This Swedish SMR is a top of the line military ration that is right on par with the US MRE, British SMR, or Canadian IMP - absolutely worth coming back to for other menus or it's 24 hour variant. Truly one of the best, with memorably delectable dessert snacks and smooth coffee. Up next for Sweden is a nifty survival ration and a 24 hour freeze dried version.

My bone marrow transplant nurse asked why i was watching mre review videos if i couldnt eat any food from the chemotherapy.. said it mustve been "torture"...she just didnt understand. Thanks for filling me up when my stomach had to stay empty. Really helped keep me sane and reminded of better times watching your videos from home 😊 Edit update : should find out this week if I have to do radiation to complete this treatment. Wish me luck y'all! Thanks for all the kindness everyone, it really helps getting these nice little message updates. Helps keep my mind positive!

I am from Sweden, and my mother works as a paramedic and was stationed at military bases a few times several years ago, and she was sometimes given unused rations, and then gave them to me. They were pretty awesome, actually - they had breakfast, lunch, dinner, berry-flavoured drinks, chocolate bars, and various other cool food items.

Did you ever get sick from them? I’ve heard some horror stories
@Peter_1986
@Peter_1986 5 ай бұрын
@@ChocoLTRose No, they were simply unused rations. There was nothing wrong with them at all. All of the food items were dry and made to last for an extremely long time, and they were either eaten like that (like biscuits, for example), or prepared by putting them in hot water for a while.

FRHs are insufficient if you are in the Arctic, so boiling the rations to heat them is usually done. You need a fire source for colder months anyways. Though that dont mean stuff always gets cooked all the way trough. Vivid memories of eating fish in Tomato sauce with half-cooked rice in -25 degree weather. Good times. We still use FRHs but it's mostly specialist roles.
@SonsOfLorgar

In the much milder climate of the Scania region, FRHs and 24h meals are the norm on the first day of the contract obligated homeguard exercises. Also often due to late spring/early autumn wildfire hazard restrictions.

Fun, isn't it? The water you pour into the bag is boiling, but as you're outside, it gets colder fast and the food in the bag doesn't rehydrate properly and you end up eating half cold, crunchy food of the bag.

Just thought that I'd pass this along. Tasting History with Max Miller had a video on SOS and military food, and he referenced you. Might be worth your time to give it a look. Bravo Zulu, good sir.

It started with tacos in the early-mid 1990ies, often introduced via foreign exchange students coming back from their highschool year in the west and south western US states.

I'm a nurse and almost permanently paralyzed myself after trying to lift a patient at work (disc in lower back exploded into my spinal cord) and I watched Steve's videos during my entire 1-year recovery when being rehabbed. These videos really helped get me through that time. You're a legend man.

Nice to see these on the channel! Used to eat the 24 hour meals packs when I was doing post-apocalypse larp a few years ago. Delicious and filling, those kept me going even on the hottest of days and the dried fruit, protein bar and peanuts were good "emergency" snacks on the go.

You can do this dude, it hurts to hurt, but it hurts more to keep hurting others around you. Addiction sucks. But it's just a game you're playing against your brain, and it's a game you can absolutely win. Keep it up.

It does get easier. I had a heck of a time, but last July was 30 years sober for me. I did 90 meetings in 90 days, and found a great sponsor. I continued with meetings, and It really helped to have someone to work with me through the hard part of finding the reasons for my drinking, and working on them. All the best to you.

I mean, just the way he describes stuff...he single handedly brought the word "delectable" back from oblivion, and like the way he described the peanuts - how many of us could come up with even one or two words about a peanut? And yet, we hang on his every word. 😂
