It’s not exactly only the tune that is different btw Elantra N and K5/Sonata engine. K5/sonata has the new cylinder head with cvvd.

Very nice review Kirk. At first when I got my Accord with a 10-speed I did not like the button shifters but now that I've owned it for over a year now I think it's pretty cool 😂

Been trying to buy the K5, but every Kia delivery to the dealer got snap up quickly so finally putting down a reservation for one. The good thing about Kia is that they sell their cars at MSRP while many other brands are marking up sky high. Toyota dealers don't even show the MSRP price anymore, but call for price. The LX model cost $25,560 and cheaper than many older used cars with less tech.

My son just ordered a GT with the GT1 package, where he or it at did mark it up about 3.000. They do double the warranty,20 years 200.000 miles, $40.000

Just traded in my stinger, definitely check for moonroof and center console rattles before you buy because dealer couldn’t fix mine

And has the worst engines ever. Good luck reaching around 100k miles without needing an engine replacement. After my grandma was in georgia heat in a kia optima that engine went bye bye I can't forgive them. My uncle always got on me about not wanting a car with a cvt but im at 395k miles on my cvt while his car just over 100k miles went bye bye.

I wont disagree with you. The camry has been out for years and it proved to us its the best mid size car money can buy. The accord ditched the v6 which is sad since it was a really good platform though.

I much prefer exhaust tips that terminate under the car. That way you don’t have to deal with discolored body panels.

Kirk , u r doing a great job here. I think it's time u to drop the constraints of limiting yourself to 🇯🇵 and 🇰🇷 cars. U should be a car journalist. According to this approach u are limiting car companies from accessing u as well as limiting your audience. I know that u conduct a survey before, but rethink about it.

He is only doing two cars right now because to talk about every single brand would be so time consuming and a huge strain. Kirk had 4 daughters, which means he would have to split his time. I rather have Kirk be a great reporter on two brands then be a sucky reporter reporting on all brands. I can name you a lot of car reviewers who have million plus subscribers who completely sucks at reviewing cars and talking about cars.

Kirk I think you made an error regarding android auto not being wireless. I rented this car for a week and my phone did mirror via Bluetooth. I think this car is easily best in class. I loved it except for the headlight illumination. It was too dim in my opinion. Its a great road trip car

If you don’t want to press the pedal after coming to a complete stop you can also push the cruise button up and the car will take off on it’s own.

I had Optima turbo direct inject back in 2008. Loved that car with striking design back then. That was the GDI engine that has given issues over the years. I leased that, so I cannot tell the long term issue of catching fire. But I never had the issue until I turned it over. The issue is people don’t take care car enough. Direct injection does make a build up inside engine and proper maintenance will prevent any issues. I believe those owners who do not take care of their car with timely maintenance gets that issue. Every ICE cars have that potential. BMW was known for that engine fire with their diesel model. I had Camry and had to give it up early due to its faulty shift by wire issue. I believe the new engine design kid if address that issue by mixing MPI and GDI. Again, proper maintenance and check up should prevent a lot of issues at the end of the day.

K5 is a solid vehicle indeed unlike the sonata which is butt ugly

This and Sonata are two cars really love but loving the Sonata more. Kia and Hyundai have better exteriors now than Toyota and Honda.
