The Eclipse Cross is definitely worthy of consideration. If value is important to you, Mitsubishi is where it's at. They're well-built, dependable, have a long warranty, and can be had for thousands less than what Honda and Toyota offer. You'll also be driving a vehicle a bit more exclusive than the other competitors. Having owned both a new Nissan and a new Mitsubishi made in the last few years, I wouldn't even touch the Nissan.

I fail to understand why people fight over brand names.
@scott8919
@scott8919 3 жыл бұрын
I don't agree with them either regarding the name, but I see where they're coming from. When they think Eclipse they think of one vehicle or a series of vehicles, and now they have to change their definition of what an Eclipse is, and that's difficult for them. So rather than accept it or embrace it, it turns into pushback and anger. Same for the Mustang Mach-E. The companies who own these names can use them however they wish, but people hate to change their expectations for what an Eclipse or Mustang is. Similar situation with many recent Jeeps like the Renegade, Compass etc. "That's not a Jeep". Well, yeah it is. They don't like change or redefining something that's been around for decades.

Alex, great video as always but actually the Outlander Sport is the smallest crossover that Mitsubishi offers in the USA. It recently got a facelift for MY20 and imo drives so much better than this Eclipse Cross. Although the interior of the Outlander Sport is also dated, the discounts make it compelling since it is a pretty fun car to drive that looks pretty good. Also, those paddle shifters in the Eclipse Cross are the same ones that were found in the DCT Evos :)

I think Mitsubishi is missing a humongous opportunity by not offering its PHEV power trains in all its SUVs in the United States. At the moment this is nothing more than an underwhelming alternative to the rogue sport and it's ilk. However, if Mitsubishi leaned on the fact that they are one of the leaders and plug in hybrid technology they could make a very solid move and regain market share

From Australia: Only the USA calls the model of a car by the next year, so this is actually a 2021 model which we can get here and it is called the 2021 model as well. Here cars and most countries in the world, cars are sold by the date manufacture stamp. So December 2020 on the engine stamp means it is a 2020 and Jan 2021 is a 2021 model.

The Evo was a great car, and I'm sure Mitsu would still be making them if anybody had actually bought them. It may not be as nice as the other new vehicles in its size but its cheaper, has the features I care about, and has a long warranty. They had been advertised at local dealerships for way below MSRP. I almost bought one of these before the car market went nuts and everything got overpriced. We'll see what the market is like in a year or two but I'm thinking that some sort of hybrid will be the best choice at that point. Manufacturers are putting out so many new EVs and hybrids that I think its really going to hurt a newish car's value in a few years if it isn't getting 40ish mpg.

I got one - a Mitsubishi dealer will finance someone which even Hyundai dealers would turn away. You can also get thousands less of an Eclipse Cross, far more than most Hyundai dealers would be willing to budge on a Kona. Mitsubishi is where Hyundai is in the 80s & 90s. The Kona is by far the better car in every metric, but the Eclipse cross wins as a value proposition.

I would get a Seltos in that price range over the Rogue Sport or certainly over the Eclipse Cross. - Alex, what is the chance of you getting with some of your compatriots (say, Roman at FTL, Sofyan at Redline, etc.) and doing a Tweener comparison? Eclipse Cross, Seltos, Crosstrek, MX-30, Seltos, maybe a Encore GX which is a tweener in my mind, maybe one or two more? I am really leaning towards one of these smaller 'compact' CUV's if I decide a hybrid is not in my future and I would love to see side-by-side comparisions like was done with the EV Tesla, Leaf and Niro!

It's amazing to see the same old comments in every Mitsubishi video. Where is the EVO, Pajero, Eclipse Coupe??? But 99% of these people 1. Couldn't afford these cars or 2. Never owned one. Kia Stinger is dead come 2022 but reviews always come in positive for it, another "great car" dead because no one actually buys them. If it doesn't sell, drop it. Ford killed their entire car lineup, Chevy the same thing, you can't even give away a Mazda 6, Nissan Maxima is non existent and the list goes on even with Hondas and Toyotas. Next everyone complains about CVT transmission but almost every single other comparable vehicle has a CVT including the Honda and Toyota but no one complains about it there (Good on Hyundai/Kia to not have a CVT but engines are so hit and miss that it doesn't matter). 10 Year warranty is there for a reason, if you have issues then it can be repaired at no cost to you. What does it say about Honda or Toyota or Nissan only having 5 Years warranty, do they not stand behind their product? Imagine having Peace of Mind for 10 Years for your Point A to B vehicle. Again another positive point for the Koreans to back their cars 10 years in the US but only for the original owner, Mitsubishi is fully transferable from my understanding. Everyone wants an exciting car but consumers buy hundreds of thousands of beige Toyota Camry's and Corolla, literally the most boring cars in the world. By no means is Mitsubishi the top company in the segments but there is definitely lots of positives here and suit people looking for great value, low cost of ownership, one of the best 4WD systems and Long Warranty but people love to complain for nothing. No car is perfect. Just my thoughts.

