Being over 50, I’m bombarded with the typical marketing for my age group: midline boring Lexus, Audi, VW…what I really want? An affordable, super fun rippy 6 manual car with great handling, burbly exhaust, race bracing and a million different drive modes. Yes. Midlife blaster. I don’t care what my colleagues think 👍🏼🙏🏼

@John Ricci - Other than not quite being over 50 yet, nor ever in the market for a Lexus or Audi, i feel exactly the same. Midlife doesn’t mean dead (yet) so i wanted something fun. Got a 6-speed in white for a great price. Even drove to LA to get it. So i can assure anyone who asks that, yes, this car is great for road trips too!

The lack of auto lights when you use the mirror/tiny vanity light/lack of built in garage door buttons/manual seat adjustments/etc are all such interesting cost cutting choices. Very minimal things but they add up. 10/10 car though.

Almost 1200 miles on my Phantom Black DCT. Mostly in ECO mode (gas hurts right now). Often hitting 38 MPG. Today did a stock up of 4 30-packs beer, 3 12-packs seltzer (wife's choice) and 5 full grocery bags. Excellent trunk storage. Picked up the kids from school, N Mode. Accidentally hit 70 on a 35 MPH backroad, totally stable, eLSD begged for more....ran out of road. The left N button on the wheel toggles between normal, sport, and ECO. Right button activates N mode and custom settings. I keep it in ECO until grandpa ticks me off, then hit right N button on the wheel, rip past, then hit left N button and it goes right back to my original (ECO mode). Often switch between the two. Have music playlist on USB flasdrive, and I've noticed the drive gets SMOKING hot during any drive. A bit concerning, but a small price to pay. One button turns this thing into a howling demon. I can feel the steering tighten, the suspension stiffen, the exhaust scream (and yes, you can feel it in your butt). Toggling between the two is an experience.

Just picked up my ceramic white Elantra N two weeks ago and I'm absolutely loving it so far! Such an underrated car and it sounds just so good. I've been stopped multiple times when filling up by people just asking what car it is. Definitely a head turner but to be able to flip it over to eco and get 35-40 mpg on long drives is so awesome. I really think they underrated MPG as well. Awesome channel and great review!

@Raul Ayala I paid $2,000 over MSRP and got the DCT. I had to search 3 states over from where I live to even find one. I put $5000 down with no trade. If you're looking to buy one, call every dealership within 500 miles that has one and ask if there's a mark-up. Take the one that has the smallest mark-up and go with it! Honestly, be prepared to drive upwards of 10 hours just to get the car depending on where you live. Just make sure you have the deal mostly or completely done before taking delivery at the dealership, as some cars that you see available might be sold already before they even hit the lot

they 100% underrated the hp ratings too. it has been proven countless times on many different dynos that the Elantra n makes roughly 280hp TO THE WHEELS. when Hyundai is saying it makes 280hp at the crank. if Hyundai was telling the truth they would say it makes probably 310-320hp. its a good thing because hyundai is saving us from higher insurance costs. if the insurances companies see +300hp sports car they are going to charge more then a 280hp sports car

For the last five to ten years, Hyundai and Kia have been on the cutting edge of automotive design. They're not afraid of taking risks, and it's paying off. I'm not sure if the quality and reliability of their products has improved along with the designs. Only time will tell.

It truly has! They know they still need the warranty to sway those on the fence but I've spoken with many owners and they've had success. At this point I feel electrical problems are going to a concern for most manufacturers. So many sensors and wires it's a different world now

Nice review! I bought a hatch N over this here in Australia in January, a couple of reasons, I surf so the hatch luggage holding capacity was a bit easier with hatch entry and lower strut brace, also I couldn’t handle the looks compared to the much less polarising hatch, although 6 months in this has definitely grown in me. What a great car, I love it, so much fun and the difference between eco mode for daily driving and that little N button! Wow what an animal! Who would have thought a front drive car could be so damn good!

That acura is a luxury civic either go for the type r or the N you wont be disappointed i guarantee that i have both cant go wrong with either unless your a brand kind of person hyundai is as good as any brand and these elantra N have the good german engineering DNA

This is a great review, one of the best ones I've watched and I have watched several Elantra N reviews! I tried to get one last winter, but none were to be found in my area so I bought a Honda Civic Si. That is a great car as well and I love it but as fate would have it I recently got a call from a local Hyundai dealer telling me they had a Ceramic White one with a DCT coming in within a few weeks. Just for fun I said make me a deal on swapping the Honda and to my surprise he did a fantastic deal at MSRP for the Elantra and only a few hundred dollars worth of add ons. I said yes so in the end I'll be driving a new 'N'. Perfect that your review is a white one with the DCT. You confirmed my decision to purchase! Thanks.

Such a great comprehensive review. I just ordered mine with DCT in Cyber Gray here in Australia. Over here they come with power adjusted comfy seats with heating and ventilation as well as a local suspension tune. Pretty sweet I say..

You guys also get the Kona with the same vented/heated seats and a sunroof + cool colors we don’t get in USA. I put a deposit on the EN over KN because of the sunroof option tbh. I prefer a hatch look/cuv but because I was a die hard hatch wrx fan.

I own a Type R and the N products whether in Elantra or Veloster form are way more fun. Would never give up my Fk8 as it's a dedicated track monster, but would love to have one of the Ns as a daily

I own both the fk8 and the new elantra N i can say for shure this elantra has more than 276hp it pulls in a more linear way but it puts in the power the fk8 hits hard but I can’t say much in that area the because its at 376hp so its faster becuase its custom tunned , handling i would say the type r is more track focust feels more planted in the tech area elantra N all the way but i love both

aaaah I didn't knw that about the NGS, after you've started it you can turn it off and then on again until you've used the 20secs? but then have to wait a few mins to charge it all back up.

Fun fact: Most of luxury German brands charge you a hefty fee for lane departure warning /keep and adaptive c/c. I have owned Audi, BMW and Mercedes and none of them came with them. Funny how those things are standard on most entry level cars these days

dual clutch is NOT an automatic!! it is not even close to being an automatic! the internals of a dual clutch transmission are identical to a manual transmission and operate the same way a manual transmission operates. it is literally two (dual) manual transmissions working as one. it shares the exact interanls as a manual and shares absolutaly nothing with a traditional torque converted automatic transmission. you should learn exactly how a dual clutch works, you will understand exactly what im saying. saying it is an automatic is straight up wrong because it is 98% identical internally as a manual transmission

Technically the DCT is an "automated" manual transmission...Still has the word auto, so it's an auto.
