As a pain patient on opiates since 1994, due to a horrific car accident, my pain has been managed very well, until the 2016 CDC guidelines. My doc reduced me to 90 mme. Now i can barely exercise, let alone get ready in the mornings. Before my dose was cut (was on the same dose thru 2016) i was doing so much better. How dare this doctor say you can only do menial work on opioids. I have an MBA and have been a practice manager going on 25 years. Im truly Disgusted that pain patients are treated like this. Shame on this group of anti opioid zealots, trying to say its all in your head!! This is infuriating!

My story is similar to yours! Near fatal car accident & broken & fractured bones(jaw, femur, pelvis, ribs, hip, elbow etc etc)w/deformities & I’m still finding out misdiagnosed problems many years later. When my pain was managed appropriately, I was able to run 2 businesses & raise a family. I’ve been reduced by 50% 2 yrs ago & to hell w/these people saying meds don’t work! My activity level has decreased & my pain significantly increased. We need to flood these biased YT videos with the truth! Call your congressman & ask to speak or meet with a staffer to get litigation going & sponsor a bill in your state! This is an all out war on veterans & pain pts! “ it’s not about our health!” This is about $$$ & implementing new modalities! This reeks of prohibition!!

I am definitely calling my congressman to try and sponsor a bill. It's on my agenda! I just started a new position, so I'll be in training out of state for the next few months, but I have promised myself it's time to get involved! Especially after Danny and Gretchen Elliots' suicide! 💔 I'm sorry to hear about your auto accident, too. My clavicle, right arm, and every rib on my left side was broken, the steak and seafood truck that hit me, left me with 4 herniated disc's and severe nerve and muscle damage in my neck and shoulder. The pain only gets worse with age. It's unethical to treat human beings like this! Shame on these money hungry, only out for themselves, no compassion, dehumanizing anti-opioid zealots. It should be a crime how we're being treated. It makes me feel worthless at times due to the constant stigma from family and medical professionals. And why, I just want to work and live my life to the fullest. I would be on disability without. I have tried literally everything, physical therapy, steroid injections, ibuprofen which i take regularly as well, Aspirin, Tylenol (what a joke), Ten units, massage therapy (which helps, but of course, the sleazy insurance companies won't pay for that). I can't even use my insurance for any of my meds because they won't pay for them after CDC guidelines anyway. It's literally a disgusting world when a man like Kolodny spreads lies and misinformation so he can become ultra wealthy off Suboxone, another opioid 🙄, but all other opioids that have worked for millions of pain patients are bad now? Promoting innacurate research, junk science, and testifying against big pharma companies and collecting massive amounts of money off Suboxone is what Kolodny is ALL about. How can people not be outraraged by this man and his lies and deceptive manipulation! Kolodny should be a major embrrasment to his colleagues and especially the CDC, which makes me think they are just all corrupt. The CDC has even retracted their research, stating they were inaccuately measuring rx opioids in the same category as illicit fentynal, so most of their research about rx opioids being highly addictive to long term pain patients is FALSE! There is evidence to show less than i think its 3% of patient’s get addicted when taking opioids properly, without using alcohol or poly-drug use. How can the CDC director, Head of the DEA and ALL persons affiliated with PROP get up in the morning and look themselves in the mirror, knowing they are killing pain patients, disabling them and continually leaving human beings in excruciating unmanaged pain on a daily basis? It's disgusting. I dont get how being mega rich is more important than a human being getting basic medical care to ease their pain and help them live a normal and productive life. Making the pain tolerable is the difference between most of us being disabled or being able to make a living. How do you get up in the morning and justify killing and disabling people on a daily basis through your actions? How shameful. I'm praying someone steps up at the CDC or somewhere to admit what they've done in their part to pain patients and make it right! Are there any decent human beings left anymore? So disheartening. Sorry about the rant, but I'm suffering through this just like many others. I pray for us all 🩷 Good luck to you!!!

