Man, do you think that you for you take the "long" way around solving things? You seem very technical and intelligent and that's something to be admired. However, you took 34 minutes to basically say that the bike was stalling with the clutch in and that it has a sputtering issue. This really isn't a laundry list. Why if there was a problem at "0" hours did you not take the bike back to the dealer and have them rectify it for you. You've done a ton of experimenting and time suck stuff that could have been handled without such internal struggles. I'm going to take a guess here and say that you'll find out that the pressure sensors aren't your issue either. I'm no mechanic but by the way you seem to go about getting locked in on things, I think this will end up the case. That is one fantastic bike. I literally am trading my 2022 LTM 300 xc-w Erzbergrodeo in on the 250 xc-w and having it set up for me after buying one for my kid. The 250 has been flawless. Maybe you'd be wise to just take it to the dealer and let them have a go at it before you make the mistake of trading away a phenomenal enduro machine for bike that's basically a KX250 with some very small trail-friendly mods.

My dealer in Aus did the exact same thing with my clutch and idle issue from hour 0 also so I feel your pain, you end up just wanting to try fix it yourself as the standard response for some issues is that "its normal" when you definitely know in yourself its not the way it should function and before you know it the short warranty period is over, I have hit 80 hours on my 2020 so persisted with the issues but it has made me want to explore a different brand as ktm seem to let issues drag on way too long before a permanent fix is achieved (clutch, ccps, idle etc, they have been occuring for 4 years now) but I definately love 2 strokes still :)

I watched the entire video and you’re spot on. I just bought a 2023 TPI KTM and I’m having this bogging issue too. What did do after ALL this to make it run properly? And did these issues come back or is it sorted for good?
That video is long and needs couple updates, but covers most of it. I did a lot of work that I think all contributed to it running clean. Its been running good for about 80+ hours now, although I do think its time to clean the CCPS sensor and/or get a fresh one. I think the important pieces to focus on for starting off are the CCPS Sensor / CCPS hose connections + idle mod. That does the trick for most people. Full List of Mods: Right now I'm running a simplified CCPS sensor connection (hose directly to sensor) with better clamps, new oem CCPS and AIR sensors, Two Stroke Performance Injector Relocation Kit with their ECU mapping, Idle mod screw, vforce reeds, new CCPS brass hose nipple threaded into the cylinder head with high temp thread sealant (my original brass nippple cracked and I dont know if it was cracked all along/leaking, but eventually it broke off). I also converted bike to pre-mix (after installing injector reloc kit), added high comp head, fmf fatty and powercore muffler (originally I had fmf with spark arrestor, unsure if that caused issues - stock bike comes without arrestor so when with fmf without spark arrestor) . Once all of this was installed, I basically tried to set my idle screw as low as it could go without tripping the check engine light (if you set idle too low, the TPS sensor says voltage too low - bike will still run but you have blinking engine light constantly).
@hardendurobosnia173 жыл бұрын
That power valve screw seems to be screwed in more than usual I you check 1. Fuel pressure 2. That the power valve opens at 5500 rpm 3. Pressure sensor swap 4. Engine compression 5. Tps sensor voltage It should run right Also get the 103 map

Great bikes for sure, but they do need a few things. My 21 Te250i was fouling plugs and began running rough as well after about 20 hours. Changed the CCPS sensor and instantly better. Happened again, realized what was happening is I forgot to remove the wash plug from the muffler after washing it. Possibly when I tried to start the bike (with the plug still in pipe) the excess pressure damaged the sensors. My bike too would stall very easily. Seemed I was adding a bit too much gearbox oil, once filling up til it ran out the screw on side cover and adding the idle screw mod it runs fantastic. Lugs way down and doesn't stall, much easier to pop the front wheel over objects from a stop etc. Also, I sent the suspension to Kreft moto for revalving and proper springs for me. Granted this is a lot to have to do to a $10,000 bike, but I really cant imagine a better bike for the mountain singletrack riding I do.

