I read on one of the private FB groups that this race was supposed to be the MDX Type S vs the GV80, but Genesis wouldn't allow it with their press car (not sure why). So Sam had to make a last minute change and instead added the MDX to the Tremor vs ZR2 race.

@@nallis01 doubtful, as per C&D, they both trapped at 101mph. The GV80 was 0.1 seconds quicker to 60 and 1/4-mile however. But without brake boosting or launch control, the MDX was 0.3 seconds quicker to 60.

It would depend on your need. I’m a family guy, so the MDX would apply better to my needs. Not only that, but the Acura is build with superior engineering from Honda, so that Acura will outlast anything, with less repairs needed, than anything a Chevy could throw at it. Not to mention that the Acura will also hold its value better vs any American made car or truck. Stop me when I lie.

@@drivescene6747 the MDX is actually faster than the Q7 55 and GLE 450 going 5-60 according to Car and Driver. Q7 55 : 5-60 = 6.5 seconds GLE 450 : 5-60 = 6.0 seconds MDX Type S : 5.9 seconds Acura just needs to implement a proper launch control system, instead of having to break torque to 1,700 - 2,000 rpm which is a lot lower rpm compared to the Germans launch control. If the MDX Type S and TLX Type S had a proper launch control system the 0-60 numbers would have been a lot better. To prove my point Car and Driver tested a 2020 S4 B9.5 (same one that’s being sold today unchanged) doing 0-60 in 4.2 seconds but the 5-60 time is 5.7 seconds compared to the TLX Type S 0-60 in 4.9 seconds and 5-60 in 5.5 seconds.

Thats because the mdx raced a offroad vehicle with big tires the mdx barley beat the chevy and ford, the Zr2 even with the 6.2 v8 does 0-60 in 7.7 seconds thats slow. The chevy sliverado high country with the 6.2 engine does it in 5.4 seconds

@@TheChismFamily I don't think rotors have as much effect on rotational mass as heavy wheels since they are closer to the center of the hub. Plus, factory brembo blank rotors are very good. But, obviously, anywhere you can cut weight is good. Especially rotational weight

At 21 mpg. Lol. You can go to MDXers forum and see actually MDX Type S “OWNERS” getting over 21 mpg. I don’t even get the big hoopla about mpgs. Mpgs varies depending on the drivers. If you stay in the power band while driving you can expect to get less mpg, but if you drive softer and do the speed limit you can expect to get the advertised mpg or better.

Definitely gonna take the aftermarket to get the TLX sound on it it really needs it, Power wise they could've made 400hp on a bigger single turbo but my guess is they want to see Type-S's on the road with 200k+ miles vs Q50's with blown turbo's at 100k miles, twin turbo v8 bmw's with engine problems and turbo's going out, audi's with a million electrical problems, etc.. M340's are killing with the B58 but time will tell if they'll need rebuilds after 150k miles of hard driving. Type-S was never meant to beat the competition 2007-2008 TL couldn't touch a M5, 650, 550, S5, S6 but all of the above can't do 200k miles without a serious mechanical failure so i 100% agree it's disappointing that it can't keep up with the competition cause it weighs only 380lbs less than a Hellcat but at the same time it was never meant to not even 14 years ago.

Did you guys have the MDX in sport plus mode along with the transmission in “S” mode and not “d”?. I have the type s and the transmission has to always be manually put into sport mode by pressing the drive button a second time. Simply putting it in Sport mode does not change the transmission characteristics. It’s a completely different car when you add the transmission in sport mode.

The trucks with their transfercase and ground clearance will survive a snow storm with no momentum needed, just a light tap of the pedal. Also you can haul and rockcrawl offroad. My money is with the ZR2.

I'm an Acura guy. The reason a lot of us are disappointed with the MDX is that it really doesn't match up to other "luxury" SUV 0-60 times. It's literally a second slower than I know I had hoped for. Acura had the chance to make something very fast with the turbo, like a 4.5 second car at least. Same with the new turbo TLX.

