This engine is coated in plasma (sprayed) cylinder liner (same as used on the GTR). After it is applied, there's a very fine cylinder bore honing which leaves behind a very strong, durable cylinder liner. It also direct an port injected. Nissan has quietly been developing the VC-Turbo engine for the past 20 years.

Did you say this new 1.5 turbo is direct injected AND port injected? I have NOT heard that in researching this new 2022 model and ANY videos I've been looking at since the new model came out. Where, Trenton, are you getting your info? Or were you wrong? I would love it if it was dual injected, like the Toyota CR-V, keeps the back of the valves clean.

Really like the Rogue. Even on this value-oriented version, Nissan seems to give you just a bit more than the competition(even small things like that sound-level reading, which nearly matches the Escalade that you reviewed yesterday). While I will never like CVTs, I think Nissan's JATCO unit has been refined well over past units. One odd thing is I don't understand why they didn't just drop the Altima's 2.0T in Rogue, and put this engine in the Sentra, which is all that car really needs as it is competitive in the class otherwise. But if I had to choose, I think platform-mate Mitsubishi Outlander looks a bit better and upper-trims are really posh for the class.

It does not even feel like the same vehicle, it is so much nicer. I got the two-toned Sunset Drift Chromaflair, and very honestly? It turns heads. And it REALLY stands out in a parking lot! Yes the CRV does have a 1.5 turbo as well but it's a 4cyl. However, it does NOT have the pumped in "simulated" V6 engine sound coming from the stereo speakers. There engine sounds very "tinny" almost diesel in a way. The Nissan Rogue's 3cyl sounds VERY SMOOTH by comparison. It will really be about long term reliability if this new engine is meant to succeed. However, i wouldn't purchase one in the first model year until they work out any "kinks" or recalls. @moeharri2 жыл бұрын
I personally prefer the passenger side. When parking at a gas pump, there are often metal/concrete barricades which can make it difficult to open the driver's door (depending on how closely you park to the pump). No issues when the gas tank is on the passenger side (unless they're trying to get out too...).
@tomtalker20002 жыл бұрын
People need to realize that they are pumping in a simulated "fake" V6 engine sound through the stereo speakers. If you rev the car and listen on the outside you won't hear it making this sound. And obviously so considering this is only a 3cyl engine. This isn't the first time either that a car manufacturer has added in fake engine sounds. I say this because many folks biggest issue going from a 6cyl to a 4cyl is power and of course the sound you get. Well Nissan covered the bases here by giving you that sound along with the power of the turbo. And the biggest plus is it only takes regular 87 octane gas. However, i will say being an owner of a turbo engine. It wouldn't hurt from time to time to add premium to get the best performance. Lastly i hope in future iterations Nissan takes away the "simulated shifts" and either goes to a straight CVT shifting process or throws in a naturally aspirated automatic which people have wanted from them for years. However, i'm not holding my breath on that nor should anyone else. Because has already committed themselves to there CVT engines. And this just might be there best attempt yet at it only time will tell how reliable that 3cyl turbo truly is. I never recommend folks buying a new model car in it's first year until the "kinks" and recalls have been worked out. Wait at least until the following year or the year after that before purchasing. Leasing would be fine though.
@foxtrot6852 жыл бұрын
That is definitely the sound of an odd number cylinder engine, not a V6. That’s how 3 and 5 cylinder engines sound with that specific growl. KZbin current gen Escape 1.5T, fiesta/focus 1.0T ecoboost, any Volvo T5 with an actual 5-cylinder, and they all sound very similar to this.

Unless you're definitely keeping the car for atleast 10 years then most warranties cover that period for not that much more money per month. Don't think because it's a toyota that you will never have 2 fix something. Trust me as car ages things will go bad like axles suspension parts and alternators and even engines and transmission. I know now than 1 Toyota with less than 200k that needs a new engine and the other 1 needed a radiatorand engine by 100k so don't think it's immune. A warranty is your best bet. If you're worried about engine and transmission there are dealers who offer lifetime powertrain warranties. For just a few dollars a month maybe 7 dollars some insurance companies offer powertrain warranties for super cheap per month.

