Sam you killed it on this comparison video. Both very nice luxury 3 row crossover SUV’s. I feel the Acura is more modern and contemporary in its approach, where as the Lincoln stays true to its heritage and appeals to the older clientele. Lots of wood and plastic faux chrome on the interior - nice but over stated. The ride and comfort of the new MDX is undeniable. It’s is quiet and uneventful, you just have this level of confidence that the Acura will get you there. Love the ambient lights on the dash of the Acura as well. Just more modern in its approach. Great video!

@@timberlinecline3667 sure if you like fake ass looking wood accents and cheap faux plastic chrome finishes. Explain one thing (other than the power plant) that the Lincoln excels in? Drive the two, and you will see. Super handling all wheel drive with torque vectoring really drives this unit. Having the ability to personalize the drivetrain, throttle response, suspension setting and steering feel makes this a dynamite drive.

Chris Holmes You are just dead wrong on your observation. I bought the 2020 Lincoln Aviator and I can compare it to a true luxury vehicle I owed and still have the 1997 Lexus LS 400. That care was a dream brand new and still runs can’t seem to part with her. Aviator is a solid beautiful car inside and out. Just drove her through a snow storm and she didn’t miss a beat (AWD). I felt safe!! The service at Ford Lincoln in Roseville,CA are so professional and service is the best auto service I’ve ever had from any dealership. Since I am an owner I guess my review isn’t sitting on the sidelines and dissing many fine cars out there.

I own a black label grand touring aviator and love it. A few things I would change but overall, an amazing ride. That 496 horsepower and 650 lb torque gives you whiplash.

@Norm T it's meant more to act like a nitrous hit but by using electric motor so it doesn't hurt the engine and give you a bit better gas mileage when driven very conservative. But you lose 1k lbs in towing. Not good for me as my boat with trailer is already at about 6500lbs

I have the exact same. Bought mine in September 2019 and I’ve never regretted my decision. I searched and test drove many SUVs in it’s class and none impressed me as much as the Aviator. Range Rover, Lexus, Acura, Chevy, Cadillac and Infiniti...Lincoln won us over!

I test drove both recently and i find the MDX to be very plastic feeling and little to no luxury. My money will be going on the Lincoln, probably not the Aviator, most likely the Nautilus as its redesigned for 2021 and looks just like the Aviator but no useless 3rd row.

Make sure to drive them both! We ended up with a black label Aviator and love it! The Nautilus is stuck with that 4 cylinder which always seems to be working too hard and the interior styling is ho hum with relatively cheap-feeling touches. Oh and the grandkids love that 3rd row...for some reason...:)

Sam, a very interesting comparison. Here is my story. I was very close to buying MDX Advanced. Initially, Acura offered no incentive when it launched 2022 MDX. So the price they offered was $62K USD. I had my budget set at a low 60K USD. So, I didn't even consider Aviator PHEV. Yet, I just bought an Aviator PHEV with 360 Plus and Element package cheaper by $500 than MDX including the Fed Tax Credit and the discount from the Lincoln dealer. For me, it was NO brainer at all. Yes, I admit that I don't have the HUD on my Aviator GT but have a cooling seat for the 2nd row. Aviator PHEV offers 500HP/630lbft and a better interior/luxury experience. The difference in the fuel cost will further save me $2000 over a few years. In this case, what would you pick? Is this still a touch choice? (by the way, GT has a 21 inch wheel instead of 22 inch one you tested. And the more weight at the bottom (battery) provides a bit smoother ride)

We had the first 2020 Explorer ST AWD in town and loved it with the 400 hp and 415 torque. Our 2 year lease was up but no 2022 Explorers ST's could be found. As we were sitting in the dealer to order one a truck pulled in with 3 loaded Aviator's. We drove it and loved it, it look's just like the one in your video but with every option including the 26, yes 26 speaker sound system. Now because the used car market is crazy right now 12/21 the dealer gave us $4000 less than what we paid for the Explorer ST When we leased it. So the real monthly cost of the 2 year lease was $167 a month. The Aviator AWD is awesome, the only thing we miss are the Brembo brakes that the ST had. We also had a loaded AWD 2014 MDX while a great car it was a dog compared to the ST or the Aviator.

After the previous MDX, has issues with their 8 speed automatic transmssion. Kudos to Acura for quickly changing that transmssion to a new 10 speed automatic. Problem solved and normally aspirated engine makes this MDX last longer than a turbocharged engine. Good Job Acura.