Yes, I’d like to review some of these peer reviewed reports. I’d like a physician in the field that has personal experience with chronic pain. I’m happy they recognize the social-emotional aspect of pain as it does make pain worse, however, determining it is the driving factor in many with chronic pain is unfair. It’s also akin to how this doctor said there isn’t long-term data on opioids for chronic pain relief as the studies end at one-month - all that means is that the research isn’t there. It doesn’t mean that it’s a negative effect. Just like we all know that chronic pain and disorders such as fibromyalgia are being taken more seriously and studied more this last decade. The absence of not understanding chronic pain doesn’t mean it’s all negative thinking or a social-emotional cause. He starts the lecture by stating opioids are good for acute pain but then later on states to avoid giving them at all costs. Of course there is going to be a correlation to prescribing pain medication for an initial acute injury, to later addiction or opioid use. That doesn’t indicate causation. What happens to undertreating patients out of fear? There’s a huge psychological toll on patients for undertreating and not taking pain seriously. Some people don’t want opioids and that’s fine. We also shouldn’t be shoving meds down people. At the same time we need to listen and have a patient center model of care. Some people who have an original injury, like a bone break, will have muscular damage and perhaps tendon damage and nerve damage. Muscular pain can linger for a long time, even with PT. Then there is scar tissue. Then there are muscle spasms. Then if they have a procedure, that is still body trauma, and like he said, the body remembers. It’s not negative thoughts from patients. If there are negative thoughts it’s more about our medical care than our illness. This is from a chronic pain patient who has been discharged from pain psychology for not having issues with my pain. I’ve done CBT, PT, OT, acupuncture, etc. I still have pain. I have chronic illness and injuries. It cracks me up that interstitial cystitis is now an emotional/thought disorder. Yes, let me just exercise my red and irritated urethra and bladder away. There are microscopic changes seen in the bladder tissue of those that have IC. Lol. Yep, in our head…

This entire cabal is a conspired plan to break ppl down, to make many people more wealthy & to take a further control of the medical system in the USA. There’s hardly any doctors anymore that are not tied in thru contracts with a hospital system that controls them. They make it lucrative for the doctors and if doctors don’t join up then they don’t make as much money. That’s one reason many doctors failed to take a stand against the Covid-19 mandates and failed to push back against government entities who suppressed cures vs sedation & intubation that led to so many deaths.

Can I just will away the spasms and the weakness? Oh if only I could meditate more often and better. If only, if only.... It's hard not to wish pain on these docs sometimes, but I try to be a better person than that. 🙄. And as far as fear - you bet! When you struggle through day after day, in agony, trying to convince your kids and family you are ok, when the pain is unbearable... You bet there is fear. You fear that you will never feel better. You FEAR the docs will drop you. You fear a lot! You know, you can also fear having to live in this amount of pain for years to go... And that makes a long life - seem tortuous!

Im limited on opioids now to a point I cant do simple tasks without pain spikes, I take meds for nerve pain which have helped tremendously...but also unmask my disc and vertebrae pain even more, im forced to get unnecessary injections because by pain doc says he's only allowed "so many medication only patients" but wont tell me why I don't qualify. I feel like im being extorted for money from procedures just to get pain meds which literally just keep me from self deleting...i still stay at an 8 pain level. No doctors in my area will take uninsured pain patients so im forced to drive over an hour and a half to see my current pain doc which puts me in even more pain. Now last month CVS is refusing to fill my small pain med prescription... so yeah, we live in constant fear. We've been put in this position. Ive dealt with these problems since the late 90's..back then I could get the proper medications for me to function (not get high...FUNCTION). Now it's impossible. So I feel your pain..hang in there.

I appreciate what you are saying and maybe there are SOME people out there who can be helped with your program. I have been living with chronic pain 24 hours a day for over thirty years. I have been very proactive in my health journey. I have done every kind of therapy. I have been poked prodded, had so many needles stuck into me with hopes to get some relief. My doctor has had me try every possible medication with some very severe side effects. I did go to a very informative and helpful Mindfulness course which did give me some tools to do breathing exercises and meditation. I have been on low dose opioids for quite a few years. I only take them when necessary. When I go into my severe flare ups I have difficulty getting my pain under control. When my pain gets that bad, my blood pressure goes up, my blood sugar goes up. Then I can’t function. Can’t take care of myself. My medication helps calm me down and and I am able to function and go swimming, exercise and go shopping. I know most doctors want to help us, but I don’t think anyone’s who isn’t living in chronic pain can possibly understand what we live through every day. I struggle to get through each and every day, but am fighting to have some sort of life. I still make plans to go on small trips and go out with friends, even though it is extremely stressful for me just anticipating getting ready. When you have been dealing with long term chronic pain, you are so totally exhausted all the time and just the thought of trying one more kind of therapy or new drug is totally overwhelming. We are tired and just need our health care professionals make us as comfortable as possible so we can live some kind of quality of life. I am now 77 and think i deserve to live out the rest of my life as comfortable as possible.

