The bike is made to suit the “West Coast Club Style” riders . The Lowrider-S is made for those that prefer handling over comfort, and power over weight. The gauge is high to keep your eyes on the road. The suspension and inverted forks are used to keep cornering clearance high. The mid controls and moto-bars are used for the best handling position in traffic. This style was first used by clubs with primarily FXRs around SanFrancisco in the 70`s and 80`s. This bike wasn’t intended to be a road sofa, used for commuting to pie eating contests

@CarolinaLowrider2 жыл бұрын
I'm just the opposite. I think the tank mounted gauges look much better. I guess it's just a traditional thing for me. I'm sure the high mounted one is easier for the Rider to see, however the 20, 21 Lowrider S with the tank gauges has that old style HD look.
@jnicksnewstart2 жыл бұрын
@@CarolinaLowrider Yep! I agree with you. This just cheapened the look of the bike. Not to mention, staring down at a crappy piece of plastic. If they were so bent on do this, why didn't they go to a single piece tank? I'll take it a step further than you. I don't like everything blacked out to begin with. The lowrider was once very beautiful. Had lots of chrome and some great colors.

You can't go from a bagger/touring bike to a cruiser is basically your deal man. Just like I won't go from my '22 Lowrider S to a bagger/touring bike. It's either you dig it or you don't. For me, I don't go cross country or crazy long multi state rides and the cruiser appeals to me as it is more of an iconic HD look from earlier times. Just my opinion. Now would I love a Street Glide for long rides? Absolutely, especially riding 2 up. I added an Edward Richie sissy bar, leather swing arm bag, and a thrashin supply fork bag. Plenty enough room to pack whatever...for me anyways. Got rid of that absurd little "fairing" if you want to call it that and added a Memphis Shades road warrior with an 11" smoked out shield which helped a lot with the wind drag. Went from pegs to Joker Machine mini floorboards for both rider and passenger, Custom Dynamics LED's front and back along with a Custom Dynamics triple play brake modulator (to make brakes strobe),Stage 1 with a 2 in 1 Bassani exhaust and doing a stage 2 with a Woods torque performance cam in a couple months. Would I have bought the ST if they had in stock at the time? Yes....mainly for the fairing though.

My guess as to the reason for halogen bulbs- they're getting rid of old stock before the switch to LEDs. There's likely a pile of them in a warehouse & using them until they run out was the most fiscally responsible thing to do. Selling them on the open market would likely result in a loss as everyone is switching to LEDs.

I was looking to trade my 23 Harley Nightster Special for a 24 Low Rider S or ST, back of my mind also a Indian Sport Chief as a friend has one and loves it... fairly cold out but in the past week I spent quite a bit of time in the Harley showroom looking at and sitting on the bikes... they told me how great the fairing was, loved the look of the bikes except that stupid inky dinky small gauge... we talked numbers and they were way to far off, if they would have been reasonable I would have bought it even without a test ride as winter is just starting here... they said I need to ride it and that i'll love it, we had a slightly warmer day coming up so I took an ST out for a ride... I actually hated it, got up to 60 and the fairing wasn't good at all, wind hitting my chest and helmet... does have torque but the engine isn't smooth and the throttle it twitchy... transmission as also hard to get into 1st... the display is awful, looking at it further when I got back the saddlebags are different sizes and all the lights aren't all LED... what the hell is Harley thinking... I went to the Indian dealer and they had a new Sport Chief in red, looked awesome so I took it out for a ride... night and day difference, the Indian was sooooooooooooo much better in every way... engine and transmission felt way better, throttle response smooth in standard mode, if I want twitchy it does have sport mode, Harley doesn't have any modes... just as much torque as the Harley... it's crazy but the smaller quarter fairing didn't feel that much different than the big one on the ST... the display on the Indian is just WOW... the Indian dealer made me a good fair offer with accessories, unlike Harley so I bought it... getting 2 up and leather saddlebags, so much better than the ST's uneven and hard painted saddlebags, leather won't scratch... Harley really needs to step up their game...

I always tell people you need a few bikes. One for the long haul rides as they are more comfy. One for tinkering around. And another just to build up and beat the daylights out of. Then all your bases are covered. A fourth would be good for cornering if you like that. More sporty.

Think people need to take the review with a grain of salt... or if you live anywhere other than America. I seem to find majority of reviews coming out of America heavily biased towards riding in a straight line for a long time, how it needs more storage, the wind etc. But for others who ride these bikes on weekends and do a bit of twisties? It's a different story. It's a great all rounder. Eg. I live in Australia and we rarely go on these cross country trips, hence there are rarely any road glides, street glides etc. As it's not necessary. So yea take these type of reviews with a grain of salt.

I asked the dealer way so less then the other used bikes they had the sale's man told me know 1 liked the color of the bike really with all the upgrades that came with it beside what the 1st owner had done stage 1 done at the dealer ship ( A lot of money HD= $100.00 dollars just to look at your bike ) and all the other stuff that came with it. Got a 2023 low rider s. Stock i didnt feel that connection either. But my buddy has a 2021 with all the bells and whistles on it. I road it and connected with it in seconds. So i knew getting the 2023 model was a fit. Forward controls made the bike about 10x better. Im 6'2. To me i have better control of it now. Changed put the seat and handle bars. Brought them up and back a bit. The ride position is perfect now. Leans you back a bit taking stress off your back and arms. Had to change the air breather too. Couldnt put my foot on the begs once the forwards went on. At the end of the day its a Harley. You have to change shit on it to fit you. Sometimes you get lucky with a model that just happens to be set up for your riding style and position. Just depends on the year and model really. Ive owned about 5 different models of harley. Around 11 bikes in total. Ive had road kings i bought that were perfect as is and ive had a couple i needed to change shit on. They were different years. At the end of the day find whats right for you.

I had to choose between a 2021 and a 2023 model, and took the older one just because of looks. The tank-mounted gauges look way better. They remind me of the scales on the back of a dragon or maybe of a mohawk. It's true that the new gauges are easier to read because you don't have to look down, but this never bothered me, because I almost never need them anyway. Now you only have the strange plastic cover, like a bandage after an amputation. Why on earth didn't they take the chance and make a single-piece tank? Yes, the newer model has the bigger engine, but honestly the 114 is more than enough for any situation you could think of.
@silntstl Жыл бұрын
I never understood that whole 'the gauges are not as safe because you have to look down" argument. As a rider you should be scanning everywhere anyways so a brief glimpse isn't going to cause use to lose situational awareness and frankly if it does you probably shouldn't be riding in the first place. The gauges on the tank just look better and more classy than what looks to me to be an after thought in design.
