Latifi's engineer knew they got full points. Hence why Latifi got told right after crossing the line that he got two points. So atleast someone knew!

@@mtrps_ No, Lando's engineer only confirmed that the race was finished halfway through the circuit -- listened to it live. The "drivers' over the line radio" video is heavily edited. Lando was going full pelt after crossing the line, Latifi was as well, I'd bet he was only informed later too.
@zulubunsen9067

Okay, just checked to be absolutely sure. Latifi was at 130R (after he got the checker), when his engineer told him that the race was over -- so almost a full lap later. The "two points" comment was only made when Latifi stopped the car in the pits, *not* right after crossing the line. As I said, the "over the line radio" is absolutely unreliable in this regard.

*championship post race press conference - because Sergio & Charles were forced to leave. Sorry for being a smartass. Nice from him but knowing the current FIA panel, clark of the course, Pirelli employment & the stewards (however is required to green light that) this will come to nothing. 1. This would be an advantage for Max & Red Bull already had an advantage in 2021 against Merc. 2. It's not environment friendly to waste this much water (flying across the global and driving in questionable countries improves the 'climate' 🤡) 3. Hey, Pirelli build us better tyres. - How? Well, it worked in 2022 - No! That's the reason why Max mentioned it. Oh, okay - well I guess...I don't know has anybody an idea how we can improve the tyres?! (4. Fire Pirelli because some tyre compound is always below the standard) Sorry, got a bit lost there.

16:50 The bigger confusion is: Earlier this year at Monaco the race was also stopped by the 3 hour time limit for the event. But that wasn't a hard stop but this +1 lap after Perez crossed the line. At that moment there was a lot of confusion for commentators who didn't know if we would get this 1 extra lap or not, but we apparently did. I think what went wrong this weekend was that the time went on 0:00 and they were thinking. Ow the clock stopped and the leader just passed the finishline, then this has to be the last lap, without realising that the leader actually passed the finishline with still some time on the clock

@@gmarz9611 Nope. People including me watched it back on F1tv by watching live stream, the live map tracker, the onboard of max compared with onboards of leclerc/perez and the timer in the live feed, and came to the conclusion that max crossed the finishline with around 5seconds left on the clock

Thank you for highlighting how awful the FIA and Sky's treatment of the recovery vehicle incident was. I genuinely felt sickened listening to the pundits blaming Gasly when there is no universe where these tractors should be on track with the cars, let alone in the awful conditions they were racing in. They all owe Gasly an apology at the very least, and they need to ensure this NEVER happens again.

I was so incredibly angry at the FIA regarding what happened with the tractor. I kinda hoped Pierre would come in the pits, take his helmet off and went straight to his hotel, just to make a statement. Disgusted with how the FIA responded (or the lack of) #ripJB17

I honestly think the Pierre (or the Drivers as a group) should sue the F1/FIA for reckless endangerment. Their own report said it is too dangerous it would be very difficult for them to defend themselves in court. It seems the only thing F1/FIA will listen to is money, so sue them to force them to listen.

We need close fights, but Ferrari keeps screwing that up :( I'm a Dutch person by the way and therefore enjoy the dominant performance of Max, but I also love seeing him fight for it. Last season was epic, because it should have ended with two world champions. There was nothing between the two title contenders. This season there was just no match for him. Concerning the Gasly "incident" one of the problems is the delta times. It just means you can't arrive sooner at a certain point than time X. So, in theory, you can go really slow at some point and then go really fast at another point and still arrive "on time". The delta time should be accompanied by a minimum and a maximum speed.

Absolutely spot on, on all points. Points ruling fiasco, safety, and race duration. Something I've never considered on my previous times being at a track, was that the conditions could shorten the race. The FIA should reconsider the race start times and durations, with attention to factors shortening the race for attending fans. While trying not to complete disrupt the global broadcast. the 3 hour window is the start of a good idea but implemented horribly. my thought is that there is 3 hours from the start of the race to restart the race to be run the full length (or 2 hours). That means that at any circuit that is not set up to be a night race circuit, they must schedule the start of the race to be at least 5 hours prior to no useable light. This would avoid the racing being stopped at its best, like we saw this weekend, it would also eliminate the points confusion we saw as any race that restarts, will be restarting for full points.

