With an MSRP under $30K, is the 11th gen Civic Si the ultimate value proposition in the "fun daily" segment, or is it just an underpowered and underwhelming economy car?

I just got the 2024 Civic Si in sonic gray last week and love the car so far. First standard in 30 years. I was lucky to get mine at just $250 over MSRP with 2 years of free oil changes and tire rotations thrown in from my local Honda dealer. I shopped around in my area and most dealers wanted anywhere from 1K to 5K over MSRP. I had to haggle like hell to get the deal I got, but I'm glad I persevered.

Love my '20, but i bought it before the world went to shit. Appreciate it more and more the longer ive had it. Rear motor mount (little more engine noise), springs, sway bar, and acuity shifter bits have all been killer. Aftermarket support is one area where the Honda platform still appears to have an advantage over the EN. Anyway, if you can get one for MSRP and plan to keep it for a long time, i dont think youll be disappointed. And for everyone dealing with dealer markup BS i feel for you, stay strong

I've had two 8th gen Si's that were two of my favorite cars I've owned. I shopped for a new Si, but most dealers near me in central FL simply wanted too much. Even used with 10-20k miles were going for above msrp of a new model. I checked out the integra and liked it, but didn't love it. I ended up with a civic hatch sport touring 6mt at msrp and feel like it strikes a pretty good balance. With our flat, local roads, I'm not missing the LSD or the 20 extra hp, but I'm loving the hatch space, the digital instrument cluster, the heated seats (bad back), and personally find the Civic interior more attractive. Really can't go wrong with any 11th gen based vehicle.

I think another big issue is there isn't much head room for the aftermarket to easily bring the power up compared to it's competitors. The 1.5t motors have been known for bending rods with just bolt-ons and a tune at times, and at least one local engine builder refuses to touch them due to other design issues

Nice review! My three car garage holds a 991.2 GT3 Touring, a 993 C4S, and the Si. Love my 22 Si. I daily it and the chassis, gearbox and comfort are great, it’s plenty peppy around town and for passing on the highway. Easily holds my young family of four plus luggage for road trips. I got mine for MSRP plus a few grand in dealer package add ons. I still found it to be a pretty good deal for what you get. FYI I believe the dyno numbers put the Hp closer to 225hp. Keep up the good work, cheers!

The issue isn't the power but that soulless blender that passes for a motor. It's boring, sounds awful, and blows up when you mod it. All for 0 power gains from the 8th Gen. I really wonder why you would ever get this when you can get an 8th Gen for way less and have a much more fun experience that's been proven on the race track

@@1anre I've driven the Integra A-spec which is the same car. I think I can make a safe assumption when the car is almost exactly the same. It's a good car but the L15 engine is garbage. Do some research on it and you'll see how grossly underbuilt it is for this application

4:10 wtf man, trying to shift to 1st doing atleast 10mph. Only saying that after watching you minutes earlier go to redline vs shifting and trying to carry speed? 5:25 yes, that is why you feel you need to beat on it.. your driving style isn`t my style.

@@Highlander1432When have new car msrps ever decreased? Only a few examples of evs that have done so and Nissan 370z from what I recall. It's true we may be able to get below MSRP again but we aren't in 2010 anymore where sports compacts were low to mid 20's.

I'd prefer a hatch as well, but at least the 11th gen Civic sedan has a pretty spacious backseat and trunk