Now that I’m in the market for a new vehicle people need to realize the value Mitsubishi is presenting. They have several trim levels and different seating materials. If you want cloth they have it. If you want a suede and leather look they have it. If you want leather they have it. I’m going today to look at them. And nothing beats Japanese manufacturing being directly from Japan is another strong seller. If people want brands to stay we have to help invest in them. I’ve had several Japanese vehicles and the “Big 3 Japanese Brands” have all kind of gotten boring with the copy and paste interiors. Before there was a lot style and individuality within the brand. Mitsubishi seems to have the old school feel with and up to date style which to me is great.

I admit I'm not a traditional car enthusiast, but I enjoy CVTs. A properly tuned one is smooth as silk in everyday driving but has a satisfying "downshift" when you punch it to get on a highway on-ramp. Plus it's an absolutely fascinating technology IMO. The work that went into designing the modern steel belt CVT and the engineering behind even the fluid for it is worthy of writing an entire book. @@nightdrive2646 it is the LE and we should have went with the SE for a couple of thousands more because of the better seats. This was not her first choice, but she had to settle with something cheap that she can retire with next year so there is not much that she likes about it other than being a small SUV. The good stuff about the Eclipse Cross is the high ground clearance, the s-awc which makes it a lot of fun in the snow, back seat slides back and forth for extra trunk space, the huge discounts, better fuel economy than epa ratings and decent interior and exterior for the price assuming the discounts. The bad- transmission and turbo are weaker than the Japanese and European versions and it is very limited if you want aftermarket upgrades. The short wheel base requires constant steering adjustment. Infotainment screen is kind of small. Trunk space is smaller than much of the competition. Dealerships service departments are awful, really poor waiting areas. Don't want to be one of the people that will spend $40k-50k on their future models and have to wait for service in those places!
@nightdrive2646

@@dimitarlentov5987 the constant adjusting to the steering could have something to do with AWD. I do not like the way AWD feels and actually prefer 2WD. The SE trim level plus skylights would have made a HUGE difference in how you feel about the car. (LED headlights, quality of seats, and the whole visual look from nicer seats and the skylights). If you do decide to upgrade, check out selling (not trading in, but selling) your current one to carmax and carvana to have actual offers before going into a dealership. I would do multiple test drives on the Kia, VW, and 2022 Mitsu before deciding on the new vehicle. And yes, you really should test drive a 2022 SE trim level with the skylights before writing off Mitsubishi.

@@nightdrive2646 had a eclipse cross as a rental, it was terrible. The only thing I drove that was as bad was a Dodge Journey which is also bad. Issues for me steering very vague and disconnected. How does the company who made the evo do that bad. Suspension a bad mix of floaty and yet bouncy. Seats very uncomfortable, granted that’s subjective. CVT = blah. Things that were good, nothing stood out... now to be fair I drove a 21, maybe 22 has improved. At least they dropped that stupid split rear window. At night other car headlights would disappear/reappear because that split obscured them. Super annoying and kinda unsafe really.... Anyway if eclipse cross works for you or someone else, that’s cool. I just couldn’t believe that was an offering in the same category as CRV, CX-5, RAV4, etc.... Now eclipse cross is probably getting a better out the door price but it would have to be at a 60% discount to class leaders to be viable for me. @@kheldaryt the line, or bar across the back window was actually a throwback to the eclipse coupe. Basically everyone on the planet (or at least social media) missed that reference. Prior to the days of auto-dimming mirrors, that bar kept blinding headlights from blinding the driver, and actually allows the driver to see more and not less. I had an older, and lower trim level eclipse cross for 1 day earlier this year, and the downward visibility out the rear window was quite good. Even though that older segmented rear window functioned better, the newer 2022 design does look much better. The suspension is improved in the 2022, the infotainment center is improved, maps/navigation now included without connecting cellphone. The Rav4 is a nice vehicle, but I don't like its bulky look and higher price. I like several Mazda's, including the Mazda3, CX-5 and CX-30, but chose Mitsu because of its looks and size, the economical yet turbocharged engine, plus all the safety and comfort features for an excellent price, plus a 10-year warranty. I wouldn't mind the CX-30 turbo, but price starts getting a little high at the higher trim level plus turbo. Would also love an Alfa Romeo Stelvio, but that's in a whole different price range.