Our buddy bought a NOS 2019 Six-days 450 4T a year ago. Constant running issues. Not TPI obviously, but F.I. Biggest POS ever. His 2013 450 EXC-W was great, until he failed to clean the OEM fuel filter and we had to tow him back... His even older RFS 450 even better. I think these new TPI's have two issues, #1 is KTM Engineers do not have theses figured out. #2, they are on a Fuel Injected platform, which also has problems. I remember back in the 70's we took our stock 2 stroke enduros, Yamaha 90 and Kawasaki 120 that had oil injection and carburetors, stripped the oil pump, tank and all related pieces and began pre-mixing, only because that was the hot set-up, or trick thing to do on an early 70's bike. My point is, oil injection worked and it worked with carbs. Also nothing was electronic! IMO, carbs are better. Another friends 2013 KX 450F has starting issues when ambient temps are high. Again, it's a F.I. bike. I ride a 2003 525 EXC Race and NEVER have problems. As an option, I also think that replacing a typical Keihin or Mikuni with a Lectron carb may just be the ultimate way to go. I don't think I would ever buy a F.I. dirt bike. As far as I know, you shouldn't experiment with different oils in these. You shouldn't have to tinker with them like that, and if you do you should take it back to the dealer. There's atleast a 30 day warranty, but not if you start experimenting with it like that. That will void the warranty. You should not add oil to the fuel and you have to use special plugs, not the standard ones.

Gasgas ec 300 2021 30 hours. Same problems. Everything you just said i totally agree with! Mine is running terrible down low. I have switch the sensors around. But I connected the ccp sensor directly to the hose, no need for it to sit in the mud collecting shit tray. I bought a new (not oem) sensor, recommended from ktmtalk and others to fit as air pressure sensor. (allso tried 4 different sensors ive taken from scrap yard cars, non of them worked) The weird thing is when i unplug the baro sensor it runs perfect, and do not stall as before, pulls like a train all the way up, even more than my ktm exc 450, not running warm or popping fron exhaust just runs perfect! . Have you tried running it without the baro plugged in? I live at sea level, so maybe im just lucky that it is the right level with the baro unplugged. Dont know. My clutch engagement is changing all the time when it gets warm. I have it close to the grip, but it moves out untill it is at the fingertips. I changed the fluid 5 times now. So the next thing is to open it op. Ive heard little about the Get ecu not needing the baro sensor, maybe its a possible solution🤔

I will switch these two sensors around to see if it makes a change. I noted that even though the oem sensors look exactly the same, the numbers on them are different, dont know if its just the production number or what🤔 if not, I cant see why they should be different in the numbers other than if they are different. But thats just me speculating🤔 Thanks for the heads up with the clutch, going to put it in number one. I tied my ccp sensor to the cluch cable. @philipsmith61523 жыл бұрын
I have had the same probs with my 20 300, you've done a ton of research so you know they have a cold (rich) map and a hot map in the ecu, when you start it cold you need to use the cold start button (choke) an let it idle for 3-5 mins without touching the throttle, during this time the bike is running an the cold (rich) map, then turn off the cold start button and shut it down, don't let it sit there idling to warm it up or you'll foul plugs, once its at operating temp, you can do what you want. I have never fouled a plug, but Im on my 2nd ccp sensor, Im hoping KTM fix this issue with the sensor soon. I think the KX is a step backward, had a 350 and they've got there issue too...constant staling & starting !! Good luck man 👨
@RidefreakTV3 жыл бұрын
cold start isn't essential and many never use it. Nether is touching the throttle or blipping it an issue. Doesn't hurt anything other then revving a cold motor which isn't an issue with a blip. The ecu is going off the engine temp, below a certain degree it's running richer, temp is the only factor controlling that extra richness, not throttle nor the air bypass (cold start). Cold start is a convenience, nothing else. Hold the throttle slightly open immediately after it starts and 10 seconds later you can let go and let it idle never using the cold start and everything is fine. The fouling is almost always operator error, don't shut it off and let it cool down before it fully warms up or else there's a risk next time its started and run through the rich warmup cycle (on a clouded plug from the previous incomplete warmup) it's much more likely to foul. Happens to most of the riders that aren't aware of this. Had the OP done a little research on the bike he purchased, half these issues wouldn't be issues, they were hashed out long before he purchased that 2022.

"These bikes aren't like your traditional 2-stroke bikes. They should be able to idle all day and not foul plugs." Gets a fouled spark plug.
@RidefreakTV3 жыл бұрын
Plug fouling in these is almost always operator error, they cannot be started and shut down before warming fully up and clearing out the plug before shutting it down. The ecu richens up the mixture significantly during warmup which takes time, it's a cold running motor, during that time the plug sees allot of oil, not a problem, it leans back out once the motor is warm. If the rider shuts it down prior to getting warm and being run that the plug is clouded with oil and it never gets burned off. Next time the ecu does the same thing and and while it's warming up the new oil collects on top of that old oil that was never burned off. At that point it's at high risk of fouling. Most tpi riders let their bike idle far longer then any carb'd 2 stroke would idle on choke and have no issues. 100 hrs is noting on the sparkplug on one of these motors, many are still running the original plug far longer. Plug fouling is common with someone who doesn't understand the how the TPI ECU enrichens the motor.
