Thanks to Exhaust Notes Australia I got to spend a week with the 2022 Honda Civic VTi LX. Priced at $47,200 AUD, can it compete with its price rivals? Written review: www.exhaustnot...

Yes it really matters!

I think you nailed it, the cars this thing will be competing against means it's just not quite good enough for the money

I miss the golden era of Honda from the late 80s all the way to the early 2000s, all new era Honda's just don't seem to do it for me except the S660, but we never got that here in AU unfortunately.
@DavidBournePhotoandVideo2 жыл бұрын
There’s definitely a couple of S660’s kicking around here. Guess they’d be imports though. I’m hoping they eventually follow Toyota’s lead and bring back the fun cars, whether it’s an integra or an S2000 just something!
@richardhoulton40162 жыл бұрын
@@DavidBournePhotoandVideo Well…look at the new Integra! They had no respect at all for their own legacy. It’s a dull as the Civic. I think Honda have completely lost their way and could be in a death spiral (I think they could exit Australia completely and in the not too distant future too). Mazda have probably replaced Honda now. Mazda need to learn from Honda’s mistakes!

Great video Dave, summed up really well. Not sure who will buy these if they're making an informed decision, there's so much else that can be had at the price point.

This or the Hyundai i30 n-line premium sedan?
@DavidBournePhotoandVideo2 жыл бұрын
I haven't had the chance to drive the i30 n-line, but the fact that it doesn't have a CVT is enough for me to say I'd pick that over the Civic.
@mharro882 жыл бұрын
@@DavidBournePhotoandVideo yeah it's DCT. Would drive nicer for sure but I haven't driven the civic. Nvh could be better in it though.

is this the same asd the SI in america?
@DavidBournePhotoandVideo2 жыл бұрын
To be honest I’m not sure. Basically here in Australia we only get one flavour. Quickly taking a look at Honda USA, I’d say it would be comparable to the touring, but don’t hold me to that.

I beg to differ,I’ve just purchased this and I pick it up next week,over a 6 month period I looked at several different options ranging from Hyundai to bmw and in between and found this car to be the best value for money option considering most of the ones I was looking at needed at minimum 95 octane fuel(mine runs on minimum 91)and with the price of fuel only going to increase in the near future,getting this car fully optioned up with everything honda have to offer came out cheaper by at least $6000+ on the others I was looking at and also honda(at least in nsw) have the best turnaround time from when u first order to when u get it(mine will be about 4-5 weeks) and I know of Toyota having a 18 month to 2 year wait and MG nearly a 4 year wait,so in that aspect that’s a quick turnaround
@DavidBournePhotoandVideo2 жыл бұрын
Wait times are certainly a whole world of crazy. Congrats on your purchase and hope you have many happy years with it. Appreciate you watching and commenting 😊

@@DavidBournePhotoandVideo I got lucky and the dealership even threw in a spare tyre and jack aswell considering I told them I was walking away from the deal if they didn’t provide it and it cost me $480 but I got it in the end

One of the final nails in the coffin for Honda in Australia.. such a shame (not that this was even on my radar, I went with the i30N). Still looking forward to seeing the upcoming Type R variant but I can’t even imagine the price point given the price of the non performance model..
@DavidBournePhotoandVideo2 жыл бұрын
Solid choice getting the i30n! I’d love a drive of one of those. Fingers crossed I’ll get a chance to drive the type R when it comes out. Though with my commentary on this maybe I won’t!

The inside I like, although it's not ground breaking, but the exterior, while looking good, seems to have dated it already. No doubt its reliable, but then my Mazda hasn't been great for so called Japanese engineering!

@@DavidBournePhotoandVideo Honda seem to be committed to Australian marketplace suicide. When you think where they were in the early 90’s. Exciting competitive product range. Japan’s BMW. And then a descent into mediocrity, increasing appeal with duller and duller models to an older demographic (which will kill any brand eventually and drive you into “budget” territory…and up against the Koreans…and Chinese), no aspirational “halo” cars. Civic Type R…to little too late…and polarising. They’ve got everything wrong.
