The 2022 Ducati Multistrada V2S is an evolution of the Multistrada 950, but with some key changes. So do the changes make a better bike for those looking at Adventure Touring machines? In this video, I aim to cover not only what's new, but also how the bike stacks up in the key areas such as comfort, performance and kit. Great review as usual. I own the 2021 950S and absolutely love it. That induction roar is so addictive. Just got back from a 4600km ride and it performed brilliantly. You really don't need anymore power than what this bike can deliver. Although I have ridden the V4S and while it's very very good, it's just that bit bigger and the 950/V2 is so much more manageable.

The “Bag of nails…” reference to start up engine sound made me laugh 😆! Having owned a number of KTM’s they tend to be quite “mechanically noisy” too, I always equated it to having “left a spoon in the sink garbage disposal” on start up 🤪👍!

You liked it, I liked it. Looks great, too. I can't really see the point of 1200cc+ Adventure bikes. Love the Triumph Tiger 900, as well. I think if I was going to buy one of these - or, basically, any other bike, I'd do what I always do - wait a couple of years and buy a good, low milage S/H one, hopefully with a few accessories fitted to it, plus any recalls sorted out as well. The best way to get a good bike - and keeping the cost within a reasonable budget. Great review, as always. You're, probably, the best reviewer I've come across. Hope you manage to go full time soon.

I have the 2022 V2S. I have the taller seat option. Great bike. I find the seat a little hard after about 2 hours. My wife starts complaining after 30 minutes, don’t use that as any reference. Living in London, I do a lot of city riding. The 20 mph zones are a pain for a V twin. It’s just between 1st and 2nd gear. I use urban mode in town, it’s smoother at low speed. Out on the open road it’s great. I have the slightly taller screen option, wind and rain is kept off. I am 6”2.

Parts and servicing is expensive (my opinion) if you use the dealer. Very difficult to get technical information. Ducati do not share much, I have not found a work manual. I have not needed it either, but I was just interested.

I've owned a MTS950 for 4 years. It's a great bike but just paid £1,200 for the big setvice at 18,600 miles! Outrageous. As a result, I'll never buy another Ducati, however much fun they might be.

So impressed on a recent test ride I ordered one, downsized from a GSA1250 too. So much fun to ride and a brilliant all rounder, you’re right the exhaust sound in the mid range is addictive. Bought the travel version and the screen issue wasn’t too bad for me but I loved a Puig screen on my three GSs. Looking forward to picking it up in a few weeks..

Everyone seems to absolutely love this bike. I ride a Versys 650 and find the style of bike perfect for me, but I would like to end up with something more advanced and "nicer". I feel like this would be an upgrade across the board, but also the R1200GS is something that would be an amazing "final form" for my type of rider. I don't have money for either, but still feel torn hahaha

Your reviews of bikes and equipment are some of the best on KZbin. Clear, concise and to the point from a rider’s perspective . My concern with all the latest bikes is about reliability over the long term of all the tech. Ducati are real artists with their machines and engineering - could you perhaps meet a rider who has owned one for a couple of years and discuss the dealership, service , reliability & warranty experience? Another excellent review, telling us exactly what we need to know. I came close to buying the 950S a while back. Two things spoilt it for me, the windscreen issues, and the cost of the valve clearance check!! I have to agree with you, one of the best looking adventure style bikes out there. @@jeremycioe5700 I did research this on the forums, and me being 6'2" I don't think anyone came up with a successful solution to the problem. I even read about some riders getting rid of the 950 because they couldn't cope with the screen issues!! Such a shame because it is such a good bike.

Great review. I'm currently looking at moving towards an adventure bike for occasional lite off-road use on gravel roads only in NewZealand. The 937Testastreta is a great engine and never fails to make me grin. I currently own a Supersport 950s , but was tempted by the Tiger 900 (Another great bike) but after seeing this review I think I'll go with the multi V2 and get the "Enduro" pack. Love the sound of this engine and it has just a little more power over the Tiger 900. I test rode the V4, impressive bike but just enjoyed the V2 more.

I was recently looking to replace a Tiger 800 and test rode a 2023 Tiger 900. The cross plane crank isn't an improvement, and vibration is noticeable. So much so I ordered a a V2S. Too late for me but I believe Triumph have made some improvements for 2024 models to help remove some of the vibration.

The V4 poor fuel range some wiring harnessing and evap system problems the V2 better in most respects and is $28.4K in Aus (V2ST) with topbox.

