My wife lost her job at a car dealership front office. My thoughts and prayers with all and particularly our great men and women at car dealerships. We'll get through this. Great video. I like Atlas. With a V6 :)

This is an old review, but I’m waiting on a 2022 Atlas SEL V6. Biggest difference between it and competitors was the size/space. The 3rd row and truck space and overall driver/passenger room was much better in the ATLAS. We test drove an Explorer, Pathfinder, and Jeep GCL. All 3 felt tiny compared to the Atlas.

I appreciate your complete honesty and enjoyed your review. I like the available Racing Green for 2021. Are adaptive headlights on the 2021 SEL and SEL Premium a first for 2021, or were they available on top of the line previous years of the Atlas?

The front and rear design refresh is a welcome change. Makes it more competitive to the newer three-row SUVs
@joei4ever4 жыл бұрын
that rant about third row space is pure BS. It is completely fine for a 6' person. Why would you slide 2nd row all the way back, there is so much room in second row that is just stupidity to have them all the way back. I do own an Atlas and have driven people and was driven in 3rd row and there is plenty of space.
@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville4 жыл бұрын
We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one! Thanks for checking out the video!
@joei4ever4 жыл бұрын
@@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville what you should be complaining is the lack of latches for kids car seats in third row. Unbelievable that they haven't included them even on this refresh, something that is a Must in any car. Every single other SUV I saw, has them. For big families this is a HUGE FAIL

I started to look for a new car back in February, but stopped due to Covid uncertainty! I resumed my search last Saturday, and it only took me three days to figure out what I wanna get, the 2021 Atlas ES 2.0 and which I got on Thursday :-) I know that features and specs differ between trims, so my ES (also the S trim) has the outer DRL at ON state, while the inner DRL are OFF, and I am wondering if this a trim related thing! Or is there a "secret" to have all DRL ON? Today is Sunday, so I will reach out to my dealer tomorrow, but thought that I share this here... Cheers

You make a great point about not enough trunk space - In your opinion, what is the next step up. Looking for a vehicle that is 6 seater + room for 2 dogs. Besides a suburban, is there anything else out there that is much better?

Great review. Is the Digital cockpit standard on all trim levels or is that part of a package like on the 2019-2020 model?
@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville4 жыл бұрын
It looks like based on what I can tell that it starts on the SEL... it may be an option on the SE.... I think it should be standard on the Atlas but 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for checking out the video, Carlos!

When you put a 2021 Atlas SEL Premium in reverse, does it as a default show you a split screen with overhead view and also the rear view camera? OR... does it always show you the back view... i prefer split screen

If you had the split screen enabled during the last power cycle it will be there!

Thanks for showing! I've been looking for videos on this car for sometime. Do you know if a hybrid or new engine is coming soon?
@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville4 жыл бұрын
Here’s the thing... they are *supposedly* releasing a fully electric car in the fall.... and they haven’t had a decent hybrid in years. I don’t think that jump will go smoothly. So I wouldn’t be overly shocked if we got a hybrid Atlas in a year or two Thanks for checking out the video, Steven!

I know that a diesel Atlas was planned, to compete with the Highlander, but it was scrapped post-TDI scandal. This left them with the two middling gas engines; the diesel would have been the engine to choose if it was still around. I think a mild-hybrid Atlas is likely for the next generation, since VW is doing that for all their European models.

What I think about the silver trim not matching on the front is get the R-Line ;). I would like to buy a '21 after a lot of comparisons and research, but none have made it to Southern CA. At lease not in my area. I'm guessing you got some because you are closer to TN where they are made. It's annoying that you can't build one online either yet there are dealers that have them. I believe you can open and close the hatch from the trunk switch on the drivers door also. Being that you are 6'1 and had excessive leg room in the second row I think your third row opinion would have been better had you adjusted the second row to a comfortable setting, then tried the 3rd. You had tons of head room too. Compared to the competition the trunk space and 3rd row are quite good too. Also in future reviews you should probably demonstrate how the second row (bench or captain) slides AND pivots allowing 3rd row access without having to remove a child seat. I don't say any of this because I'm some VW fan boy either, I've never owned one in my life. Just have done some research. The coolest thing you missed on the '21 SEL is the VW traffic jam assist which is level 2 autonomous driving.
@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville4 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear you can’t find one, Gabe! That’s frustrating I’m sure. I hadn’t heard about Traffic Jam Assist! Seems like it’s just like full stop/go adaptive cruise control, which I thought they already had 😆 Thanks for checking out the video!

Gotta say, I never really understand why virtually every review talks about the 3rd row with the 2nd row seats slid fully back. Like at least set the 2nd row to a place that is acceptably comfortable to you in that row then move back. You looked like you had a solid 6 inches for your knees in the 2nd row. What kind of douche bag would have the seats totally back if the person is getting smashed? Not that it's spacious, just always feels like there's this thing about presenting the 3rd row in the worst light possible (with every car). Did you also move the driver seat all the way back when talking about the second row? Sorry just a pet peeve. Appreciate the honesty otherwise.
@BachmanVolkswagenLouisville4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I get that. It definitely is a lot better with the second row slid up a bit. I think people in the second row naturally want to be as comfortable as possible so by default the second row seats are usually pretty far back. But of course that can be adjusted, even with the second row seats up it’s still not super comfy back there... lol... thanks for checking out the video, Paul!
