Very good review. I own this exact model had it 8 months now. It’s a great real world road bike IMHO. Plenty quick, comfortable, lovely handling, great brakes, slick gearbox, quick shifter, slipper clutch, very well built. Regarding the ‘short’ gearing it’s all relative though because it will do about 70 mph in first, 95 mph in second with another four gears to play with. It’s torquey too and pulls well from nothing so it can be ridden lazily if you want. It feels very ‘Honda’ too and I like that.

70 in the first gear? That's pushing it a bit huh?
@gilvansouza Жыл бұрын
70 in first gear is an exaggeration, if you do that you are probably revving the hell out of it, 70 in 2nd easy for sure. It's plenty fast enough. Everything else totally agree. I particularly like the brakes

I love my 19. After removing a bunch of unnecessary crap to take some weight off and installing a full exhaust system along with a woolich tune this bike is a beast. The midrange flat spot that these bikes are known for is exchanged for awesome midrange power.

My first bike was a 1980 Honda CB750F Super Sport. It was crazy low geared but handled by just thinking about where you wanted to go and was an absolute joy around town! By now it’s obvious why this video caught my interest.😊

Gearing was still a bit too "tall" for me but better than the 2018 model. Change the sprockets, though, and its just right :) add a Yoshi pipe, and (for my taste, being a larger dude) new suspension (I like Ohlins, what can I say), and the bike is just...perfect for me. keep handy a windcreen and some sadlebacks, and you have a bike that can be taken to the track, commuted daily, or even taken on longer trips. (the windscreen and bags stay off unless I travel). Cruise control would be nice, and I imagine you can et heated grips. I did own a 2020 super Duke R and that thing is constantly trying to murder you :) Can be fun, but the CB1000R is more chill, which is what I wanted (even the MT-10 and MT-09 were a bit too hooliganish, and while I don't mind their look, andthe 2022 XSR900 is a gorgeous bike too) the Honda just looks excelent!

Hi, looking at maybe purchasing the cb1000r going into next season, I am going to be buying the oxford Beast chain, would this 22mm chain fit through the wheel of the cb1000r. Thanks

Nice review. I have a 2015 (first gen) that I got for a song as it was a two-year old hold-over. It's a fun/flickable bike. I have been eye-balling the second gen for a while, but I'm disappointed Honda didn't tune that engine for a bunch more power. I have a love/hate relationship with my 2015 - I love how it's geared for quick acceleration, but I hate how it's geared for speed. At 230 lbs, I barely get to 130 mph. At best, you'll get to 120 mph quickly, then she poops out the last 10 mph. And, the first gen was in desperate need for a slipper clutch, that's for sure. I know you can get them aftermarket, but I'm considering moving on from the cb1000r.

I'd be amazed if it was above 130 hp at the tire. I'm with you, I'll take the Z900RS SE over this one. The ride is more comfortable, even if the Z900RS SE lacks any decent electronics, I'd still take it .

Got a 19' does it have a flat spot in the mid of the power curve? I got a full exhaust and a rapid bike, that really woke it up and smoothed the curve.

Yes it does. I have the 21 and Woolich just released a tune, I'm taking mine to Moore Mafia in Feb and he will be making a video to show what crazy restrictions and lean conditions the bike has out the box. Will def be a supernaked contender after fixing the ECU

Honda’s patents for the next gen cb have been released and it’s apparently getting the last gen fire blade engine with wings, so it’s looking like it’s getting a big boost in power.

Nice vid mate, tossing up between this (non black addition as we don't get that in nz), the z900rs and the new xsr900. Like the looks of this and the z900rs but like the tech and standard quick shift and cruise control on the xsr900. What would your thoughts be?
@KB-yj5xp2 жыл бұрын
I have a 2018 z900rs that I’ve put 65,000 km on it and a 2021 black edition Cb that I’ve put 20,000 km on and you can’t go wrong with either one. If you like to customize or mod your bike the kawi is way better, you can’t do much with the Honda, can’t change the gearing without getting errors and there’s still no ecu flash available for the Honda either. But the Honda is a faster sharper handling bike. Never rode the xsr so I can’t compare it to the other 2 sorry.
@driveforsanity2 жыл бұрын
@@KB-yj5xp Thanks for the advice, sounds like the CB for me then as I'm not really into modding things too much. How would you rate the comfort over longer rides between the 2?
@KB-yj5xp2 жыл бұрын
@@driveforsanity hard for me to say because I've modded my kawasaki, it's got clip on bars and a cowl now and for me the position is better because I have some back problems and being leaned forward a bit more actually helps me. From stock the Honda position is a little sportier, pegs are a little higher and bars are a little lower. I find my hands and feet get numb at about the same time, maybe about 2-3 hours and seat comfort is about the same too.
@KB-yj5xp2 жыл бұрын
Build quality is a bit nicer on the Honda, the fit and finish is really good and the bike is nicer in person than in the pictures. The quickshifter is really nice on the Honda too.
@driveforsanity2 жыл бұрын
@@KB-yj5xp that's a great help thanks, unfortunately we don't get the version with quick shifter over here but I guess I can add it easy enough. I was leaning towards the Honda anyway so you've pretty much confirmed it for me. Shame they don't have cruise control but I suppose I can add that too. Thanks again for the advice.

I tested one. I wanted to like it but it felt very cramped. If you’re 6ft or taller it’s not for you. I’m 6’3 and I couldn’t do it. Went with a 2023 gsx S1000 black and I love it!
@denominatorxero720 Жыл бұрын
I am 6ft and find it fine, not nearly as cramped as proper super sport bikes. It is small, it is compact yes, but I do not find it uncomfortable and if the ergo put the feet any lower the handling would be compromised
