I definitely prefer this over normal s class. Looks better especially for a driver’s car, rather than being driven.
@scottormond79852 жыл бұрын
The EQS is definitely luxurious, but I don’t think I would pay over MRSP for one. I have a Tesla, and I’m accustomed to using one pedal driving smoothly. I appreciate your high quality video, and it’s nice to hear both of your views.

Tesla turned the once regal and classy luxury model S into a Zoom-Zoom-fast Dodge Challenger wanna-be with more speed, black accent trim, ugly black wheels and an airplane yoke... WTF???. Mercedes has just filled the gap with the EQS. I'm a former Tesla owner now. I traded it for a 450+. 418 mile range at 100% charge and plenty fast too. Great looking car... The driver lane assist distronic extended restart in stop and go traffic (auto pilot) is better than Tesla in some ways... Very impressed so far. And it even came with a steering wheel! This is a car for grown-ups who want every possible creature comfort, class, quiet cabin, great build quality, long battery range with brick and mortar dealerships in every town... And ALL configurations are the same and/or much less money than a Plaid....

autopilot gets regularly updated, so I would be curious to hear how their LKAS is better, because most likely that's been fixed since you had your tesla, especially if you are on an FSD build, which I imagine most rich people would be
@jdmoney10002 жыл бұрын
@@voltspc9394 Better in the sense that you can make small or bold steering adjustments while in auto pilot without being bumped off the auto pilot setting......way smoother......HUGE ADVANTAGE !!!!..unlike the jerky stiff auto steering abortion that aggressively forces you out of self-drive on the Tesla... That's the main advantage... And Mercedes is updating their software through their app like Tesla... FSD was a waste of money when I bought my Tesla.... Great car, but wouldn't recommend FSD anytime soon... And for the record, each car self - driving brand has a ways to go before their completely trustworthy!
@voltspc93942 жыл бұрын
@@jdmoney1000 The thing people don’t realize about companies when they claim that they do software updates is there mostly superficial, to my knowledge tesla is the only company that can directly update the firmware of every single module on the car, most “software updates” are simply for the UI and some superficial things. Frankly if you need to make a steering adjustment for any reason, the system should kick you out, if it’s doing something wrong then clearly you need to take over, not slightly adjusted. I don’t even know what that means, like you’re slightly over the lane on the highway? If that’s the case then the system is just bad at its job, there is no situation where you only need to make a slight nudge, it’s either doing the correct thing or the incorrect thing. And auto pilot has never been jerky for me, at least not for the past year, early on the braking needed some work but that was fixed when I updated to a vision only build that didn’t use the radar. As far as FSD, i’ve been testing it for a handful of months now, and the fact that it was able to be sent me over the air is just amazing. It’s still has a way to go, but its abilities are leagues above what does Mercedes could even think of doing. And once this code actually becomes really rocksolid, they’re going to trim it down for auto pilot, which will make auto pilot amazing, industry-leading, not that it isn’t already, but it’s kind of like Apple‘s processors, the gap is just going to get even bigger.
@jdmoney10002 жыл бұрын
@@voltspc9394 Case in point....Your driving on a one lane in each direction highway....an oncoming truck is too close for comfort to the center line....You want to veer slightly over to compensate and your tesla doesn't understand your motives and violently bumps you off auto-pilot....Same senario if your attempting to avoid a pothole... This does NOT happen in a EQS...hope this helps!

Nice review, the sunshade and shade for the rear seating is not available in any market. Also you can get the powered rear seats with the premium rear seating for $3,000, the $7000 is the executive rear seat package. Also the keyless go premium plus ( comfort doors) is not available in N. America. That is a deal breaker for me as I am thinking of getting the EQS but there are short falls that is missing the real S class features. I have the S class coupé , this EQS does not have the rear defroster with the almost invisible lines that clean all the rear windows completely. They have visible lines like all other cars. The wiper blades ( do have the washers in the blades) are also not the same size for the passenger side. Very disappointing for an S Class, more like other German cars and Asian cars trying to save a few dollars! Also the first edition in Canada is a one tone high tech silver. The two tone was in Germany. The Maybach version will probably have that two tone at a $15,000+ option!

I cannot say about the braking, because I have not yet driven an "EQS", but what I can say given Brian's remark on braking "hard". When I have had in the past to brake hard suddenly, I tend to really stamp on the brake pedal. To me it just seems an automatic and natural response, if one needs to stop suddenly...?

Great hardware but until Mercades can make a UI that doesn't look and navigate like dogshit I wont even consider it. Also they still aren't close to tesla when it comes to software and safety features. Mercades safety features have always been pretty gimmicky in my opinion, usually having a bunch of subsystems that each do one specific thing, whereas tesla has one overarching system that looks at everything. Also charging infustructure still needs a lot of work for CCS, which doesn't help this style of vehicle, which almost seems like its meant for long distance highway driving. I'll be interested to see what a EQE or EQC ends up looking like, especially if Mercades could get a new software team to redesign their entire UI and UX and also maybe start working on some in house self driving stuff rather than outsourcing to Nividia. This is a good start for Mercades and is pretty neck and neck with other vehicles like the Lucid Air, and their hardware rivals the best, but its a large pricetag for a first generation vehicle especially when you could get a plaid model S which is way faster. This just seems like a worse S class to me, the electric aspect negates any of the positives of a luxury vehicle. EVs are great for performance, so they should've started with a driver focused AMG car, that's lighter and faster.

If you don't need to use supercharger and you can charge with 240v at home, EQS is the winner. I sold my Tesla as I could not stand its built quality and cheap materials. And also, I hate Musk.
@voltspc93942 жыл бұрын
but the whole point of this car is to be a highway crusier, by its nature you'll want to take it on long trips, which not having superchargers kills. Until they come out with an AMG, this car is pointless, and even then the model S will be faster, so idk the point. Seems like a car that dosn't have a market

model S does now have a normal horn, it was added right after the initial launch, and this system most likely has way more phantom breaking if anything, tesla switched to vision only 6 months ago, but this is still using a radar, which is the route cause of phantom breaking.
