Great video. Long time Harley rider and I made the mistake of stopping by the Honda dealer to take a look at the new Goldwing. I had no intention of buying one but the salesman talked me into riding their demo bike. He wanted my opinion of how the GW compared to the bagger HD. I was so impressed with the bike I went back 7 times to try and convince myself I didn’t like it and find something wrong with it. The dealer was so generous with the bike even letting me keep it overnight. I bought a new GW and the best bike I ever owned. Easy to ride 1,000 miles in a day and in complete comfort. Many a trip through Montana and Wyoming through Yellowstone and over the Bighorns, memories I’ll never forget.

My experience is exactly the opposite. Just yesterday I saw a nice goldwing 1200 on the internet with ten thousand miles. I contacted the owner and told him that is a very nice bike and was very curious to see it. After wihich he replied that if he would show it to every one that is courious he will never sell it. I guess he never sold anything in his life. And after all who does more than 100 miles just to see a bike if he has zero interest in buying it.

I sold my Road Glide Limited for a 2022 GoldWing DCT Tour. Best bike I've every owned, tons of fun, super comfortable with lots of power when I need it. I'll I'm going to say is if you are a Harley touring rider, DO NOT test ride a GoldWing unless you are prepared to trade. As if you do, it will be all you can think about! You will want one lol. I test road one as I wanted to see what all the hype was about, and found it was totally justified. Amazing bike.

@@Noregret348 I'm fortunate in that I can own more than one bike so still own a Harley soft tail. I traded in a 2020 Road Glide Limited (fully loaded) for a 2022 Goldwing Tour DCT. I assure you, I have owned every damn touring bike made, this generation goldwing is nothing less than the best, period. once you learn that bike, you can carve twisties like any sports bike. put that thing in sports mode, hit the tail of the dragon and all this other roads down there, no one was able to keep up with me. yes, you can scrape on this bike and not even get skittish. 600, 700 mile days for weeks, you will be ready for more the next day. a light rain, your legs dont even get wet. the dct....after a while, it learns your driving habits, and works flawlessly. I will never own another touring bike. it has a few quirks that annoys me, but that is just me, and I can be ridiculous sometimes...lol. seriously, I cant say enough about that bike, just the best damn touring bike period. let me know if you find the quirks, you will if you ride it.

As the owner of a 2019 DCT Tour, I found your review to be pretty spot on. I bought mine new 21 months ago and have 41,800 miles on it. My wife and I have done 500+ mile days and I did my first Iron Butt ride 2 months ago. 1083 miles in 19 hours. Long day but I was ready to ride the next day. Most 2018+ owners will tell you that this seat is not as comfortable as the previous generation and I agree. I had the Wingsoft Mod done to mine and love it. Good bang for the buck. Way less than a full custom seat. It is very fun to ride and its my daily driver.

Great Review. I own the 2021 Tour DCT and I absolutely love it. The plug behind the seat is for a rider backrest(which I have) and helps in long distance travel. The center console has two buttons with no labels that are for a Homelink that supports 2 garage doors. The Homelink is a pain to install and for this bikes price I feel it should be a standard item. The Airbag version uses the compartment where the phone was in your review but moves the phone connection to the rear top box. Also it does have a center stand. The other feature is a really well integrated communication system that works with Cardo or Sena helmet coms. The CarPlay functions extremely well but does require a helmet com which is kinda irritating. The parking brake is easily forgotten and I have ridden off with it on. There is an aftermarket add that requires you to release the brake before it can be put into drive. I feel Honda should have included this. I continue to have a wide grin on my face every time I ride this bike. As you can tell I’d buy this bike again in a heartbeat and I heartily recommend it.

DCT is a game changer. I love street riding with my feet on the highway pegs turning corners and keep driving, No shifting or thinking. Electric windshield (up for highway, lowered to look over street riding) DCT, walking forward/reverse, water cooled, key FOB locking system, 4 riding modes, heated seat, grips at $29,000. The Harley Glides can go up to $33,000 without most of those amenities. Nice enough exhaust growl, so smooth, I can hear my music on the highway with my full modular helmet closed. It's not perfect, but checks most of my like boxes. Fun in the twisties with it's low engine mount very flickable or 1,500 mile trip. No engine stage 1-15 upgrade needed, sport mode is an exciting adrenaline rush to say the least. Awesome machine love my two tone blue 2022 DCT tour.