Very odd, but cool race. The new F Series trucks are quick!! But I’m actually impressed by how well the MDX kept up, and even started pulling on them considering its down on power by a substantial margin. Yeah its lighter, but those trucks have way more power and the same 10-speed to offset the weight. I don’t understand the disappointment with the MDX. The Type-S is not about straight line speed anyway but the handling and features you get.

This channel kills me. The video quality is good and has some interesting race lineups. There's just so many botched races. People not knowing how to launch (even their own cars), not knowing how to line up for the roll races, and other random things. This video for instance; for one, how were you so shocked that the Chevy lost when it's the only NA motor and the heaviest vehicle? It's common sense. And wtf was that arm drop to start the race? No one who knows what they're doing drops their arms that slow. I don't even understand how that's what someone would think to do, despite experience level. Dropping your arms that slow causes confusion. It's just frustrating because this channel has great potential. It feels like the money is there but is lacking staff knowledge and experience. Oh, and we don't need to see the beginning of every race from 10 different damn angles before seeing the finish. Lol

congrats!! great choice!! out of these 3 definitely the tremor but. for keeping it stock i would eant the power boosts extra power for building it up i would want the coyote f150 because v8 f150s can handle up to 1200whp and run as fast as 8s in the 1/4 in short bed single cab and 9s in crew cab with just boost (supercharger or turbo) but the new 21+ coyote f150 cant be tuned so you can buy a whipple supercharger and get their base tunes which are around 700 to 750 hp wh8ch is nothing compared to the ones before. so v8 tremor for a v8 but less torque but whipple for 13k or more power with ecoboost?!? check out backroad driver they show s9me cool f150 stuff they have 2 f150sthat that they boosted and both were able to beat their c8 corvette and their 2020 gt500 and a friends ram trx no problem. BUT ive also seen eco boosts with tunes make big power on up to 700whp

I have 2021 Tremor 402A package fully loaded one and let me tell you friend, you made an amazing decision. Every truck I sat in just didn't even come close to the feel and look of the Tremor imo. I will warn you, the Tremor is a dude MAGNET and every guy on the planet is going to want to talk to you about it. I can't go to any gas station without some guy stopping me to compliment or ask me about it. Good luck on your Truck though. I truly hope you like it.

The MDX-S will lose. Its buildout is benchmarked against the base model, not against competitor sport model offerings. The S’ 0-60 is somewhere between 5.6-5.8 seconds to 60. The base model does the sprint in around 6.2 seconds or so. Firms like P2R Rev Racing offer performance bolt-on mods that will easily hack 1/2 seconds+ off those times for those who want to mess with their car’s powertrain.

@@Snookynibbles MDX Type S has already beaten the GV80 in few runs on this same channel recently and I have also done the same with my Type S vs a friend's GV80. Don't get me wrong, the Genesis is a very nice SUV. The Type S is also a much better handling vehicle around fast corners.

The Ford Tremor is a beast...MDX is a nice car but I would be somewhat embarrassed that the Ford is faster or as fast..The Chevy sounds great but just doesn't see to go anywhere. Great Video Sam!

Why would it be embarrassing? That Ford has a bigger displacement, twin turbos compared to the single turbo in MDX and the Ford has more HP and way more Torque

to think tremor is a bit heavier than if you get the more base powerboost hybrid which has gobs more power and way cheaper

The Tremor has heavier tires, the current model was available as a lower XLT equivalent trim or a more loaded Lariat trim, while the Powerboost makes more power it is also heavier GVWR is about 300lbs more than the same in a 3.5 EcoBoost, the F150 weight can vary by quite a bit depending on how equipped, the sunroof alone adds over 200lbs.

That MDX is nice. Wouldn't mind owning one. The ecoboost is going to beat these v8 trucks, even the f150 v8. I'd like to see it up against a 6.2L v8 though. Or does that ZR2 have that?

The ZR2 is equipped with 6.2 liter. This is Fords 3.5 TT Ecoboost vs Chevy 6.2 Ecotech. I have this motor/ trans combo in my truck and I love it, sometimes…miss that v8 roar tho.

The ZR2 is the 6.2 v8 but it is slow since the tires and more weight and lifts. The chevy high country 6.2 does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds and from 0-100 mph it does it in 13 seconds it would be a better battle
