Do you think a Final Edition Limited production is a cool idea for bikes being cut from the lineup?

Many comments on here about doing this for any model being discontinued and that's all good. But this is something really special as the sportster has been in production since 1957. That's way longer than any other current model.
@RidingintheOzarks2 жыл бұрын
I agree you don't want to make it a normal thing but If they know they are never bringing it back that would be cool. I doubt we ever see a Springer Softail again, that would have been cool.

Just like you said maybe it’s a final edition in Japan because the Harley web site has the bike in the 3 colors and they seat doesn’t look like this in this video. Hence being at a Japanese bike show probably mean it’s will be they last year there

That seat and those grips have been available for years via HD Parts and Accessories. HD may make the limited Special Edition only available in certain markets (e.g. Japan) and offer a regular run for the regular edition elsewhere. Whatever the case, what's almost certain is that 2022 will be the air-cooled Sportster's final year of production. Anyone that really want's one, though, will be able to buy one in the used market for years, decades, to come . . . which is my plan exactly . . . ditto for the Dyna

Something interesting about the 2022, that I have not really dug into is one of my local dealers Freedom Valley Harley-Davidson posted a sneak peak to the 2022 Lineup 2 days ago on there facebook page. The 2nd last picture is a Breakout with a 114 so I am not sure if they are re releasing it

The mistake that Harley made with the Dyna is that should of kept the name. All the models just shifted to the Softails. Even if Harley would have announced a final addition on the Dynas it wouldn’t have had any effect since we were building all Softtails in Kansas City already.

Well 48's are in dealerships already, saw 2 last weekend. There is a peak at them in my video from Monday I think. The 2022 Launch was this week and no mention of a final edition so this limited edition model appears to be a Japan only thing still.

@@RidingintheOzarks Ok I ain't trying to start nothing but why does Japan have the first models?
@RidingintheOzarks2 жыл бұрын
@@ericnorton4045 this isn’t a first model, 48 is an existing model, Japan is coming out with Final edition, limited production edition of it, I could find much out about it but I am guessing this is going be the last year for this model in Japan because of regulations, many countries including EU have banned sales of Sportster cause it doesn’t meet their epa rules essentially… I suspect Harley will stop making this model completely in the next year or two…

On my HD side of bikes, Sportsters have never really been my dig (with the exception of the XR1200), but have to admit the demise of the EVO Sportster does have me checking classifieds for a clean late model black 48.
@RidingintheOzarks2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wouldn't mind picking up a clean used 1200 for the right price, just to have one but I don't have that kind of disposable cash and the lady needs a newer bike so that is the priority this year.
@jonnymac89252 жыл бұрын
Personally, if this is the last version I am very, very let down. A seat, grips, a chrome version of the stock air cleaner, and a sticker doesn't really do it for me. I really hope this is just a Japan specific bike, and that we get a proper Icon edition Sportster in North America.
@RidingintheOzarks2 жыл бұрын
An Icon model would be cool, but I am not into sportster enough I would buy one either way...
@jonnymac89252 жыл бұрын
@@RidingintheOzarks yah that makes sense, the only people that would be buying them would be collectors and those that wanted one of the last air cooled Sportsters. I have a 2018 forty eight, I can't see me buying another just to have one of the last haha

I think the stock "blank" Derby covers makes the Bike looks cheap. For the final run, HD should've upgraded it to something more special. I own a 2020 Forty-Eight and I replaced the Derby Cover and the looks is greatly enhanced.

So limited editions to each country. On of my bikes is a MV AGusta Dragster 800rr Pirelli edition. Number 27 out of 200 worldwide. Harley use to selling bikes by yearly new fancy paint names primarily. Most other manufacturers offer more horsepower/electronics/new paint jobs just about every year especially in their $15,000 plus bikes. I like Harley’s new direction with Pan America and Sportster S. New paint/hand grips with old engines are not the future. Emissions have made over 200 horsepower bikes with electronic allowing someone to hang on.
@RidingintheOzarks2 жыл бұрын
I don't think this means limited editions in each Market, the Aritic Blast was worldwide. i just found this and thought it was cool and would like to see harley do final editions on more bikes. Honda did not thing to gold wing this year besides cut one model, they did a few minor things last year since it was new design in 2018. They do things and many people don't realize it and they don't mention it, Several Softails got upgraded rear suspension this year buy HD doesn't mention. The Bikes released so far are the ones not getting significant changes, new models or ones with more changes are coming on the 26th.

Whoa! A Harley 48 with a different seat and handgrips! Oh and some bling, bling! And only an extra 3k! Or whatever. I’m poo pooing it I know. It looks like another money grab from Harley before they discontinue the bike. A sales gimmick.
@RidingintheOzarks2 жыл бұрын
I couldn't find any pricing, I am sure it cost more cause it is a limited edition. I did not say it was good investment but I like the idea of being more transparent about ending models...

Why would you buy a limited edition outgoing model…I appreciate Harley-Davidson for promoting newer models than promoting outgoing models( which will be a pain for customers on long run)…

If I knew the Dyna Low Rider was going away after 2017 I would have probably bought it instead of touring bike. I planned to by that Bike next now I can try and pick one up used but I would have preferred to get it new. Limited editions cost more but hold their value as well.