You have no idea how much I relate to your comment. I am back on a dose of opioids now, after having been forcibly cut off in 2018, but my dosage has been so reduced as to be significantly decreasing my quality of life. Before the forced cut off, and subsequent withdrawal, I was walking, gardening, and even occasionally riding a bike. Now I am lucky if I can get the kids ready for school, and do the dishes. Oh - and when they cut me off, after 14 days of cold turkey withdrawal, on my own, after 20+ years of opioids, I was given Suboxone - and 15 minutes later had anaphylactic shock. If they cut me off again, I think I will be suicidal as well. I can't go through that again. And I have never failed a drug test, gone to jail, been hospitalized, etc. I am not an overdose risk. I just want my life back. I want to be a mother to my kids, and a wife to my husband, and a sister, a daughter.... I want a life again. I have had nerve blocks, physical therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, pain management classes, acupuncture, gone to the medicine man...and more

Agreed. I’ve been on the same RX since 2012, my dr just retired & now a disabled female myself, can’t get out of bed & can’t get anyone to simply fill the RX I’ve had for 12 years, it’s never been raised in strength or the amount of pills each month. They look at people like their drug addicts always simply want to do is be able to get out of bed without crying. I’ve tried every kind of drug on the market before they finally settled on what I was taking, my last prescription was filled two months ago the withdrawal is not happening it’s simply pain, debilitating pain and the fact that someone could do a new MRI on me as early as last week and tell me that my back is severely damaged, upper and lower, and that they had to send me to a specialist again leaving another office without any kind of prescription. It is absolutely disgusting that patients are being treated in this manner. The only reason why people are dying for the most part of overdoses. My belief is that it must be because doctors have all the sudden cut people off and or their doctors have retired and they’re only other option is to get these prescription medication’s or hard drugs on the street and they don’t know what’s in it so therefore, they overdosing on that the doctors themselves are causing all the overdoses because they just decided to turn the back on the patients, luckily my doctor was my primary care provider but because he retired, I moved out of state and there’s where my issue lies and if I have to wage lawsuit against everyone that I’ve begin to talk to that will not help even though they see how dire my situation is via the MRIs then that’s what I will do you all should be ashamed of yourself. And just so we’re clear my father and several family members are retired. Law-enforcement, one of them was an agent, saying that opioids act as a type of sugar pill I can attest that that is not the case. Absolutely sickening.

And, yes, I’m sure you had a difficult time keeping a straight face. I was waiting for you to suggest we get a cauldron and mix up a magic potion. Are you aware that it’s the pain medication that takes the edge off and allows us to live a more normal life? For the most part the patients depressed and in bed all the time are the ones that have had their medication yanked away due to these insane policies. These policies are causing more harm than the medication. Why don’t you people focus on getting Fentanyl off the streets and treating the addicts leaving their needles on the sidewalks? That would benefit the nation much more than adding insult to injury on the shoulders of suffering patients.

Less than 2% of people prescribed pain medication have opiate use disorder. Legit pain patients are dying from going to the streets, too. My doctor tapered and then abruptly stopped my medicine and then all but guaranteed I would end up on street fent. Promised me it would happen. Because under-treatment of chronic pain makes people desperate for relief. Dependent patients, not drug-addicts. What will happen to me? I have been a house painter for 23 years and cannot just quit my career because my doctor decided to entwine her personal beliefs into my therapy, not science. Now I am experiencing very real anxiety about my future. I bet I could get meds for THAT, no problem. Which brings me to another point. Some anxiety and pain are okay, in certain territories and I am not trying to escape all pain and anxiety, but do need my pain managed, and that will bring my anxiety under control. I have a dead left leg from my femoral nerve being smashed, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc, disease and spinal stenosis with recurring disc herniation from L-4 to S-1 😢 and so many people have much more pain than I do. We have a right to a quality of life. Under treatment of pain is medical malpractice. So frustrating.

I hope I see every person who watch's this video in the comment's section. This doctor has no place having any seat near the CDC. So the first thing he would do is take your car keys, remove all books in your home AND claim you have no right to take any course at college because of course you won't understand anything that is taught. Where is his evidence - and to really add a good comment here, has this doctor ever talked to 99.8 % of chronic pain patients, as most are very astute, I obviously quite intelligent and 100% ready the help another CPP. . He's one of those who thinks he knows best, and watch out if you think you just might have an opinion. You can bet he has low empathy and compassion as that's beneath him. Show me all your work and I might change my mind, and I'll try to fair.

