Apple needs to go away and have a serious word with itself. It’s literally pushed the boundaries of what it can get away with. It doesn’t help that most tech KZbinrs make constant excuses for apples bad behaviour. Apple is greedy and the least innovative company out of all the tech giants. I recently bought the 9. Gen iPad and gotta say that the unlaminated display makes no difference at all (except for when the glass breaks and I have to pay less to get it fixed). And it costs 2/3 with the Logitech accessories compared to going full apple with the 10. Gen.

9:05 iPad Air's port is USB 3.2 Gen 2, whereas iPad's port is USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Apple refers to them as USB 3.1 Gen 2 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 respectively).

The rest I can stand, since I’m using iPad 2018 and I don’t have high standards, and the keyboard folio seems really nice, but the Apple Pencil situation is completely unacceptable, adaptor is stupid, and that’s probably the only reason why I would not even consider it… I don’t care about the cantered camera but I do really wish it was compatible with pencil 2😢

I am actually torn between buying the Ipad 2022 vs the Ipad air 5. I won't be using the apple pencil 2 or any keyboard so that won't matter to me. I'm going to use it for note-taking mostly. The only thing pushing me towards the ipad air is the display but I am still not sure if it is worth it. What do you think I should get? I am also going to put on a screen protector for sure.

That would depend on what you want to get out of it. If you want good power, something to hold at night/read books on/something highly portable/something good for games, stay with the mini 6. If you want a keyboard, go for either the 10 or the air 4. If you want Magic Keyboard support, go with the air 4. If you want the Apple Pencil 2 support, iPad Air 4. If you want the *better* iPad for drawing, get the iPad Air. If you want a better display, go for the air.

I’m sorry but the magic folio keyboard has a trash form factor, I’ve had a Logitech Combo Touch for years now (which has backlighting btw) and the floating screen design is objectively better. The folio just won’t work on your lap, you’re forced to use it on a flat surface and it also takes a massive footprint as well smh.

@@vectorvelocity7608 I like the Samsung one too but the App Store have more apps compatible with the iPad. That’s why I choose the iPad Air instead of the Samsung. If you are going to use it for classes and write or watch movies it’s ok. But in a professional way the iPad it’s the best. I use procreate, morpholio and photoshop and with the IPad it’s wayyy better

I guess the key takeaway for this iPad is that you shouldn’t buy any accessory from Apple. Buy both the stylus and the keyboard from Logitech and life will probably be much easier, making this iPad a much better product.

The majority of users won’t use an Apple Pencil with it or want to transfer video files quickly etc. That being the case it looks like an iPad Air and is still £150 cheaper so should appeal to a broad section of buyers but obviously not the tech heads!

The pencil doesn't work while charging because it uses bluetooth in order to work. My JBL headphones don't work either when they're charging and many other bluetooth wireless devices doesn't work when they're being charged..

I’m more of a tech snob, but most people won’t notice how the display is not laminated or the color gamut, as well as some other minor shortcomings. I do think that the way Apple did the Apple Pencil with this iPad is really goofy though…

The only problem is the way they thought out the pencil situation other than that there's not a damn thing wrong with that tablet and I agree nobody is going to notice a half a millimeter gap unless they're told about it and then they go looking for it. I have it there's not a single thing wrong with it I love it and I use airplay and I mirror it right to my 50 inch 4K TV the whole screen it fills it perfectly looks great.

So with air you carry an ipad & a charger --the pencil is just there and you can forget about it or even pairing it if you turn off the bluetooth. With the 9th gen ipad, its the charger, the ipad, and you have to think about pairing and charging the pencil. But with the 10th gen, you have to carry an ipad, a pencil, a dongle plus you have to think about charging it...and it's still unclear how you would pair it because for 9th gen the pencil goes in the ipad's lightning port, the air --the pencil sticks on top...this pencil has a male lightning port and the ipad and dongles both have female type-c and lightning....How would you even pair it? Will it be a hassle if you turn off bluetooth often like a lot of people do...the point is, apple devices are supposed to "Just work", here, the user has to think...everytime they use it, everytime the battery drops, everytime they turn off the bluetooth or airplane mode...they have to think..and that's primarily why it sucks! And the screen isn't better, the storage isn't better...it's just a cosmetic change with added type-c port in a pretty wireless device. And Nobody cares about the camera or A14 chip, hardware is never an issue in ipads, everyone knows that.

it varies on the person and their choice in device. not everyone uses the more recent models that support the gen 2 pencil. some use the 9th gen ipad that supports the gen 1 pencil, and older ipad models too. it’s just different for each person and their own personal preference.

Hot take: this only happened thanks to EU USB-C regulation. They probably been working on this iPad for a while and it was planned to have lightning, in that way it would’ve worked normal. They didn’t plan the wireless charge for cost reducing, having the centered camera plus supporting older apple pencils from previous owners. They had to change it last minute, adding the wireless charging for Apple Pencil 2 would’ve been impossible for the deadline. Still they managed to up the price by a lot, and that abomination of Apple Pencil workflow. They F up, this iPad shouldn’t exist.

The Pencil is done that way because they couldn’t use the Pencil 2. Where would you put it with the camera in the way in landscape mode? You can have one or the other, not both. On top of that, education is one of the biggest users of the base iPad. They aren’t allowed to buy discontinued or refurbished products because schools need support for the lifetimes of the tablet. Most of those schools have tons of Pencil 1’s already.