I have had one for about 3 weeks; it’s my first bike so I can’t compare, but it’s bloody fantastic! I’m still running it in and not been above 6000 revs yet; but looking forwards to that. It has a four year transferable warranty which is very reassuring.

By adding a mra variable screen this reduces the screen noise not 100% but a significant amount. Having a v2 as a loan bike while my 1260s is in for service may i swap for 950s ??? Grate review 😊

Touring option on the V2S is £1,200 GBP here in Au. Panniers aside it doesn't say what one gets for that tho. We tend not to need heated grips. Wondering how much extra it is in the UK?

Great review, thank you. I'm looking to down size from my R1250GS. The NT1100 is not quite there for me yet. Honda could have done a much better job with the paint work colours and some electronic suspension would have been great also. Maybe in a year or two. Onto the Ducati which is on my radar, love everything about the bike but have reservations about the front down pipe corroding. I've seen a few one / two year old Multi's parked-up and they seem to be looking a bit "tatty" , down pipe looking grotty and some corrosion starting on fasteners etc. Is this a concern for yourself?

Yep I would agree the NT1100 is a decent bike, but it’s not there for me either. I only had the Ducati for two weeks, so not something I would have picked up on myself. It could just be down to how well the bikes have been looked after?

Thanks, great review. Can you help. I’ve got an Interceptor which I really like. Looking to step up. Want a bike with plenty of room, not cramped. Nice exhaust note, had a go on Z650RS but sound was bland. Thinking of Tracer or Tiger 660 or MS if I push the boat out. Just not sure whether to go with a bike with a screen, see so many reviews where screen gives more buffeting which I don’t want; could put up with a bit of wind noise. Should I stick with a naked?? Like the look of XSR900. Id appreciate your thoughts and suggestions on which to test ride, not easy as dealers don’t always have a demo in

Thanks Beverley, the whole screen No screen is a tough decision sometimes, but if you are riding longer distances or in poor weather it does make a big difference. You also have to be careful how people describe things. There is a difference between buffeting and wind noise, and whilst screens will generally produce the latter, not many create any problematic buffeting. It really depends on your height and the helmet you wear, but going for a bike with an adjustable screen means you’re likely to get a quiet ride. The screen on the MS is good, most Hondas I’ve tried have very effective screens as do Tigers.

as usual great video and very informative? however, a suggestion no one else seems to talk about reliability, this has a big influence on buying almost anything land rovers are stunning but i won't buy one simply because of the owner's reviews and remarks. Ducati KTM and even BMW have some issues with reliability. so on a scale of 1 being best and 10 don't buy it where do the bikes come, just an idea.

Hi Mick, Only having a bike a bike for, at most, a couple of weeks to review is why I suspect no one talks about reliability. If a bike has trouble whilst I’ve got it I’ll mention it, but I can’t talk about the long term ownership experience. Interestingly I own a KTM and a Land Rover, both of which are, if you go by online comments, terribly unreliable. But in tens of thousands of miles I’ve had no reliability issues with either. So i agree its a good idea to mentioned reliability, but that case only be done on long term owners reviews in my opinion.

My brother has an 1190 KTM which he's wrapped in after having owned a recalcitrant BMW and a Multistrada His partner rides a KTM 790. Point being they move between camps every few years over in dear old Switzerland. Pretty pricey 'bag of nails' for a retiree. I just Potter about on my CB500F. Only nails it gets are in the rear tyre.

Had a test ride as potential downside from my BMW r1200GSA. The bike is fantastic BUT the screen was a thing of torture for me at motorway speeds (I commute). Also the desmo valve service s £1000 at 18k miles. However, I have still worked out the servicing is about the same as than the BMW overall at the same distance. I am now researching screens and if I can find a convincing answer then it is likely going to be the next bike.

I have a 950S which I love anything a short arse (5ft 8 / 29inch leg) it is a challenge remove around. However o r question - what GoPro mount do you use on the Harold as I can't find a decent one. Thanks for the review;)

@@flexywing sadly no I don’t have it anymore. It was superb apart from servicing and spares costs. I had to replace the fuel sender unit and the cooling fan. But as a bike to ride it was probably the best I have owned. If it’s not too tall and you can do your own servicing or afford dealer costs, I strongly recommend one.

