2021 300 XCW - Bought new 6 weeks ago. Had issues from day one. A bad oil leak that was fixed under warranty and a hesitation in the powerband the dealer couldnt fix. Came back from the dealer with a low idle. I have had it on the trails once since then and it was amazing. So nimble and light but plenty of torque. Excellent for the tight stuff I ride. I am waiting for a TSP medium comp head and my refreshed ECU. That should fix the idle and hesitation. Cant wait to put lots of hours on it.

Wow, that's really unfortunate. Put in the idle screw for an easy fix there. Did they adjust your power valve?
@TheTedbull
@TheTedbull 3 жыл бұрын
@@ShiftGearsMoto they did adjust the power valve. And the power comes on sooner but still with the hesitation. I will do the idle screw mod with the TSP kit. Should be dialed after that.

Great bike. I haven't had any of the 5 issues but think my sensor may be acting up. I will swap the spark plug before making my conclusion. I was really miffed I didn't get a kick start but now I am just going to invest in a jump start battery since all my bike no longer have the kick start. Nice video.

Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you enjoyed it. A new spark plug is a great place to start and then move to the sensor. There are simple ways to bump start the bike if you need. A battery jumper would be a lot to carry in your pack IMO.

Carbed 2 strokes are better IMO. For 2022 model year you can buy either a carbed or a TPI 2 stroke for the TM brand. That's what KTM should do.

I have a 2020 250XC that has 13 hours on it and has fouled roughly 20 plugs in those 13 hours. They ALL foul on startup. Typically I will do a cold start with the "choke" out and sometimes the bike starts and sometimes the bike fails to start and after 2 or 3 attempts to start the plug is just completely black covered in oil and fouled. The bike also ran like absolute dog shit straight from factory and after a while I saw online how many people were suggesting the CCPS sensor replacement. I did that and the bike seems to be running quite a bit better but it still fouls plugs like it is it's job. I had a 2019 300XCW TPI that I put over 100 hours on the stock OEM plug best motor ive ever ridden.

Great video, keep up the good work. I will say that your issue with foiling plugs might have something to do with how you warm up the bike. Unlike a 4 stroke, you can't leave these tpi 2 strokes to warm up on idle as there will be unburnt oil of fuel still in the engine. Just keeping the revs above idle when warming up the bike will help out Alot. Hope this helps. Keep up the great vids.

@@ShiftGearsMoto So this is true, But never start the bike and just start riding it. With the TPIs you want to let them sit there and idle until they get the Rads hot to touch. The computer adjusts everything not like the old carb bikes where you had to blip the throttle.

Can someone please tell me how to correctly start and warm up these 2T TPI’s!!?? I’m getting mixed advice from everyone that I am confused who to listen to 😳
@ShiftGearsMoto
@ShiftGearsMoto 2 жыл бұрын
Since TPI's are oil injected, the amount of oil is constantly changing, unlike a carb 2 stroke where whatever ratio you mix at, you will get at all RPMs. With TPI's it's calculated based on several metrics, including RPMs. Warm up should be treated like a 4 stroke. Let it idle until it nears operating temp without blipping throttle and use the cold start when necessary.
@kirstyanderson4570
@kirstyanderson4570 2 жыл бұрын
@@ShiftGearsMoto Thanks. I’m having similar problems to what a faulty CCPS would cause and now my spark plugs are fouling. Pretty much everyone around me keep telling me DONT let it idle, keep blipping the throttle because it’s a 2 Stroke!! I’m getting the CCPS looked at this week

Idle is subjective to where you live, and seals go out. You should expect them to eventually leak. They’re covering, hot moving objects. They get worn, and will leak. Electronics go out, and I really don’t know why you’d need a spark arrester on the stock pipe, those bikes a SILENT😂 mine still is even with aftermarket pipe. Anyways. Do preventative maintenance. It’s just part of a new bike. KTM’s are SOLID bikes. Made with some of the best products available.
@ShiftGearsMoto
@ShiftGearsMoto Жыл бұрын
Exactly, which is why not having the ability to adjust the idle out of the box is crazy. The idle adjustment screw mod is a must. A spark arrestor has nothing to do with sound. It's required in some areas, specifically state parks for safety. This is an off-road bike and you might expect it to come with one. No issue for me, but I know a lot of people in the PNW mention this. KTMs are by far my favorite bikes. I just picked up a new one a few weeks ago. No bike is perfect.
