0:35 Imagine after weeks of preparation, hiking and acclimatizing you are finally located at a base camp for k2, ready for the final climb but when you look up you see some random dude frolocking through the air with ease :D :D
@simpleuser018 ай бұрын
Thats not the Base camp for K2 but it is one of the camps up the slopes of Broad Peak. K2 is further in the distance.

It was amazing!!! I'll admit, I don't have the guts to do that but all respect to the paraglider, I admit I got scared because I thought he was was going to run into one of the mountains or having trouble dealing with a storm coming in.

They say aircraft (helicopters) cannot fly high on Everest or K2 due to the altitude and air being so thin that the rotors cannot create lift...and yet there seems to be plenty of air and lift for these paragliders.
@eriklerougeuh5772 Жыл бұрын
actually its true, the air is not dense, but depending of your weight and surface of wings, its largely enough for paragliding, helice plane can climb to 30km whereas helicopter reccord is 12km..some bird have been spotted at 12km, they can gain high speed of wind for migrate and avoid clouds, but their problem for go higher is more about energy loss than lift charge since 10km altitude is around -50°c. in addition even with low air density, you can use the wind, in mountain you have often ascending and descending wind, so it can be very easy a bit like avoiding rock when you swim in river, you dont need effort for go forward only for dodge. but if you misread the wind, you can crash. and max altitude havent same meaning around the world, due to earth rotation, you can go higher at equator and tropic, but are limited on pole

If air goes up, you go up. Clouds are the top of thermals. He was disappointed he was at cloudbase because the lift ends there as the dew point is reached and the moisture condenses and it was slightly under the top of K2. The world record for paragliders is 30,000 feet+ (Ewa Wiśnierska. I think maybe 33K or 10,000 meters)
@pablo77bar60 Жыл бұрын
Actually planes can and have done before .... but no usual due the high possibility of winds climbing from the mountain and due to possible emergências
@woodyarts73 Жыл бұрын
Lift on helicopters is generated by the air pressure difference between the bottom and top surfaces of the rotor blades. The thinner the air, the less the pressure difference. Hence helicopter performance can degrade with altitude. This is not the case for paragliders. Their propellers are not used to generate lift. They are used to create forward motion.

They are using oxygen, right? It doesn't look like they are but they must be because going up to that altitude that fast with oxygen would be fatal right?

How is this possible? Are you not concerned about wind danger in this area? How do you gain altitude also?
@DCM8828 Жыл бұрын
I think your weight is like the kite's string, and you climb because of the vector addition of downward force (your weight) and horizontal wind force. Of course, upward draft is a bonus.

Such an amazing video my friend. It surely inspires us to worship the Lord who created the heavens and the earth. Psalm 90: 1 - 2 Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

How do you manage to breathe when you are higher than 8800 meters? While all mountaineers need it?
@cabanford Жыл бұрын
Because you're basically just sitting. Very low oxygen needs (unlike climbing with heavy loads). Still risky without oxygen though
