2022 Lexus ES300h Review: *WHY* Has it Been SO SUCCESSFUL?!

Here's a recipe for DISASTER these days: release a LUXURY sedan... Well, this one has worked out VERY WELL for Lexus...
Today we take a look at the facelifted Lexus ES300h (hybrid), a mid-sized luxury sedan introduced into a dying car market segment. But can it compete with the likes of the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 series, considering it is HALF THE PRICE?!? Let's talk about it!

Great video, the ES is a quality car! It is funny, the ES is almost a flop in the UK next to the 5 series and A6's. I do really like the clock, I test drove a F sport for my channel not that long ago.

had a 2014 es300H for a work vehicle a few years back. The best Comfortable car I have ever driven! was it fast? No but I didnt care! work paid for it and it was awesome! ( now work has given us Aurions which are nice but not as nice as the lexus )

@@CarSauce But you were complaining about the Toyota Camry which doesn't make sense as the Camry hybrid and ES300h drives the same but the Lexus has better materials as well as better build quality.

I'd upgrade my Camry hybrid SL for this, based on the interior alone. Also the JBL sound is just average on the Camry too.

@@billybob1511 well, it sounds crazy. The ES300h has not much in common with the Everest at all! I'm looking for a safe vehicle. Not just ANCAP safe (like the Lexus here). I consider, without expertise, that a body on ladder frame vehicle that has a 5 star 2022 ANCAP rating (all those safety systems that are required to get a 5 star in 2022) will be safer than a monocoque build. What do you think?

c3557 lead times are ridiculous for Lexus. I went with a Genesis GV70 and am really happy I did. 4k into it now and very happy

We have a Lexus UX. We had to nominate the base "Luxury" model to avoid the stupid Sport gimmicks. I don't understand why Lexus bothers with any sporty pretense when there are so many better cars for that out there. The sport settings are stupid and whoever thought piping fake engine noises in to cover up the CVT is a straight up idiot! A Lexus is supposed to be refined, silent, smooth and they are in Luxury trim. If you are considering any Lexus, do yourself a favour and try a Luxury trim along side the F Sport. The F Sport is a clown car in comparison, right down to the big corny F on the steering wheel. For every car in the range there is a Luxury model lurking underneath, all add ons are just marketing junk that detracts from the true essence of what Lexus is; indulgence. If you feel the need for the F Sport just get a Maloo ute or something. It will run rings around the Lexus. Having said that, there is vacant place in my shed for a LC500 for when the economy crashes and their value declines to fair value. Because it is a great sports car? Don't be daft; because it is beautiful and it is a Lexus so won't just fall apart sitting there.

The Camry SL Hybrid has come a long way, and it's a pretty hard sell for almost double the price I think. It does sell well to fleets for chauffeured cars as it's a big, luxurious car and pretty frugal on fuel for its size

Not sure what the price is of the ES in the video, but while the Camry hybrid SL is really nice to drive, for $50k I think the interior is pretty boring grey Japanese business-like. The interior with the wood of the lexus is on another planet.

I hope you know it’s not technically a “cvt transmission” in a traditional sense. They only share the actual letters as “cvt” but it’s completely not the same thing.

It's to "offer the driver more control over the car".

@@Vikturus22 Cvts have one infinite gear, but with the help of the computer they get divided into smaller "gears" that are "simulated". Basically, Faked gears... And, Paddle shifters gives the driver a more engaging driving experience. And it gives you that option to squeeze out a little more performance by building rpm. It's mainly the option for enthusiastic drivers.

Crazy, in the UK the market is dominated by JLR products vs a Lexus. You will probably see more Lamborghini's than Lexus on UK roads. I think Lexus sold 10 LS models in 2021.
