2022 Nissan Rogue SV 1.5T POV Test Drive & Review

Here we have the new 2022 Nissan Rogue SV! What makes this Rogue so cool is it comes with the all new 3 cylinder turbocharged engine mated to a CVT! This gives the turbocharged inline 3 cylinder engine 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. This Rogue in particular comes in the beautiful caspian blue metallic on charcoal cloth interior.
Standard features on this Rogue SV include bluetooth audio, a backup camera, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. Additional features include dual-zone automatic climate control, LED headlights, and radar cruise control.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra S with over 242,000 miles on it. Never had an issue with the original CVT. I changed the fluid every 60,000 miles as required in the owner’s manual. Nissan is capable to be reliable as Toyota and Honda. You haters should learn how to read a manual and drive a car properly and you won’t have any problems long term.

It was built so flimsy and cheap . My favorite built cars are the Volkswagens and now these Nissans. Cvt does suck. But here's the thing. U save GAS and if u get the proper maintenance. The cars last about 90k miles before issues happen.

just got this car 2 days ago. so far, I love it. I love the amount of cargo space and was initially looking at a murano, but went with this one instead. almost the same amount of space for a few grand less. now idk about turbo and all that other stuff, but I do know the tide in the city is smooth, but it takes absolutely nothing to get her to 60 once you hit the highway. Can’t wait to learn more about the features it hold

Do anyone know whether this model has door ajar waring if any door is open and we try lock the doors ? I had rogue 2020 which honk/hazard lights when I lock from remote key while all doors are closed, which helps to make sure all doors are closed. And it will not honk/hazard lights if any door is open. Recently I bought 2021 rogue which honk/hazard lights always regardless of whether all doors are closed or not.

Just bought one (SV Premium) and taking a delivery in 24 hours! The only thing that I am curious is how well this new 1.5L 3cyl turbo engine will hold in long-term reliability. This could be a make or break move for Nissan. When I test drove it, it felt peppy! the torque is insane for having a 3cyl engine. The cabin is super quiet, refined and spacious. Best of all, gets great gas mileage for the vehicle this size. One thing that i'm so glad it doesn't have, its that stupid AUTO SHUT OFF when you're in full stop and the engine starts back up when you let go of the brake pedal (SUPER annoying feature to me). I'm ecstatic and can't wait! Great review man!

Bee, I have the new 22 with the 1.5 turbo, also. I think it is noisier than it should be when the turbo kicks in (for passing or accelerating). I'm also hearing a strange "whirring" noise from the engine bay. Actually louder upon decelerating, most noticeable around 45-50 mph. I drive all the time in STANDARD, as I want good mileage, don't need my Rogue to be a damn sports car and hold revs. Will be taking this into the dealership about the whirring noise, anyone else have the 22 model with the new engine with any wierd whinning noise from the engine bay (been told may be the CVT chain belt or the Alternator Clutch overrunning making the whirring noise I hear) ?

The brown top trim for the dash and doors comes with the dark interior. If you opt for the "light grey" interior, those brown top areas will be a medium grey. I would say 4 out of 5 Rogues you will find on the lots will have the darkish interior, which I have and I really like the brown tops.

It takes regular gas for sure. However, putting in premium from time to time wouldn't hurt it either. As turbo's really perform at there best with that octane grade.

I hate the size of the middle console. In my mother's second three year leased vehicle (same color, brand and make) I have to sit sideways in the passenger seat. I have no leg room for me to open my legs wide from my physical issues. It is not safe for me drive this vehicle either. I really miss her 2020 Nissan Rogue. I know now what a nightmare it would be if i got a 3rd generation Prius. I'm glad that i will stick with the second generation Prius when i get one some day. Also, i'm not a fan of the brown accent on the dashboard and doors and the missing panel board from the back.

This car on sale at China last year and caused great controversy for 1.5t 3 cylinder enginee, some owner of the vehicle found,the idle rpm was different when the hood open or closed. When the hood open the idle rpm would raised from 900rpm to 1200 rpm,most people suspect Nissan raise the idle rpm to cover the 3 cylinder engine vibration,make it looks smooth when the salesperson introduces the engine compartment.But the offcical feedback from Nissan was, when the hood open it means the can into maintenance mode and it will increase the speed to charge the battery.Anyway, most Chinese consumers don't believe this explanation, and this car was failed in China market because the 3 cylinder engine. For 2022 and 2023,they are not standard on the SV trim, only SL and higher trims. Bummer, as they WERE standard with the SV trim in 2021.

I think sport mode kept the revs pretty high around 3k, hoping normal and eco modes are much lower. Knowing Nissans, they are. Otherwise no way even a 3 cyl is getting 37 MPG at 3k RPM.

This has been the case for a few others such as Kia and Hyndai. I've even seen more people driving around in Mitsubishi's. Hopefully we are on an upswing in great quality vehicles.

That key fob looks exactly, and I mean exactly like the key fob of my old 2012 Nissan Altima. I wouldn't trust a 1.5T 3 cyl(3 cyl??) VC (variable compression) turbo engine paired with their CVT. Nissan CVT's have had many, many issues in the past. And their VC technology is too new to assess overall durability and reliability. I'd pass on this one.

VC has been out for years now in the QX50 and Altima. Enough time to determine any issues. This engine is essentially the same as that one with a cylinder cut off.

@@JTube571 exactly. There hasn't been any issues with the cvt paired to the vc turbo either since in the qx50 in 2018. There are also purple with over 100k miles on the vc turbo altima. The mechanism seems built as intended. For an extra 20 bucks a month you can probably get a decent warranty also that covers much more than just powertrain.

Do not buy a Rogue. Their transmissions are garbage. I have a 2016 Rogue that failed at 73000 miles. Nissan refused to pay for repairs even though I have spent $3000 in maintenance over the past year! A new transmission will cost over 5k! You have been warned!!! Make this right Nissan!

And to answer you question I've spent thousands of dollars maintaining the vehicle. What you should be doing is asking why Nissan doesn't stand behind their products. By the way I'm one of many experiencing the same problem. Google Nissan CVT issues and let me know what you find. You should also be asking why Nissan has decided to settle the lawsuit instead of taking care of their customers in the first place! They are scum!
