My 2021 Force 29 expert came with arguably better rims (Stans Flow S1), the same brakes, a Fox 38 Performance and a Performance Elite DPX2. At $3500 usd the NX Eagle was acceptable and I think the less aggressive geo compared to the current model and the lack of a high pivot and a full alloy frame makes it more useable overall. It’s not half bad on smooth, easy trails, but it can eat on steep tech. Also the traction it generates on technical is insane. Plus external cable routing is nice.

still amazes me how Many brands rushed their latest bikes to the market with no real prototyping/testing happening, the GT/range is the perfect example of this, lots of wee issues which many are of poor design

Allegedly the range was designed over 3 years, so more likely just poor design, for the range at least.

@@alexchristie6426 i bought a range when it first came out, it rode like a tank, the wb grew too much and just felt null, some constant rattle that is something to do with suspension. When i looked to replace our enduro bikes this year, i deliberately didnt have any HP bikes on our list, HP is for DH bikes only. Several Norco Racers ended up back on their Modded Sights(more travel and custom link) for end of the season... I do feel like commencal finally got their shit together and made their bus into a usable Bike, the mullet design works for a race bike and play bike 100%

Great review thank you. A year later these are selling for £2.2-£2.5k brand new. At that money it’s tempting to get one and fit some lighter wheels….

Hi there - I have noticed the chainstay on the non-drive side is clamped to the axle with a bolt. Don't you think this is a weak spot in the construction?

Is the middle triangle ( underseatpost Y ) strong? Looks like it can break. More of an Enduro /DH bike right? Not an XC bike in my opinion. (16kg) but awesome GT.🎉 Thanks for all the details, enjoy!🎉

I thought adding volume tokens increased small bump sensitivity because you could use a lower pressure and rely on ramp up at the end of the stroke to prevent bottom out?
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
It can do Trent, though it depends on your spring rate and preferred sag. In the case of the ZEB on this GT Force, having three volume spacers in there meant we needed to run lower and lower pressures (and way too much sag) in order to get anywhere near using more than 70% of the travel. Also, when you shrink the available air volume that much, it can cause the suspension to spike as it becomes too progressive. In our case, the reduced mid and late-stroke sensitivity was very noticeable. So rather than have the front of the bike ride really low with excessive sag, we gradually removed the volume spacers, allowing us to up the pressure and decrease sag back to a reasonable amount. Even with zero volume spacers in there, the ZEB is still quite progressive. In fact, some of our lighter riders were still a ways from reaching full travel, and actually preferring the Lyrik for this and other reasons. Hope that helps explain! [Wil]

Those cable issues would really wind me up. So hard to have confidence to do sketchy stuff when you see your cable is gradually getting abraded away.

It had to be a non-mtb-er asking for stuff on e-bikes... which real mtb-ers don't care as they are slower, more corupted riding versions of their actual bikes; for those who have their first mtb experience with a 10-15k electric toy, of course they will want more info on the subject. They don't make time to study geo charts or suspension leverages no, they just need to know which one is the bling-iest and which one can propel them up the hill fastest, in order to be trail obstacles for real riders; that is, if they ride real trails... as most of the guys such as you ride xc trails(maybe even flowy xc trails) on 160-170mm electrics. p. s. not all electric riders are like those described above but, from persoanal experience, 9 out of 10 are.

why that cheap shifter?
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube
@FlowMountainBikeYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
Simply to get the cost down. Most brands will up-spec the derailleur, because that's the first thing that most customers look at. It's pretty standard to see bikes with a nice derailleur, but with a down-spec'd cassette, shifter, chain and even crankset. One of the few exceptions we've come across is the Merida Ninety-Six 8000. That bike has a GX derailleur and shifter, but is up-spec'd to an XX1 cassette and chain, because they're lighter, better shifting and last a lot longer; flowmountainbike.com/tests/merida-ninety-six-8000-review-2021/ [Wil]
