2021 SPECIALIZED DIVERGE SPORT CARBON (FUTURE SHOCK 1.5) *$2900?!?*

specialized diverge sport carbon 2021 gravel bike can be ran either 700c or 650b wheels and comes standard with a future shock 1.5. it retails for 2900 and comes with dt swiss g540 wheels.
If you looking for a very nice gravel bike to get into the sport and don't want to lack performance without spending swokrs type money then this is the bike for you.
Everything you could possibly need to start out on your gravel adventure.

I own a 2019 expert and I cannot express how much i love my Diverge. I just hop on and i'll decide as i go. If i want to ride road, no problem, if i want to hop on some dirt trail, no problem! It's a no brainer if you're looking to get a bike that can do pretty much anything right out of the box or bike shop.

Great review as usual. keep up the great work. I have this same bike and love it. Have 2 sets of wheels. c38 roval wheelset with 28' tires for the road and the stock Pathfinders for gravel etc. Test rode my friend's Roubaix recently. Loved that bike also but with the rovals on the diverge it's pretty close to riding like the Robaix. Tire clearance of 47 on the diverge is amazing. Super comfortable and plenty of speed. 💪 😊

My 2018 Diverge Comp has the 9R carbon frame, all Shimano 105 kit except for front crankset, and cost $3,000 before taxes. This bike has 8R carbon but now cost $3,300. I guess supply and demand. I really like my bike but they are expensive for what you get, and now even more.

how would you decide between this bike and the 2021 roubaix sport carbon? if you swap out the diverge wheelset with a lighter road wheelset are they pretty similar? or is the roubaix still a clear winner on the road?

Hi, I own a 2020 Diverge X1 with Future shock 1.5 and I would like to remove it. I have already bought a new specialized fork with no oversized steer but the swap isn´t that easy as I thought since I need another upper bearing and lock ring. Have you already done something like this? Do you know which upper bearing and lock ring I may need? Thanks a lot!

honestly, for the hydralic model I would have to guess around 150 dollars but the sport comes with the spring model so there is no maintaince to it and I dont think the hydralic model will neeed to have alot of maintaince too it

okay lemme see, what are you using it more for, the grx is more aimed towards gravel and has a stronger clutch for the rear derailleur so that would make way more sense to go that route if you do take it off road.... its a really nice group and if you do ride on the road turn the rear clutch off and its just as smooth as the ultegra group on the road :))

I've ridden both grx and ultegra mechanical and di2. Mechanical both are pretty much the same. Crisp shifting, rear mech changes a bit slower due to the clutch but turn it off and you're good. Braking feel, feels better on grx, the initial slap onto the rotors is a bit more noticeable, braking feels a bit more modular as well compared to ultegra. Other than that not a massive difference, gearing range is nice but I wish shimano had gone with a 50 tooth on the big ring, and 29-30 tooth in the small ring. Would have been nice to get that extra range.

As a casual rider, that has an older Specialized Tricross, Aluminum frame, would I be happy with the Diverge Sport and not notice the difference that the Comp has? Not sure the extra cost of the Comp would benefit or be worth it to me. What do you think?

I like the 2021 version better compared to the 2022...I rather shimano GRX 2x instead of the sram 1x drive train on the 2022..I noticed alot the bikes that had shimano drive trains last year in 2021 changed this year in 2022 to Sram..I guess it was easier to get Sram USA parts vs shimano Japanese parts during the pandemic time..if I'm not mistaken they did the same thing to the 2022 tarmac sl7 pro compared to the 2021 version

Yes a lot of them did that, but also I “THINK” there might be a newer version of the grx coming out soon, only reason I think that is because of the brother group Ultegra got a face lift