I have a 2008 Goldwing-Air Bag model, bought it used in 2013 with 10,000 miles on it. I've put 60,000 on it since then. If I had only one word to describe it, would be SMOOTH !!!! I'm a little biased, but I think it's the best touring bike ever made...the BMW 1600 is up there too, but for reliability, cost & ease of maintenance, number of dealers, etc, it's very hard to beat. I'm so happy with my 2008, I don't think I need to spend $30,000 for a new model. IMHO... nice review of the bike. PLEASE don't ride with no hands on camera, it's very irresponsible!!! Ride all day OFF CAMERA with no hands, I don't care, if you influence 1 rider, it's not worth it.

The trunk lid alert is important! If a rider was to leave his trunk lid unlatched, maybe after a quick stop to put on rain gear, the wind could lift the lid and the rider would suddenly have a spinniker sail on his/her machine (as well as be watching cargo blow across the desert). (Not that I would know about that or anything....) What an incredible motorcycle you have shown us. What a good review! Thank you.

Brilliant bike. Hard choice between this and BMW K 1600 for many buyers. My choice would be the K 1600 since I owned and loved it in the past. BMW R 1250 RT beats all of them in every category as another option (price, weight (200 + pounds lighter), power, technology, fun factor). The weight is always an issue in the parking lots for the Touring bikes. If you are a Harley diehard, nothing will change your mind since you invested ton's of Money on underwear, teeshirt, mug, keychain, hat :)

I have owned a K1600GT since new in 2012. I like the idea of unleaded fuel acceptance of the Honda and I think Honda offers adaptive cruise control which was not addressed. I would switch to a Honda. I also had to have a top overhaul because my rings went bad at about 45,000 miles to the tune of $4,300. Have always had this bike serviced by the dealer. Since then, I have ridden this bike to Brooklyn from So. Cal with no problems. I see the Honda as a better value.

I ride a Harley and want something more comfortable and performance oriented that I don’t have to sink $20,000 into to get decent numbers. I love my Softail and I ride with my old broken in, steel toed work boots and a denim jacket. Not all of us buy into the poor-quality, overpriced clothing the brand sells. I will say a lot of their leather riding coats are decent quality though. Nothing I’ve owned comes close to the sound and feel of a Harley and there’s history behind the brand. I’m cross shopping the DCT Goldwing and a R1250 GSA for a possible replacement. My body can only handle 2 hours riding my Softail anymore.

Great review. I bought a new ‘78 version when I was 18 and at that time it was an incredible bike. I owned this bike in a ‘19 version for a couple of years but sold it off. The power, ride, handling, front brakes were unbelievable. But despite what a lot of riders claim, this is a small bike and I’m just a trim 5’9. This is really a sport tourer. A pleasure to ride and zero fatigue, but not enough motorcycle for me to take on a long ride, and I found the DCT kind of soul-less. And, it’s prone to malfunction due to electrical glitches. If I was to do it again it would be a manual 6 speed. That plastic cover on the seat is where a rider’s back rest would go, and the plastic covers down low on the sides cover the tip over protection bars. Look forward to the rest of your reviews on it. 👍

Very well explained - own a 2021 non-tour a couple of things I didn't see mentioned - the cover you said might be the airbag faux cover is opened by a button in the right side fairing compartment - it's where the gas tank filler cap is. Also, the only real negative that I've noted with 14K miles and three 3K + road trips is the accessibility of the air filter - coming on to the recommended 16K replacement - and it is a 3 hour task to complete - I believe the mechanic guide says 3.5 hours - lots of videos out there on how to complete - and I plan on getting my trusted mechanic to do it - way too many steps and cover removals including taking off the center console...

riding an old man's bike in a young guy's body is basically the dream thing to do, just like riding HD, but the price tag... well that's the reason it's an old man's bike.

Im currently contemplating doing my full motorcycle test in the UK, thanks to a mate encouraging me to do it, soo obviously im just looking at what i could ride later down the line, I think this will end up being my expensive purchase in the future. Will be interesting to see if bikes go the same way as cars and Honda ends up making an electric version or a hybrid, i think a hybrid would be a very interesting concept. The current electric bikes have a useless range, same as cars really. Good video, keep it up

THE BEST BIKE I HAVE EVER OWNED. To all, go and ride one. DCT or manual. You will not regret it. I have 2020. Since I got it out of the dealer, I never went back for ANYTHING. 15k and she is magical. Zerooooo problems and she clicks on every morning like she is hot from 10 mins ago ride. The DCT is superb. The transmission computer learns your riding habits and adopts to it. It takes it around 30 mins city riding to learn from new. Unbelievable machine. Can’t wait for future updates from Honda.