Mdx never had the 8speed lol it was the dreaded 9speed that cause Acura to lose a lot of their customers kudos to Acura for getting rid of it. The 10 speed is a blessing the shifting is butter smooth on my 21 tlx aspec.👍🏻

We’ve all heard about the launch issues this (and the Explorer) had. Just for fun last week I looked up lightly used ones. Not sure how I feel about ecoboost motors. Perhaps throwing a supercharger or turbo onto a small motor isn't the best Idea in terms of longevity.... However, Ford does make some very reliable cars. Maybe not their modern lineup but the earlier model f seriers and ranger, the 05-14 mustang the older model taurse and 500, the 03-08 explorer and sport trac, the 2011and 12 fusion, and the crown vic are all reliable cars. Ford like any company has reliable models and unreliable models.... But most importantly its also about how you take care of it and also who owned it b4 you did. Even brands like Toyota and Honda have some models with reliability issues (esp 1s with cvts) while trash companies like Bmw and Chrysler have some models that are really reliable. Anytime you but a car ur taking a gamble so never put too much faith in them. At the end of the day its man made so it's not eternal.

The MDX leases out about the same as the Aviator. At the end of the day all Acura has going for it is the performance. The avatar offers more luxury and the Genesis GV80 is overpriced and the Cadillac XT6 feels cheep and leases out about 100.00 less then the MDX. I was forced to get the MDX because my 2018 MDX was over the miles and did not hold its resale value and Acura made it the easiest to get out of the lease otherwise I would have gone for the Lincoln.

The MDX will have a more powerful option called Type S which will make more horsepower and better performance. Like the TLX Type S the MDX will be offered in a more powerful trim. The Lincoln has the black label plug in hybrid which makes close to 500 bhp

MDX was the worst car I bought. At 110000 miles the transmission went out. Extended warranty ran out one month before this event and it was not honored even though I had taken it into Accura months before complaining about transmission problesm. Head gasket blew out next. Over the life of the car, I spent over 7k in repairs besides maintainance.

The elephant in the room is that the Aviator is less reliable and depreciates at lot faster than the ACURA MDX. The AVIATOR is made on the Explorer base and, has inherited all of the Ford Explorer problems. The AVIATOR is nothing more than a luxury Ford Explorer.

Acura is Japanese sport luxury styling. I like it and normally Japanese styling is more aggressive. I’d be shocked if I got in a Lexus, Acura, or INFINITI and the styling wasn’t aggressive. It’s literally just a matter of preference if you ask me. If I want clean cut lines I would get a GV80 and if I want sporty styling I’d get an MDX.

Ok 1st off , u can't compare the 2 really bc the type-s isn't out yet, n u picked a winner off of SPEED. Which doesn't give the acura any chance bc its not fast . 2nd anyone who knows cars, suv's, and trucks , would know that the acura is a new generation model, bc its a good suv n moves units. The Lincoln is a new model of a failed suv that didn't move units ,n was a terrible suv before. The Lincoln is clearly overpriced , which u pointed out ,but some how back tracked on their the same bc of different packages. HOW? When the acura fully loaded is topped at 70,000, and the Lincoln at 80,000 or beyond . IDK, to me u gave the acura , a bad rep , when clearly ur out for speed but have a base model mdx. There so much more than speed when driving the 2 , u got room , gas, reliability, or even design and features . N acura n those phases wins hands down .

Simple..they will be on sale at the Acura dealerships used car lots...lol. The MDX is overall modern, well refined and that V6 in the MDX is more reliable than a wood burning stove

Lincoln way better , that's a laugh. Look at the gap n time on the last Aviator to this new Aviator. N basically all those old models r trash or not even on the road . Acura mdx has moved way more units , that's y they have a new model , not a revived model that their bringing back bc it failed before. LMAO!

@@mikenorman6665 I do know about vehicles. The aviator has nicer materials, better features, Much more luxury touches, quicker, and a better ride quality. The Acura is a very nice vehicle with good reliability (although the mdx was in most unreliable vehicles) and a good value but comparing the two, the aviator is a nicer vehicle

@@tylerlewis507 own 2 mdx never read ,heard ,or even researched the mdx being most unreliable vechicle. NEVER, if any thing the Aviator would fit that category perfectly. Aviator is trash always has been only thing I give u is it has lil bit more luxury, bc acura isn't all luxury, it's sport as well. Look how long the Aviator disappeared and now it's back , but the so called most unreliable acura keeps coming with a new model every year. N probably a new design every 5 years , which means it sells . Ppl only talk about the Aviator bc its fast , that's it that's all. Another lease vehicle to play with , not own , especially for that price ,black label, 80,000 . So n comparing the 2 the mdx is a better value vehicle.
