Thank you to all three of these amazing dealerships: www.StarBuickGMC.com, www.BrownDaub.net, www.Koch33Ford.net
In my biggest video to date, I compare almost all of the current midsize pickup trucks on the market for the 2021-2022 model years! When I was 14 or 15 I remember watching pickuptrucks.com's truck comparisons and dreaming of one day being able to just be on a panel that could compare trucks. And by the grace of God, I'm now able to do that on my own channel! (I also always wanted to pose the trucks in a cool pose like in the thumbnail and I got to check that box off too)
Lastly, I think the Ranger won right? Because it got the most awards...
Best Payload, Best Torque, (best transmission and by extension fuel economy), Worst Exterior & Worst Interior quality.

I test drove all of these and ended buying a 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat Tremor for about $48k and added the $800 Ford Performance tune backed by Ford with a 3 year 36 mile warranty......so now it has 315 hp & 370 lb ft of torque!......best midsized truck IMO hands down!!

I’m waiting to get my tune now. Wheels and tires in the morning. I liked the GMC but didn’t care for the looks a hear of reliability issues. Ford had better. MPG also. I don’t off road so the other two where never candidates. I think the ford is better then it reviews.

Nice job of pointing out the key differences of these trucks. The would-be adventurer in me leans toward the Gladiator, but it's hardly the value leader of this bunch, especially as an "all-around" truck. (For instance, its bed looks unacceptably shallow!) That said, although the Jeep is clearly the noisiest of the mid-sizers, it does offer a "Hardtop Headliner" option, which supposedly provides better noise & temperature insulation than what you experienced. Thanks for your efforts, and as a new subscriber, I look forward to more!

Love the way you ended the video in ministry. I think where the Ranger lacks in interior quality, it makes up for in other areas that the GM doesn't have. Specifically lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, and push button start. These are enormous features that get overlooked. I recently just bought a new vehicle for my wife and I vow to never own another vehicle without keyless entry/push button and without adaptive cruise. They are truly game changing features and can't really be added aftermarket. The thing that they are all missing is ventilated seats, however. But those aforementioned features being present on the Ranger give it the edge to me over the GM trucks, and the engaging drivetrain and better MPGs gives it the edge over the Tacoma for me. This is obviously all about to change of course because many of these trucks are completely changing, but when I go to buy it'll be from this current crop so I really appreciate this video!

@@ben94gt what issues have they had in general?
@ben94gt
@ben94gt Жыл бұрын
@@7CFlo the worst one was every single one of them had started misfiring before 50k miles. When we took them to Toyota they had the injectors, fuel rails, and intake manifolds replaced. Somehow it wasn't covered by warranty and each repair was between 3k-5k. In At least 3 of them we had the fan clutch seize up and break at highway speed. One of those basically grenaded the engine bay and took out the water pump, radiator, multiple hoses and lines. We ended up getting rid of it because it would have been too much to fix. Also have had a handful of them have brake issues where the pedal gets really limp and spongy and it feels sketchy as hell. We've taken those to a few different shops and no one can find anything wrong with the braking system that's causing it.

Interesting to note, that in the UK the Ranger payload is closer to 2700 lbs. Diesel engines, brakes, and the lack of full-sized trucks have the Ranger pulling double-duty with many more cab and box configurations. F Series in Canada and the US will never allow for those 'better' Rangers.

I just got a used 21 tacoma SR 4x4 v6. The dealership put a skid plate on it and trd lift with bilstein shocks. It literally looks like the trd pro. It just doesn't have locking difs or crawl mode. I don't plan on doing serious offroading anyways, maybe some dirt road travel for hunting. I like it for its simplicity and reliability abd it feels like a tank. Lastly, thanks for the verse at the end. I'm a Christian as well and that made me smile. God is good. I try to live my life by one verse. 1 Corinthians 10 31. "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

I see you're starting to evolve. I really enjoyed this comparison video. The best one when it comes to looks and resale value has to go to the Tacoma, hands down. I'm a bit biased considering I own a Tacoma but to me it has the best look out of the four. However, it does lag when it comes to power and drivetrain options and everyday comfort. The back seat is a joke, the floor sits too high, and the transmission is a dog. That's why I'm eventually trading it in for the all-new Maverick. I can't wait to get it hopefully in the next month or two.

I've test drove and sat in several Toyota Tacomas. What I've realized is that they're not all the same. I really wanted to buy one before I ever sat in one because of their reputation. But then the first one I test drove seemed off. I swear the first one I test drove had this small windshield. My view of the road felt limited. Then I sat in a Tacoma that was a Limited and it was so uncomfortable. It sat too close to the floorboard and felt like I was driving some knock off of a Lincoln town car as opposed to a mid size truck, but with even less cab space. Thankfully I kept looking at different Tacomas because the one I have now is great. It has firm seats that don't sit too low. Doesn't have that small windshield that one of the other ones did. The windshield sounds like an odd anomaly but I swear something was off about that first Tacoma. Anyways, my new Tacoma looks good, feels good, sounds good and drives like I want it to. I will admit though, I drove a Jeep Gladiator for 3 weeks as a rental and in my opinion it was the most comfortable to sit in. But I have my doubts of any Gladiator making it to 500,000 to 1,000,000 miles with just standard maintenance.