I doubt Nissan will make a hybrid version. I think they're moving away from the need for hybrids. Their hybrids have always been very poor sellers, so the demand just isn't there. Nice review! I don't like any car with a flat bottom steering wheel. The engine/CVT sounded terrible when you were accelerating. Also, you should drive that car over a street that's bumpier to judge the ride. I'm waiting to see and, maybe, buy the new 2023 Honda HRV when it comes out.

what is the reliability say 5 year for the engin/turbo components...turbo in the past fails early and is expensive to fix. also I don't think gas mileage is much better than the 2.5.

That was a semi truck horn. Must’ve got cut off by someone. I’m just curious? Do u guys explain a car based off what you see and feel all the time and look at some of the more “hidden” components on your phone maybe through Nissans website I’m guessing?

My ex-girlfriend‘s grandparents got the world in November Wendy I’m driving her places The previous week had a Honda CRV 2015 First off her grandparents and parents we are thinking of getting the new pilot since they had pilots before When they change their mind going for Pathfinder SV improper platinum but they weren’t going to be available till February I told her that they should get the SL because the seeds were rather in had better features they ended up getting it in November and she likes riding it when they drive her places then at the end of December her mom traded in a 2017 Volvo XC 90 to 2022 Murano She really likes that they have automatic windshield wipers The only issue that they had was they could not get out of the driv of their driveway when Charlottesville was hit with a big snowstorm in January They probably won’t have many this could be one of the final cars that they own Bye they do drive it to Grand Rapids Michigan where are used to live

Love my 2021 Rogue. Glad I didn’t get the CVT tranny. Traded in a 2017 Rogue This one is great to drive and very quiet.

Lol you DO have CVT if you have a Rogue. Wow

I do not like the design of the cloth interior. It would appear to me that the "so-called stitching" could have a tendency to wear and shred a bit? On a positive note, the turbo appears to be very quiet. Great job guys!

Not so sure about this engine. 3 cylinders, really?
@Trance7862 жыл бұрын
It will last for about 3 years.
@amininshassi63702 жыл бұрын
@@Trance786 Probably a lot more than that givin it's a japanese engine. Besides, The Toyota GR Corolla has a 3-cylinder engine, so that tells me that just because it's a 3-cylinder engine, doesn't mean that it shouldn't last for a long time.

I have a 3 cylinder 1.5 supercharged engine….in my jetski. 17 years old and has never skipped a beat. It was only a matter of time before 3 cylinders made it into vehicles
@cabottaxi2 жыл бұрын
Compact in size ! Not what I would call it in Europe. Only thing small is the 3 cylinder engine. Never been a fan of any 3 cylinder engine as they always seem to make the news for all the wrong reasons.

Why run the ac compressor when you have the heat set on high? That's a reason I don't use the auto temp controls also because it uses my ac compressor for no reason even when the ac light isn't on in my altima. I use the manual control for heat and then you have to press the ac on and off to actually get the ac compressor to turn off. Its a waste of gas and ac compressor life!
@mark86842 жыл бұрын
All new vehicles run the AC compressor even when in heat mode for two reasons: 1) it reduces humidity to prevent window fogging 2) it helps keep the compressor seals lubricated (even during winter) to prevent premature compressor failure. Yes, those engineers really do know what they’re doing!
@occckid1232 жыл бұрын
@@mark8684 well I rarely use my ac compressor. My ac compressor has been on maybe twice in the last 6 months. Using the ac also slows down my car and there isn't any reason it should be on when it's 30 degrees outside unless you need 2 defog the windows but I keep my sunroof open in the tilt position with a front windo open to defrost. F that ac killing my gas mileage at city speeds.