Extreme wet tyres should be mandatory until race control says otherwise. We have something similar with DRS not being enabled until the race director decides is safe to do so. In italy there was a recovery vehicle btw on the track, when Ricardo's car stopped. ( I hope I remember the track correctly, but there was definetaly a recovery truck on the side of the track. Check the replay, I think one of the cars was also almost hitting it.) Wonder why noone is talking about it/noone was talking about it

Something that caught my attention from the tractor incident: it clearly shouldn't have been released to go to the stopped car, but on top of that I was surprised to notice that there wasn't a flashing yellow emergency light on top of the vehicle to draw attention to itself, especially in low visibility conditions like that. You see that all the time on roadside construction sites.

Given the time difference, the insane start, drivers almost dying, the lengthy rain delay, and then the restarts, by the end of this race, I was genuinely so exhausted, I just didn't care. I felt like the end of the race, put my out of my misery and I went straight to sleep. I'm no Max or RB fan, but given what all went down last year, I felt for the guy not having his race win shown, and sort of kind of finding out he had won, and then the whole awkward shuffle about through confusion. He fought hard this year and deserved every bit of his win, but this race was a s--t show.

The problem with the full wet tires is the fact the FIA won't let them race in conditions that require them. Red flag when it rained harder and they pulled the safety car in after it was dry enough for inters. Button mentioned it as well when asked about the inters vs wets.

I personally dont think you can blame Pirelli for the wet tyres being unusable. It's been said before, but they made the tyres F1 want. F1 need to do an investigation into the wet tyre compounds and update the requirements of both the full wets and the inters to ensure that no one is risking inters in those conditions (at the start of the race). I'm not suggesting making the inters worse, but if there is this much of a problem with the wets then I'm sure the inters could be improved to clear more water while still being good.

Katy rules rants are my favorite rules rants. Go OFF!! (Not including the Gasly rant, which should never ever have to happen again, but it all needed to be said. I was tearing up during your segment, Katy. Massive hugs to you.) Re: Gasly. I was VERY emotional as well. It was around 4 am here in the US by then, and I very well may have woken up my neighbors with my tearful ranting. Absolute furious helplessness. I just desperately wanted to give Pierre a hug. I'm SO glad this was my first weekend watching on F1 tv pro. I might have broken my television if Sky was the commentary I heard. F1tv at least were vehemently angry, and not implying any fault to Gasly. This entire race was such a fustercluck, and I hate hate hate that it was the championship decider. (sorry for all the edits. listening/writing from Virginia, USA. Just moved here from Austin, about 5 miles from CotA.)

I believe if a more competitive full wet tire existed almost every problem we've seen in the last few years at races in the rain would have been fixed. This year in particular we've seen Monaco, Singapore, Japan all with major delays because of, at least in part, water on track. Teams and drivers will do everything they can to stay away from the wet tire because it is so bad that the FIA won't let them race in the weather the wet tires are built for because as soon as the inter might be faster someone is going to gamble with it, and very often crash. The FIA not letting cars on track during full wet conditions then extends the time it takes to get racing because 20 F1 cars with full wets will always be better at drying a race track than a medical car and marshals with brooms. Also why making the inter a softer compound than the wet seemed like a good idea to anyone is beyond me.

If you remove the tractor from the situation, Gasly was still travelling far too fast at that point on the track as Carlos' car was still on the track, and he knew that.

Maybe the extreme wet tires shouldn’t be as good at displacing water as they are? Realistically most of the time they don’t end up actually racing when it’s proper extreme wet conditions, and even if they did, the tires get rid of SO much water that it’s ready for inters so quickly. There needs to be a balance between making the wet tires safe, but also make them useable for longer. The gap between them need to be shorter.

I'm sure not many will read this but the teams are to blame for the wet tire problem! Pirelli has said multiple times that they want to develop a wet tire that is better but it's the teams that refuse to help during testing because they say it's not worth it. So I understand why people are mad about the wets being so bad but you can't really blame the tire manufacturer for this one. You can blame them for a lot of other stuff though!

Isn’t the issue with deltas and VSC / SC that the safety car goes slower than the delta? Which is why drivers are able to catch the SC. With a VSC all drivers adhere to the same delta. Could be wrong but that’s always how I thought it worked.

Bathurst on the same day (ignore the fact that Masi was actually there) they have the raido message from race control with camera feed in their office as well. The transparency helps with the experience and clarity of the rules. For a race that had over 6 safety cars there was little to no confusion

Sainz made a mistake if you watch closely. He turned in slightly to quick, came off the ideal line and onto the wetter part of the track, which resulted in the spin. E is high enough. Otherwise he could have been there for the battle between Perez and Leclerc.
