@@eugenehayden3571 Didn't the Nepalis who did this first fly to Lukla? Also no hate but starting from the summit would have been cooler. The way he did it any experienced pilot could do it, there doesn't seem much risk. You just have to get some expensive permit, which is probably why it still isn't a popular way of getting down the mountain. Definitely safer than going through the icefall, that's for sure.
@Andizu1 Жыл бұрын
@ramdas363 the air is too thin around the summit to carry a paraglider. Same reason why helicopters can't reach above camp 2/3. The paraglider would just plummet off the face of the mountain if he tried that.

This would be ideal for me. I'm exceptionally good going uphill, steep mountains, but I'm terrible at the descent with my long legs and limbs. I would consider training to be a decent paraglider if I were to ever try scaling up Mt. Everest. Seems much more efficient and safe.

@@TimesUp777 that is a really good point, I'm not a professional climber, and could never dream to afford to climb Everest nor be in that physical condition. If you’re a highly experienced paraglider, the weather is stable, and you have a clear landing zone planned, paragliding from the top of Mount Everest can be safer than descending on foot. This assumes you have the right equipment, oxygen supply, and understanding of Himalayan wind patterns. For the average climber, however, the inherent risks of paragliding make the descent on foot the safer choice.

Could you rescue someone like this? Paraglide them off the mountain? I guess in a few years there will be rescue drones capable of taking people off the mountain. By "a few years" I mean at some point in the future drones will ber able to fly up to a person and if someone can attach them, fly them back down. I know the air gets thin but still.

4:52 Not very Pro move as you were more worried about the camera than killing your wing hence it & you got gusted backwards. Do that again and a bigger gust = bigger problems. Since you didn't launch from the top, if I take off anywhere, even 20 feet up Everest it too would be considered a flight off Everest. Regardless a bold flight
