comfort and capacity are really important for America's highway system 🤷When I was living in Europe, we had to stop every 30 minutes when our friends were with us, because the drive was just too long. When I'm in America, that stop is every 250 miles

I've been driving my Civic for almost a year now (bought it in July 2021 during the height of the chip shortage... waited a month or two to make sure I got a '22 instead of a '21). I have to say, it is the most enjoyable car I've ever ridden, let alone driven. The suspension is smooth, the handling is tight and the features are amazing. This is my first car with LKAS and ACC and it's amazing. It FEELS new and 'space-age', the interior is so sleek and I really enjoy it. The single piece of trim going across the whole dashboard really harkens back to classic Hondas but feels like a fresh take on it. People compliment the interior whenever they get in my car. I was hesitant to take on a payment for a car bc I've only ever purchased used cars but I'm more than happy with my purchase. I'm going to take care of the car and if it lasts me a long time, Honda will have a customer for life.

I’ve been driving this car for about 4 months and I absolutely love it. Fuel economy is great, seats are comfortable, heating/cooling system is great, drives well, and the speakers sound great. The only negative thing I could really say is that to use Car Play, you have to physically plug in your phone, but the port is in such a convenient place that it’s not a HUGE deal. It still has Bluetooth so you can still play music or make calls without having to plug your phone in.

I’ve had my 2022 Civic Sport for 2 months now, it was the only one on the lot. I’m into luxury cars and almost bought a used C Class Mercedes but knew the service would be more affordable on a Honda and would rather get a brand new car for the same sticker price. I love the car and it has fantastic features for the price! Doug is one of my favorite car guys, but his rating is unfair. This car is reliable and tech-savvy for the price and I would take it over a Mazda, Kia, or compact Corolla any day based on styling and value retention. Great and good looking daily driver!

@@NMEofdaST8 the C300 is built even cheaper than a Honda of similar price. leatherette is of worse quality, tighter engine tolerances drive up maintenance cost, and overall the car will not hold up as well over time to normal driving. I had a 2013 C250 w/ a 6-speed in it when I started at MB and by the time I hit 100,000 miles I'd spent nearly 125% the original MSRP in maintenance alone and the interior was falling apart. Because car classes are always based upon what else is being sold at the SAME TIME. It's impossible to reliably compare classes from one era to the next. If we were to compare executive class cars from the 90's to ones from the 60's we would be complaining about how they are too small. It's all relative to what it is competing against. Not many people are cross shopping 90's Accords with 2020's Civics. I much prefer smaller cars too. But this is a marketing problem.

I mean, with the current cost of fuel climbing to an all-time high (as of May 2022), it's rather odd that the mention of fuel economy wouldn't be high on the list of "things to talk about"...

It basically shows how serious America is about climate change when they label bigger heavier cars as "small" and "compact". If you put today's engine and safety technology into something the size of a 8 or 9th gen Civic, it would still sell, it would be lighter, it would be faster and it would be more fuel efficient. And if you build it like the 8th gen without the studid sloping roofline of the 10/11th gens, it would also be space efficient.

I’m surprised the practicality score is so low. Civics and Corollas have always been the bread and butter of practical driving. For all of the people complaining about this car being boring, I ask you this: do you really think it’s that bad for a car company to just make a normal, practical car? Is it really that bad? Can I not be satisfied with a car that has good gas mileage, good reliability and not too much going on with the design? Not every car in the world is an extravagant sports car. That isn’t the point of the new Civic. And furthermore, sports cars are often sales failures since that’s not what the market wants. This, for the most part, is a car that the market wants, and the market is what all car companies cater to, whether the obscure group of enthusiasts likes it or not.

Cheap my ass. I have the LX trim but in a 2018 model. Only difference is mines a six-speed. Arguably, the screen is better than in the new-gen and mines a trim level down than this one..... My car cost me 16000ish new fresh off the factory floor 30 mins away. The trim up which is pretty much just a sunroof and alloy wheels was 18000ish new The new ones Start at 22000, the same trim as mine but without the six-speed is 24000. Yes, they redesigned the exterior (Imo looks better) and interior (imo looks good, but so does the previous) but all the features and standard things that came with it are all the exact same. Honda made the civic more expensive but changed nothing (aside from body panels and interior) and gave you nothing more for the money. I dont think its worth the 30-40ish precent jump in price..

Depends on the plastic cover... I had an '08 Fiat Bravo, one of the first cars (at least in Europe) to go with the new trend of smaller, turbocharged 4-cylinder engines. Except that being Italian, the engineers decided to incorporate part of the turbo inlet piping into the plastic cover. So every time I wanted to change spark plugs or whatever, I had to get these two PITA Oetiker clamps off - inevitably one would ping off and fall down to the bottom of the engine bay - and then wrestle off two of the least-flexible flexible hoses I've ever encountered from either end.
@TheAnnoyingBoss
@TheAnnoyingBoss 2 жыл бұрын
@@allanransom8518 I agree but also the less shit I have to move out of the way to change a spark plug, the better. when they use plastic it gives you the feeling that they're covering up a high tech mess they couldn't organize. When they don't rely on plastic, it allows the engine bay to be better on display and I actually enjoy when they organize everything nice and neat. Makes me feel like if I ever have to work on it under the hood, that everything is nice and in order for me to easily navigate my way around. When you pop some of these either manufacturers hoods and remove the plastic and it looks like a car with way too many poorly added on aftermarket electronics mixed together in a rats nest of wires and tubes, it really doesn't instill confidence when you have to to looking for problems. Honda and Toyota are very good at making their engine bays as organized as you can get em at least. Without all the extra covers in the way, if you have to get under the hood it makes it a more enjoyable expirience. Also I like seeing Honda relying on not the most high tech stuff, but the reliable stuff. Like a prop rod instead of shocks and struts. My 20 year old Toyota coupe still has another 20 years of life left in it, but the shocks went bad and it's easier to use a large campfire metal snore stick to hold the door open than to replace them. The prop rod will keep it classy for longer. It's also 20 years old and has a power seat thats malfunctioned and is a pain to fix when it's 20 years old. If you want your car to last long and keep functioning for decades, prop rod with manual seats are the only way

FUN FACT!! The auto start/stop (Honda’s Idle Stop) doesn’t save fuel. It’s proven that it actually saves more fuel to leave your car idling rather than have to start it and stop it every time you come to a stop. This also wears the starter out to be starting the car that much!!