Yes, the Tacoma doesn't have all the fancy shmancy items, but the average Tacoma will last and run forever if maintained. I've had three Toy trucks since 1984, and the only major component I have had to replace is a water pump. That was on a 1994 model that I had for 18 years, and it sold for more than book price with a rusted frame. Take that Jeep, Ford, and GMC. Also, I have a new Tacoma being delivered Feb 24, so the saga will continue. I didn't even look at the competition. I wanted a truck's truck that is near bullet proof as possible, and is fun to drive off road, and on the street.

I subscribed because of your willingness to publicly profess your faith in Jesus Christ. As far as the trucks are concerned, I wanted to get a Tacoma because of their reliability, but I didn’t like the inability to adjust the drivers seat to a comfortable setting for me. I ended up getting the Ranger because of its comfortable seating and good gas mileage. Depending on weather and traffic, I’m getting between 19-22 mpg in town, and between 24-26 mpg on the highway. Since I know diesel engines get better fuel mileage, I’m debating on getting a diesel Colorado or Canyon for my next truck. God bless!

Great review, but the Jeep looks more like a full size p/u. It would have been fun if you would have line them all up to see the difference? Thanks. I'm a Christian also. Amen. Note the Jeep does have alot more aftermarket and personalizing options than the others.

Bummer! I totally feel like the Ridgeline has a place in this review. It has differences for sure, but it has a place in the spectrum of midsize. You kind of went "spec for spec" when I feel like the decisions on the truck you buy sometimes comes down to how you will realistically use it.

Even though Ridgeline is somehow different, I am deciding between Tacoma and Ridgeline, so those videos are almost no use for me :-(. Ranger has only 4 cylinders and no 6ft bed option for Double cab, GMC/Colorado have no service in Europe (I will take that car to Europe) and Gladiator is bad on the road (I don't need to off-road). Frontier would be great, but it is not in this video either - so I guess bad luck for me :-(.

Really doing injustice by leaving the Ridgeline off great fuel economy, dependability, and actually better hp than the Tacoma V6. The Ridgeline can do light off road and has a decent tow rating of 5000 pounds.

Last month I traded in my 2020 ford ranger Fx2 for a 2022 Tacoma SR5 XP predator. I can't say I ever truly hated the ford ranger. There were several things I liked about it and there were just as many things I disliked about it. The little Ecoboost engine was pretty quick especially when merging into traffic in sport mode. But at the same time that was it's downfall. The 10 speed transmission it was mated to would more or less like to disagree with the engine. The way the shift points were programmed on this transmission vs the quick and edgy acceleration of the engine lead to many lunging and erratic shifts and lower speed and especially on deceleration. The cab of the ranger was rather comfortable and my kids had a good amount of room in back. The ranger was easily the bounciest truck I have ever driven in. It was rather comical at times. The Tacoma on the other hand feels very planted. Literally a night and day difference driving these two. Acceleration is just fine on the Tacoma. It is not a slow truck. I think that has become a big misconception with the Tacoma. The braking is more aggressive than the ranger. Which I prefer. The transmission is very smooth and doesn't hunt gears. And believe it or not my kids actually have more space in the back of the Tacoma. I didn't think that would be the case opening the doors and looking in it sitting right next to my ranger. I'm 5' 10". Not short and not tall. But Tacoma front passenger leg room is deeper than the ranger which allows you to move the seats more forward into a good position. The ranger I actually had the driver seat all the way back. Head hieght was a bit better on the ranger. But honestly I like the shorter feel of the Tacoma inside. The seat height is adjustable on the Tacoma and it allows me to get in a very comfortable seating position. In the ranger everything is more upright. The interior of the ranger and Tacoma are equally as cheap feeling as each other. One is my no means any better than the other. But I will say I like the look of the Tacomas design better. Inside and out for that matter. Also the Tacomas interior surfaces are designed to be wiped down and cleaned easier. Everything is large flat surfaces. Oh yeah and one last big win for the Tacoma over the ranger. There is butt loads of under and behind seat storage that is actually accessible in the Tacoma. Ford failed big time on that bench seat in the back. With a car seat in the back as I have the ranger was useless. Truly wish I would have just bought the Tacoma 2 years ago when I bought the ranger. Oh well I got the truck I want now. It is plenty big enough. I have no need for full size trucks anymore even if I have been a very loyal ram truck owner over the last 15 years. I just don't need that much bulk anymore.

Ranger now the #1 mid-size truck in reliability according to consumer reports. Funny to hear all the Taco owners downplay CR now that they are 3rd. Now no reason to deal with the terrible searing position and gutless power train of a Taco.
@AlphaShark
@AlphaShark 2 жыл бұрын
That’s so cool that Ford’s gotten it up to 4 years of reliability on those Rangers! I never thought I’d see the day 😛 I don’t think it’s fair to say something’s more reliable than something else if it’s only been 4 years since the new body style of Ranger has been out. But I will admit it has its advantages. Though lol gutless is the term I’d use to describe the Ranger, I’ve spent many many hours behind the wheel of both Taco’s and Rangers. Yes the seating position in the Ranger is better, but Tacoma has gone a long way to adjust it to be better than it was.
