugar n cream cotton yarn, cuff down, heel flap and gusset…. bound off, tried them on, cried, ripped them out 🤣 didnt knit another pair until my sister told me about the FLK heel years later!!

This has been a great video. I'm actually knitting my first pair of socks using Regia yarn! I am using size 2 needles, because I bought what the shop here in South Africa had (Chiao Goo). I would love to know why you prefer Fish Lips Kiss heel to other types. Thanks!

My first pair of socks was knit of worsted weight Caron Simply Soft yarn using a KZbin tutorial! They're super thick and way too big for me since I used a heel flap and gusset and I have really flat feet, but I had so much fun and learned a lot! I only really wear them around the house these days, and not for too long since they're not very breathable or stretchy. But my socks tend to wear down a little faster than yours since I have bad feet and I wash my superwash socks in the washing machine (oops, lol). I never knew I could wear my wool socks more than once before washing, maybe mine will start to last a lot longer!

Thanks for the lovely and informative video ! I loved seeing all your socks ! Can't say I still have my first pair; once they were worn out, I tossed them away. Thought it made an excellent excuse for more sockyarn :) Glad you shared the laundry tip ! Up untill this video, I washed them every time I've worn them, but will gladly change this habit ! I was wondering though; once you've aired out your worn socks, do you stock them back into the sockdrawer first, or will tehy be lingering around the bedroom ( or elsewhere ) until you've worn them those four times ?

58 a bit high lol. I’m finding when I knit socks my cast on edge is too tight I’ve got fat cankles! I really need to find a new cast on or start on waste yarn and knit the cuffs last so it’s a cast off edge. Great to see your socks a great inspiration
@manonborst4769
@manonborst4769 2 жыл бұрын
There's a lot of different stretchy cast on's. Maybe try a couple of different ones. If it doesn't work you can add some extra stitches and decrease in the first knit row after the cuff.

I'm guessing 41 pairs of socks. How do you find the fit of the fish lips kiss heel? I know you really enjoy knitting it, but I find that short row heels (or afterthought heels for that matter) tend to slowly slide down my feet when I wear them. If I knit a heel flap and gusset however the socks stay up great and I have zero troubles wearing them all day. The flk heel seems nice to knit but I'm afraid that I'll be pulling up my socks all day if I knit them.
