30 years ago I had a 1986 Honda Civic Si, starting my love affair for Honda. I've had 7 Honda automobiles over the years. Sadly, for me the cars just don't seem to have "it" anymore. I was very interested in the previous Civic Si and test drove it. I returned to the dealer immediately asking them if the car was broken? The engine would rev hang. The salesman said no, that's "normal" and for emission purposes. OK, here are the keys, I'm not interested. I bought a 2017 Accord Coupe V6 instead and this will be the last Honda I ever buy. I daily a 2012 and 2017 Accord Coupe V6. The 2012 at my Az home and the 2017 for Chicagoland. After the quality issues I've endured with these cars in order to have cars I find attractive, Honda sold me a Lexus for my next car. Love affairs, sadly, tend to come to an end in disappointment.

My first was 85 CRX and then I bought 1998 DX Hatch and 2000 EX-G. Even RSX Type-S couldn't compete with the dynamics of my tuned 98 DX Hatch, so I vacationed from Honda until my current 2017 LX Sedan 6MT. No reviews on this model (and still no reviews) but I was pleasantly surprised. I was hoping that Honda would play on this base model, since it checks all the boxes. 11th Type-R is a potential, but it's not going to be as fun as my current Sedan on the streets (helps when you can be a hooligan, but still burn like an economy car). Going to hold out and drive the Elantra N. just can’t pass up on what looks to be a better all around weekend toy.

@Kay Bee it’s going to be closer to $41k here in Canada vs $34k for the Civic SI. I just think Honda could do so much more with this car- better brakes, more than 10 additional HP over the Touring? Yeah, I get the power band and such, but still? There is allot of car with the N; adaptive dampers, that exhaust pop alone is worth additional $$

Looking at the performance stats I've seen for the 10th gen vs the new Si, there seems like there is little difference despite what you feel. One test I saw claimed a 0-60 of 7.3 secs vs 6.8 for the 10th gen. I suppose we will see more tests in the future that will clarify the difference it any.

Great review . I like the way it sounds compared to the outgoing , and I love the new look . Can’t wait to see the type r . I’m pretty sure once broken in it will get closer to that 0 to 60 number .

Really honda wouldn't have shorted us in HP. Hondas as they are, are so good already, I jist can't imagined what it would be like qith an extra 30hp from the manufacturer so we would have to try and rob from somewhere else and jeopardizing a little bit of everything else. What a shame!

I've been a Civic fan since its inception. Styling has, for forever, swapped from boring to too exciting, back and forth with every generation. I guess its back to very boring this time. The fifth gen civic was by far the best IMO. The same goes for driver engagement though this one seems quite entertaining. Civic have never been about straight-line performance but about fun engaging handling and slick powertrains and transmissions. As a matter of fact, "uberpower" drivetrains spoil the experience since they highlight the limitations of the FWD layout regardless of how they try to disguise it.

The back seat area of the Si apparently came from a fleet version. Doesn’t seem to match the front in any way. A bit surprised the seats are not covered in black vinyl.

Love your review as always...Next time at the stop sign where you found the straight road, make your first right onto Little Sycamore Canyon (I believe you were on Little Sycamore Canyon for a little bit from what I saw) which turns into Yerba Buena Road, its even better IMO than Westlake Blvd, (23) or Decker Canyon:)

This car is getting remarkably good feedback across the board and I can totally understand why. I bought my 2015 Si brand new and considered trading for a 10th gen upon release... Until I drove one. I thought "If it's this hideous maybe it's a riot to drive and I'll never notice." Nope. 10th gen drives as bad as it looks. But this car? Sheesh. I'd buy one today. It's so sleek and mature. I love the dual exhaust and deck lid spoiler. Everyone who drives one seems to collectively agree that it's the best driving Si they've experienced too. I'm gonna exercise self control and wait for the Type R next year but I will say: Hats off to Honda for dropping such a refined Si. I thought I was completely turned off by them after the 10th gen but I would 100% buy this car. Great review!

The Canadian Si has lots of extra features. We get a spare tire in the trunk, those fog lights are actual LED fog lights, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel.

Honda ditched the adjustable dampers for stiffer springs and sway bars.... fucking downgrade! Keep your 10th Gen fellas! Honda took away adjustable dampers in favor of bolt-ons you could have done yourself with basic tools in your garage. Glad to hear the adjusted the tune for better low end torque but the loss of the adjustable dampers is a big down grade. 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

@Jtbg802 жыл бұрын
Idk why but the new Si just doesn’t do for me 🤷🏾♂️. I like the front of the car but that’s pretty much it for the exterior. The interior is cool but I prefer the interior of the old one as it seems there was more storage and I like the position of the shifter. I do like there’s no fake vents on this gen

For what it's worth, you can remote start a manual vehicle. It is a bit of a process (clutch bypass, and reservation when shutting off) and most wouldn't opt for it anyway. But just thought I'd mention it.
