2022 Chevy Suburban Z71: Is The Z71 Worth It?

Short Version - I can't pull the trigger because the frame actually dips down after the front seats, the ground clearance seems ridiculously low. Long Version - I've been buying Fords because they always seem to beat Chevy a little bit. I was going to get an Expedition Timberline, wife says we need a max. Ford does not offer a Timberline Max, so a Chevy Suburban Z71 6.2 seems like a good choice. I CAN get over the trapezoid screens, maybe the weird shifting buttons, but I CANNOT get over the frame. We'll see what the frame looks like on the 25s I guess. That being said the Expedition will get a makeover as well. If they have a Timberline max, I'll likely go that route. I have a family, I'm an outdoorsman in Wisconsin, and travel to Colorado for elk hunting. In Colorado we're self guided, back country, yes the ground clearance will make a difference. Especially for waterbars!

Would this a good vehicle to go outdoor camping? Or should I go for the new Toyota Sequoia? I love the extra space with the suburban. But I know the sequoia is better for off-road conditions.

Get the suburban. The sequoia is on its 1st year, there’s bound to be problems.

You could go camping in a Honda civic. But either vehicle will be fantastic off road. I was looking at the Sequoia as well, but the trucks coming onto the lot are already bought or reserved and to build a sequoia it’s a 2-3 year wait! I found my Suburban on the lot today in this Z71 trim and the test drive sold me. The auto 4wD kicks on without me able to notice. It’s very snowy up here and the icy road I went to try and drift it on was very slippery but this Suburban did not spin the wheels for more than a second and it didn’t cut power, it just grabbed and pulled, the antilock brake system is fantastic and so quiet compared to my 4Runner I traded in.

Ok you need to understand something The lifters will fail and chew on the cam 5.3 and 6.2 it’s the dynamic system that causes it. There is a class action lawsuit

quick review, not bad, BUT you did not mention HOW many child car seats fit. IMO you should inform parents of how many Latch pairs there are in the middle and third row seats, this is a big Family vehicle. thanks.
