Really surprised by the way the new Civic Si drives. The old one felt like a slightly faster Civic Sport trim, while this one feels more like a Type R minus 100 HP. Gets us pumped for the reveal and drive of the next-generation Civic Type R next year!

@@ryanhughes4350 Excellent question. Ignoring dealer markups, do you go for this at $27.5K USD or for the Elantra N (we don't know pricing on that yet, bet let's estimate maybe $32.5K)? Is it worth another ~$5K for 75 more HP, heated seats, bigger brakes, adjustable suspension and a fully digital dash?

30 years ago I had a 1986 Honda Civic Si, starting my love affair for Honda. I've had 7 Honda automobiles over the years. Sadly, for me the cars just don't seem to have "it" anymore. I was very interested in the previous Civic Si and test drove it. I returned to the dealer immediately asking them if the car was broken? The engine would rev hang. The salesman said no, that's "normal" and for emission purposes. OK, here are the keys, I'm not interested. I bought a 2017 Accord Coupe V6 instead and this will be the last Honda I ever buy. I daily a 2012 and 2017 Accord Coupe V6. The 2012 at my Az home and the 2017 for Chicagoland. After the quality issues I've endured with these cars in order to have cars I find attractive, Honda sold me a Lexus for my next car. Love affairs, sadly, tend to come to an end in disappointment.

My first was 85 CRX and then I bought 1998 DX Hatch and 2000 EX-G. Even RSX Type-S couldn't compete with the dynamics of my tuned 98 DX Hatch, so I vacationed from Honda until my current 2017 LX Sedan 6MT. No reviews on this model (and still no reviews) but I was pleasantly surprised. I was hoping that Honda would play on this base model, since it checks all the boxes. 11th Type-R is a potential, but it's not going to be as fun as my current Sedan on the streets (helps when you can be a hooligan, but still burn like an economy car). Like you, this may be my last Honda.

And then there's Honda, which screws us of entire bodystyles so they can sell an up-market version of the same car for their crappy US-focused pseudo-luxury marque and do shit like this because they think we'll balk at an extra $500 on a car we're all going to finance over 60 months anyway.

Really like the new Si, looks great and the interior is greatly improved. Owned a 2007 that was tons of fun. But the market has changed in the 2020's. The 1.5L is just not powerful enough in this segment and until they get at least 25-50 more HP I would not likely consider one. Also a huge oversight not including rear air vents or even one USB port for the rear seat passengers.

The Canadian Civic SI has all kinds of upgraded features that we don’t get in the US. It comes with heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, fog lights, turn signals in the side mirrors and even a phone charging pad. Items I would love to have in the US.

Shifting to 3rd for 60mph is such a good thing … one of the best things … everyone complains about the GT4 and how you can only shift once before speeding even at highway limits. Can’t have both :)

Every reviewer unanimously managed to "accidently" skip over the fact this gen removed fog lights, heated seats, dual climate control, rear seat stitching, wireless charger, lower trim dash, removed adaptive dampers, reduced horsepower and put a bow-tie on it by increasing the price. I am a fierce Honda loyalist, I've owned 20+ Acuras and Hondas, some mainstream, some ultra rare. I absolutely will not support Honda in this kind of behavior. Saying they removed adaptive dampers because the car is now "always in sport" is comical and offensive. Let's be real. They stripped this car down to sell Integra. Same reason why Accord lost V6 in 2017; to save criminally bad sales of the TLX.

@Kay Bee it’s going to be closer to $41k here in Canada vs $34k for the Civic SI. I just think Honda could do so much more with this car- better brakes, more than 10 additional HP over the Touring? Yeah, I get the power band and such, but still? There is allot of car with the N; adaptive dampers, that exhaust pop alone is worth additional $$

I've been a Civic fan since its inception. Styling has, for forever, swapped from boring to too exciting, back and forth with every generation. I guess its back to very boring this time. The fifth gen civic was by far the best IMO. The same goes for driver engagement though this one seems quite entertaining. Civic have never been about straight-line performance but about fun engaging handling and slick powertrains and transmissions. As a matter of fact, "uberpower" drivetrains spoil the experience since they highlight the limitations of the FWD layout regardless of how they try to disguise it.

This car is getting remarkably good feedback across the board and I can totally understand why. I bought my 2015 Si brand new and considered trading for a 10th gen upon release... Until I drove one. I thought "If it's this hideous maybe it's a riot to drive and I'll never notice." Nope. 10th gen drives as bad as it looks. But this car? Sheesh. I'd buy one today. It's so sleek and mature. I love the dual exhaust and deck lid spoiler. Everyone who drives one seems to collectively agree that it's the best driving Si they've experienced too. I'm gonna exercise self control and wait for the Type R next year but I will say: Hats off to Honda for dropping such a refined Si. I thought I was completely turned off by them after the 10th gen but I would 100% buy this car. Great review!

Honda ditched the adjustable dampers for stiffer springs and sway bars.... fucking downgrade! Keep your 10th Gen fellas! Honda took away adjustable dampers in favor of bolt-ons you could have done yourself with basic tools in your garage. Glad to hear the adjusted the tune for better low end torque but the loss of the adjustable dampers is a big down grade. 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
