For the aero nerds: The most effective and critical surface on a wing is the low-pressure side (the one creating the most lift or downforce). That's why you see most planes with all kinds of stuff under the wings (engines, struts, weapon pylons, etc) but keep the top of the wing as clean as possible. For a car, that means for the same wing surface area and profile you get a few % more downforce with a bit less drag with a swan neck mount vs vertical struts. Anyhow... always loved the GT3 and its NA character and sound.

I got the chance to drive the 991.2 last year on a track. It screams like you can’t imagine, sensations are incredible, truly fast but it’s not really made for speeding imo. It’s made to be one of the best car on track. So much precision, gearbox is insane.

I like your honesty in acknowledging that most sports cars have gotten too fast for their own good, particularly the ones with many cylinders. There's always the Miata etc, but I wonder if there will ever be another Porsche or Ferrari with a low enough performance that they can be driven hard on the road without being risking a lost license.

Ted - I love your take & video on the 992 GT3. I was extremely fortunate enough to have received an allocation for a MY24 GT3 last month. It will be arriving in late October and I'm also lucky enough to have Angeles Crest Hwy as my backyard (I can literally get there in 2-3 minutes from where I live). I appreciate your feedback on the car when it's in the low-rev territory and how this may turn off some potential 992 GT3 buyers because the car may not seem as alive as the previous models. However, there's no mistaken the adrenaline rush when the car is between 6-9K rpms. Anyway, I'm extremely excited about getting mine later this year. Thanks for the video, Ted.

When I was younger I always liked the Turbo S more because they were simply faster/more powerful. I drove a 991.2 GT3 and wow those things are still so fast even with modest HP/TQ. The excitement alone from revving out to 9k rpm every shift is way more worth it than straight line speed.

I’ve drove a cla250 for a while with its turbo 4 cylinder, loved how it made peak torque barely above idle and short shifting around town was a blast, but I recently have been driving the gle350 with the n/a v6, and something about having to rev it out is just more appealing to me. There was no point in revving out the Cla, torque dropped fast and the wasn’t much hp to play with. Love the videos man especially the ones with Porsches, One day I’ll be driving gt3s instead of a entry level Mercedes, one day.

Last year I drove the 991.1 GT3 and this was already insane, how quick you get up to speed and how much speed you could carry into corners. Also I noticed how you couple feel what every single tire was doing. I have a trip to the Nürburgring schedule for next year, to drive a 992. I’m so damn excited to see how much better it is!

That’s one thing I love about my sixth generation Camaro SS, when I take it to a track they tell me to have the windows down and I get no buffeting even when I’m going 120 mph. I hope Porsche can figure something out and fix the buffering on this car!

Swan neck mounted wing is more efficient in. Aero because you get more leverage on the up rights by pulling down than pushing down. Therefore you increase the down force without having to increase wing profile or angle. You’re coefficient of drag remains the same but the wing is able to pull the up rights down harder than it could push it down. Or since you get more leverage by hanging the wing, you can reduce the size of the wing, which reduce drag., while maintaining the same downforce.
