manually adjustable passenger seat, no headrest for 2nd row middle seat, tiny unresponsive infotainment screen with huge bezels, no wireless charging, pretty bad rear camera, even smaller screen when u use android auto/ apple carplay,. its not even gonna be that cheap anymore, its honestly missing way too much. btw door thud doesnt mean quality, it just means a heavier door.

I know it wouldnt be fair to compare the 4WD Safari with new one but I wish you had shown the capability of the new Safari compared to the older 2WD safari when tarmac ended. More like a breaking point. How far can each of these SUVs go off road condition (ofcourse not to the extent of damaging them) and if the new one has any catching up to do. Its is a legendary name in our market afterall :)

The New Safari is miles and miles ahead of the old Safari in terms of many vast aspects, the Omega Arc platform was the best thing that could ever happen to the new one, This evolution is the best thing the Safari could ever experience as a brand, especially for the Legacy the nameplate had and I feel that this new Safari would definitely will help take the legacy forward to the current and coming generation of buyers. This almost reminds me of our childhood- favourite cartoon, Pokémon, where some Pokémon evolved into something very different but would definitely be worth it!

I am on my second Safari now and definitely feel that the new Safari is a hot seller. It’s however not a hot stepper compared to its predecessor simply because it lacks the same appeal. But we have to move on right? So yes while my old Dicor and current Storme 400 are keepsake cars, if I did not own them and was in the market for a new suv, the new one is an excellent choice for the money I would put. So ya, old Safari dicor, storme or even turbo intercooler owners, if your car is well kept, continue to keep it as they are actually legends and great collectibles of the future. But now if you are looking for a new daily drive and you want this size - the new one ticks all the boxes.

My 3 litre vx with factory fitted air bags, ebd, reverse camera and lcd screens and offset mag wheels is still going strong. Trust me...the build is still solid. Just did a 2200 kms round trip in 4 days solo. The 3 litre is a bullet proof engine and will never let u down like the 2.2. It's a long stroke engine so I'm doing 100 kmph at just 1800 rpm on fifth gear. So my mileage is good. The highest I got on my recent trip was 16.8. I have fuel bills and the trip meter reading clicked togetjher to prove this . With offset mags..you can make it sway on the ghats till the tyre screeches. It doesn't topple over or fish tail like the Scorpio.

Agreed that 4WD would cost a lot more or any other options that enthusiasts would love. But then that's the thing. Offering a model that enthusiasts can choose makes the car just that much more memorable. Yes, a 4WD 2021 Safari would not sell much, but it would have kept the spirit of off-road enthusiasts alive and also would have retained those customers that enjoy these cars.

They didn't actually have to build a 4*4 version. They just had to showcase it. In reality nobody actually buys a 4*4 to be used in off-road conditions. It's a very very niche market. I honestly have never seen a 4*4 Safari before. Instead of calling this the Safari they could have made a Safari edition. Just like what they showcased with the Hexa. Either that or they should have brought this version ahead of the Harrier to avoid critisism.

A bit disappointed with not having 4x4 on this Safari, also its Front wheel drive. It doesn't do justice to the Safari name. So now TATA actually doesn't have any 4x4 in their portfolio. Since Hexa is also gone, that's actually sad to see Tata is heading towards Sudo SUVs. However as you said while buying many of us don't consider 4x4, so it doesn't make financial sense for Tata to continue this one. So may be in future looking at the response they should try to bring in the missing piece of the puzzle.

The notion that Tatas are expensive, unreliable mostly came from early cars. I have 2005 Indigo TDi LS BS3 with 2,55,000+ on odo crossed 2 lakh almost like 6-7yrs back before I moved outside India for work. It's still running fine with routine service. I re-registered it this year for another 5.

Hi Sirish, by far the best version of new safari reviews. You nailed the history class as well!. Agree with your comments, this is not a replacement for legendary Safari. My opinion is Tata should have reserved it for the next iteration with 4wd. Otherwise its a good 7 seater. What is wrong with naming it as Harrier XL or something like that? Why you wanted to play with a legendary model. quick example popping up is Ford Mustang 2 litre variant, its not a Mustang unless it has a V8 engine. Anyways, thanks again for the review.

The New Safari actually is so similar to the Discovery. The majority of Indian buyers don’t care about four wheel drive. Sad but true. The old Safaris had rather vague steering. And a very slushy gearbox. The Safari was always a bit of a ponderous and elephantine beast...but there is no doubt that it was extremely comfortable.