G’day from Australia, mate can I just ask quick question, i’m deciding between the Ducati Multi V2s and the Harley Sport Glide, both bikes you have reviewed (which I have watched many times:) It’s really hard to get bikes here to test ride so essentially all I can go by are reviews online. I’m after a bike that has a comfortable ride/suspension that I can just go for an hour ride on weekends, I don't really go that fast, just cruise around at 50km around the farming areas where I live. In your opinion which bike do you think might fit the brief the best? I have sat on both bikes and both were really comfortable. The Ducati has lots more safety feature, but I read that it doesn’t like going that slow and prefers to be going fast, did you think it was ok as slow speeds? The negative with the Sort glide is people said the rear suspension was too firm and gave back troubles. I’d grateful appreciate any feedback you can pass on. Thanks Andrew, yep these are quite different bikes. From the sounds of what you want it for either will do, but the Sportglide would maybe be the way to go. The Ducati is fine at slow speed, and I dont think the sportglide rear suspension is too firm, but thats easily remedied anyway

Excellent review, Tony. Is this the engine that doesn't have the desmodronic valves? It looks nice for an adventure bike. Nice-looking/sounding exhaust. Keeping the cat out of the way is a great idea. Not cheap with all the touring extras. It would certainly be fast enough for me.

Great review, very in tune with the things that riders want to know. However, I have one question. This bike costs £15,500 so its expensive. Why are manufacturers still fitting cigar lighters to motorbikes ? They should be fitting double or quad USB connections as standard. How long are riders going to accept this ?

Thanks for your kind words, much appreciated. I still find those power points useful. Lots of accessories like GPS and particularly heated gear come with that connection, so I find it really useful. USB sockets for example don’t have the power needed for heated jackets and gloves as an example.

@@aunoates6617 I use my powerlet for a compressor. Some bikes are coming with both now. V-strom 1050 has usb one side 12v socket the other. Best just to add a USB socket rather than replacing the 12v socket.

Looking for a motorcycle with electronic suspension to cope with the rapidly deteriorating macadam where I live and with which I can travel in comfort without sacrificing too much performance (I come from a sports-tourer with 140hp). As I'm not the tallest guy seat height is an important aspect. I'm following your reviews for clues as I'm undecided between the MS V2S, the new Africa Twin with the 19" front wheel and the KTM 1290 SAS which you highly praised in your review, sooner or later I'll have to come around to try them all. I was really hoping Ducati would’ve updated the front end styling, more akin to the V4, those flared beaks never did it for me, constantly making me think it’s doing its best interpretation of a Native Pacific Northwest tribe’s totem pole bird figurine. The old 1260 had this styling oddity too but at least the new V4 moves away from it. Other than the styling and well of course, the higher price…this does seem to be a fantastic middleweight option for those that don’t want the heft and physical size of a large bore ADV but still want some oomph. But then again, with the sort of power figures and trick suspension on the S model, it’s also kind of a stand out in the middleweight category. I’m in the market for a middleweight ADV/Sports Tourer and ahh…this bike IS tempting…that beak though! 😅

I want to help you improve your reviews. You need to not be so I like this or i like that. You need to be subjective in a way that compares it to its competition. How does it compare to the new Honda 1100 with DCT or not DCT. How does it compare to the Kawasaki Verses or the Suzuki or Triumph in the areas of Size, comfort price, suspension and control. Handling and braking. If you don’t do it in regard to other bikes, then what good is your review? How could someone watch this and use it to help them make any decision about what to do or what to expect. You might as well not even posted anything. Because its not a review its a ride. A review is a subjective comparison.

Thanks for your feedback, and in response I would I would disagree with your closing statement. A review and a comparison are two different things. I’m always objective in my reviews and each bike is reviewed on its own merits. To say it’s all ‘I like this it I like that’ suggests that you haven’t watched the reviews in detail. People seem get a lot from the reviews based on the comments I see, and I don’t see that a review has to be purely a comparison. I do where relevant put an element up against another bike, but it doesn’t have to be a key part of the video. Thanks for watching, but I suspect that given my format you won’t be watching any more, and that’s fine my style is just not for you.

Are you able to get heated seats? How does she handle the twistes? Any negatives?

@@jeremycioe5700 As far as I know, there's no option for heated seats on the 950/V2. This bike is great in corners, very direct and planted, and will change direction very easily for a 19" front. The suspension (on the S model) is one of the bike's greatest strengths IMO. As for negatives...1) I can't find a good solution to mount a GPS above the dashboard. 2) I needed to replace the windscreen (I went for an MRA vario and it improved things a lot). 3) Nope. That's it.

@@richardd9976 every deal ship I call is trying to get me to buy a V4. I have a Tuono but I rarely use it’s true power. I want something comfortable, carves up canyons, twisties & has around 125hp. If I could combine both bikes I’d be in heaven.
