Love this Lexus LC, really like the spec on your tester! My dream car (excluding the LFA).

Yet another LC 500 review that bangs on about the touchpad...I have the pleasure to own a 500 coupe, in red. I'm in the UK so I work the pad with my left hand, but being left-handed, and using a touchpad with my imac, it took me maybe a couple of hours to get used to it. A damn sight better than touchscreens, which I hate with a passion. All LC owners I've communicated with feel the same way about the touchpad. Oh, and you never use the excellent voice control, which understands my accent perfectly (actually, I don't have an accent, I speak the Queen's (OK, now the King's) English) 🙂Like, how about "Turn on driver's heated seat"? Anyway, it really is a great car, and being an older chap I like it just the way it is, no boy-racer spacers etc. On a recent long journey on busy motorways I actually got 40 mpg (British gallons) which is remarkable for a 5 litre V8.

Set up CLIMATE CONCIERGE. If you want the seat warmer than the default setting you chose, simply press the TALK BUTTON and say "SHOW SEAT HEATER SCREEN". Then, slide your fingers Up or Down. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4e6dpiuesyGgsk (3:52 INTO THE VIDEO and pause it) This car is high-tech and complex, very complex. But, if you spend a little time learning about it, you will be amazed at just how great the car really is. It is more than apparent that about 95% of all reviewers are complete morons. They ASSUME they should be able to know everything there is to know about the LC 500. Only a moron assumes that! The fact is the TRACKPAD is mainly there to set up VOICE COMMAND so you almost never have to use the TRACKPAD. That means you almost never have to take your eyes off the road. What a concept! What a car! If people would just read...THE INSTRUCTIONS, they wouldn't have to make complete fool of themselves.

Another thrilled LC owner here, also with the a red convertible, I can confirm the trackpad is fine, after a day or two with the car you’ll be zipping through screens with ease without feeling in danger while driving, also the voice command is indeed fantastic. This car is a dream come true every time you look at it, let alone drive it. I’ve owned mine approximately 14 months and I still feel like a 6 year old on Christmas morning and i’m 40! If any of you have an opportunity to buy this magnificent creation do it without hesitation and for the love of God don’t sell it! It will be a collectors car like the LFA eventually!

@@peteralmoI’m also a 4yr daily driver of a heavily modified LC, and I cringe when 1day or 1week reviewers rag on the infotainment. You get used to it in about a month and I’ve grown to love it so much that even I consider trading for a convertible,I do NOT want a 2024 bc of the implementation of that stupid sideways tablet compared to the beauty of the integrated infotainment of the 2018-2023. I drove a2024 and hard pass

@@wwdd83 I couldn’t agree with you more. Aesthetically the touch pad takes away that beautiful interior style line that runs through the interior seamlessly. Our LCs’ interior is superior in my opinion

Gorgeous interior, slick exterior. That touch pad certainly isn't boomer friendly. Great illustration of the rattling in the convertible over the train tracks. I appreciate very much your bringing up the positives, such as that sound, but also the negatives, such as the gear display lagging when manually shifting 12:15. If you want to take your excellent review to the next level, film it in action instead of only talking about it.

Here's a life lesson for you boys. Never assume you know more than the people who made the product you're reviewing. You should ask yourself... would the best designers and engineers "expect me" to fiddle with the trackpad while I'm driving at 65-70 mph? Think! What is that set of books that came included with the car? Could it be the instructions? If you were a Cessna 172 pilot and just purchased a Citation X Business Jet, would you assume that since you knew how to fly a simple Cessna single prop you could simply step into the left seat and fly the very complex jet? Hint: The answer is "hell no". You would read and learn all about your NEW MACHINE but you didn't do that with the LC, did you? Had you done this, you would have known to run MENU/SETUP on the software and select all of your personal preferences...doors, radio stations, seats, temperature, bluetooth, gps etc. These can always be changed whenever you like. Next, go to the chapter on VOICE COMMAND because once you learn this, and it's not hard, you almost NEVER have to touch the trackpad. Press a button on the left side of the steering wheel, wait for the beep, and then TELL THE CAR WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. For instance...Radio, AM 780 or Navigation , Find pizza restaurant, or Phone, call my wife, or Text your client to tell him you're running ten minutes late or CLIMATE turn on AC...etc. etc. etc. Only in rare instances do you touch the trackpad. For instance: you get in the car and start it and suddenly a COLD FRONT moves in and your preferred CLIMATE SETTING with the seats is going to be too cold. Left button, CLIMATE, Select Concierge and then with no more effort than using your turn signal, adjust the temperature of your seat(s). I absolutely don't like having to do this. You guys are adults and it's time you do things responsively so your viewers get the right idea about your reviews. It is unfair to them and to Lexus when you don't do your homework, guys. So, never assume you know more than the people who made the product. Always assume "it's me" who has to learn and I guarantee that you will enjoy this car and all the other cars the way they were meant to be enjoyed.

if I have to open the manual in order to use the car... in some sense I've already felt it is not a good sign.. people don't pay that much money for homework
@fontking1a2 жыл бұрын
@@hwy9nightkid It's actually called being an adult. With that kind of know it all attitude you're missing the point once again. A pilot who can fly a single prop Cessna 172 and then purchased a Learjet 60 would never think the way you are thinking because he'd crash and burn. The Lear, like the LC is a complex machine that does require people to learn all about it they want to take full advantage of all that it has to offer. What you are advocating is using the trackpad when it is unnecessary when all that you have to do is press your left thumb on a button and talk to the car. Isn't it simpler to do that and say "radio, am 780" as opposed to fumbling with the trackpad? Sure, have it your way. Be a car reviewer who does a half-ass job. Maybe that's what you meant by "The Pinnacle of Self-Awareness".

@@hwy9nightkid This is the problem with folks today. Can't be bothered to get educated on an intended design, yet sit and comment about how it's not intuitive. Your lack of experience with a given methodology does not take away from its intended function. For folks who can be bothered to get educated, the flow Lexus employ's is effortless. For folks who have a different methodology in mind, they complain and claim that this doesn't work for them. Suffice to say the world has gotten filled with people who are incapable of simple learning while complaining that their individual needs are not catered to. All symptoms of poor adaptability while others quickly learn and move on. Survival of the fittest, and ironically enough, folks will still complain while they are devoured by the ever evolving world around them.

@@hwy9nightkid Convoluted design? You're nuts. It's fantastic design in that you only have to use the TRACKPAD to SETUP the software so you can talk to the car and almost never need to use the trackpad again. Yeah, real convoluted!! How much easier and more efficient could it be? If you prefer taking your eyes off the road to putz around with a TOUCH SCREEN while you're traveling at over 100 feet per second, that's up to you.