It’d be so nice if touring bikes had offroad capabilities. The most beautiful places I’ve ever been to have always been off the beaten path. My bike weighs 135kg, has three boxes with all my stuff. It has really amazing ground clearance (slightly over 10”). I’ve driven it over desert terrain, mountain passes, gravel, snow.

What other bike can you comfortably buy used with 100,000 miles? It’s rock solid, as comfy as it gets and can pull ass. Yes, it’s got the old man reputation, but so does a 69 Chevy convertible. Neither deserves the rep. I bought my first Goldwing when I was 22. Some friends laughed until I passed them as they were struggling to get up hill or pass. I soon saw more of my friends buy them too. Now sadly I’m in the old man class and love my Goldwing for different reasons. Now it’s not just for the power, the handeling and speed. It’s for the fact my feet are flat on the ground and I feel in charge. These days I find my KLR650 tippy at 425+ pounds. But my Goldwing feels lite at 850+. So maybe the Goldwing is an old man’s bike?A smart old man who like comfort and can pass you anytime he wants.

They just need an adv version with two wheel drive and I'm sold. I think they only had the old man image because of the price. The stats I've seen show a 0-60 time similar to an 890 Adventure. So certainly not slow.

Just got the exact same bike. Sold my ‘09 VFR800. I bought it without test riding it but watched a lot of reviews. Was pretty nervous with such a heavy bike and of course the price. This bike is amazing! So much to it and an absolute pleasure to ride. Much easier than the VFR at around 500lbs. Zero regrets - if you can actually get one. DCT is a joy.

I will own one someday. Didn't realize it had a 7th gear, a feature I have needed on every street bike I've ever owned. With fuel prices the way they are, I'm glad I'm riding a 65 mpg NC750X DCT. But, the NC lacks the power, brakes, suspension and carrying capacity that I'd like. When I retire, and don't have to worry about work getting in the way of travel, I will have one.

I have an a 2022 1250 GS with the sport suspension - which is same/similar to the suspension on the GSA. I also own a 2018 Goldwing. I think the Goldwing is slighly smoother on the rough pavement. The GS is great too but ever so slightly less refined IMHO. BOTH ARE GREAT and can't go wrong if you are looking for a smooth, comfy ride.

@@oldtimer3824 my current favorite for that would be the GS…. But the Wing would be fine too. I am still in the honeymoon stage with the GS but liking the better slow speed maneuvering and super stable tracking. The GS is a bit more fun to ride overall I think…. But the Wing is nice too. If going two up - the Wing wins by large margin.

I bought the GW 2018 DCT when it first came out. Very impressed with the DCT transmission. So much easier to ride in traffic-no manual shifting!! I have about 36k on it. Easy to do your own maintenance that doesn’t require a mechanic. No issues so far. Best bike I’ve owned so far! The standard seat sucks. Got a Russell Day Long in its place. Obtained an F4 windshield. Highly recommend that too. Sirius XM, fog lights, trunk rack with brake lighting, and bar risers. Trunk space sucks on this model, but heard they resolved that in later year models with more storage space. Had my ECU flashed to tone the Sport Mode and other throttle responses in other modes. Well worth it on the 2018 model.

Most GW owners don’t use the parking brake unless you’re on steep grades. The reason? We forget to disengage it, and you burn up your parking brake.

More impressed than I thought I would be. Not a big fan of primer black finishes, or deleted chrome or polished aluminium, but that's a preference thing. By the way, can't tell you how pleased I am with your music and the way you subtly integrate it into you videos. Not sure why everyone still feels the need to follow their intros with noisey, cliche guitar riffs, but glad you don't!

Ian, first, a thumbs up for the Beatles homage to "I should've known better" harmonica. Classic! Second, BMW chose to make their "Flying Brick" with all four cylinders facing the same direction in order to not be accused of copying Honda's flat opposing four. Third, I love your response to the acceleration and handling. Exhuberance! Fourth, the front suspension is a spin-off from BMW's telever - love the anti-dive aspect. Fifth, the saddle bags not capable of taking a full-face helmet is a fail. Last, it would be interesting to compare a 1996 BMW R1100RT to this model for cross-country touring. At $3,000 used vs nearly $30,000 and 300 pounds less... I know where I'd go. Wishing you tailwinds!