Now they are trying to say pain in all in their head because of the opioid crisis, there is people suffering like me in pain every day of their life , they tell you that you have fibromyalgia
@johnm5644 Жыл бұрын
Ive had lower back issues since 2002. I was on different opiates throughthe yrs which brought my pain down to a 3/4 from 7 sometimes worse. Crisis hits and taken off pain meds. I was on the verge of trying back surgery. Had to go to the VA's methadone clinic. That dose helped for 4-6hrs. Gained over 200lbs because lack of mobility and then VA says im too heavy for back surgery or inserting nerve stimulators. Ive been on suboxone for yrs and my suboxone NP somehow prescibed me Butran patches. Doesnt help. Shes even hoping i find a Dr who would prescribe me opiates again. Quality of life only gets worse. Daily i want to give up and take my life but my wife and child keep me from that. I too hope some Drs experience true pain someday and see how fun it is. Also why should i be forced to try a back surgery when opiates worked fine.

How to convince someone that their emotions are causing their pain is tough sell. How do you help someone who has PTSD, depression, and/or anxiety? Just medicating for mental health has been done and not helped many pain patients. Are we getting back to saying pain is literally in your head again? When you are unable to get out of bed from pain no one wants to hear that it isn't really there. Wonder what these people would say if they lived with it day in and day out. The best we can do is ibupophren and acetomenophin.

It’s all part of the master plan! After decades of prescribing opiates to relieve pain, and in my opinion because druggies began to crush and snort, or take pills by the handful and wash them down with beer and whiskey, and maybe a benzodiazepine chaser - suddenly opiates no longer have value and the pain is all in your head! Our government/nannies have a multitude of problems to focus on (like a border overflowing with Fentanyl) and where is their misplaced attention? If Covid didn’t take you out and you bear the burden of life altering pain, you are probably wishing Covid hadn’t passed you over at this point. This is betrayal by our government. After contributing to society for so many years, then to be dealt a cruel hand of unrelenting pain lasting into retirement, who could have imagined we would be subjected to this at the finish line. Powers that be: stop bloviating about the inhumane treatment in China and Russia. YOU are just as bad! As for this quacks theory, the only mental factor to my pain is the depression that comes from being insulted and mistreated by this insane treatment. How did you expect us to react?
@Melissa-yr7fm Жыл бұрын
Interesting point. If it’s in our head, then we should be going to a psychiatrist that treats the underlying issue. If they can’t fix the underlying issue then we should still be medicated as that’s humane. We treat animals better than chronic pain patients.

Well they finally got me after doing so well in 25 years on drugs . like JanaJJ said, I also had the very same outcome on taking opioids . Like him my meds was cut back in 2020, and then cut off completely in 2022. I am unable to go anywhere, my house has not been cleaned since 2020. Before when I was on 2 50 mcg patches and 180 mg oxycodone. This is not much of a Doctor. When a patient is doing thing when taking meds, and then not being able to do anything without. Then this Doctor needs to retire!

And that is the opposite of what this “professional” said. It’s the pain medication that allows us to live a more normal existence. He said people on opioids become reclusive and don’t associate with others. If it walks like a duck it quacks! Also, regarding Diclofenac ointment, there is a small amount directed to be applied at a time, not a long length. And FYI I’ve yet to find a TENS unit that covers multiple areas on the body. Maybe someone will invent a bodysuit with electrodes that cover the body for fibromyalgia or rheumatoid patients and more. Maybe he’s not aware there are people that have duped their doctors to get opioids for recreational use or to sell, or maybe he IS that doctor, but that is NOT patients with legitimate suffering.

I agree, in my case, that my chronic disabling pain is absolutely coming from overactivity of my neurologic system. My MRII results are significant and my history of failed back surgeries and associates serve pain is as real as the air we breathe. I'm struggling and wish I could somehow turn this overactivity down. My anxiety and depression and impotency and suffering are not helped long-term by optiods in my case. Spravato (intranasal Esketamine), in my recent state of severe depression with suicidal ideations, was relieved by this drug and it's affect on my emotional state. After 4 dosings of this drug my pain receptors seemed more fulfilled and my constant pain began to clear. It may have saved my life and I'm continuing this therapy in North Palm Beach, Florida. Thank you. I want to help. Peter

Interesting. I have similar description of over activity of neurological severe nerve pain issues. Not one so-called medical professional has even done a simple neurological check on me, not even the neurologists. I tell the doctors what symptoms I’m having for the past four years and nine months that are debilitating, causing me to be in bed 98% of my time and they don’t seem to give a rip. I have always had lab work within normal limits, but I changed primary doctor & first thing he did was ck my blood work. Thyroid TSH was so low I was in danger of a stroke. Liver enzymes sky high. Because TSH so low, it caused over activity of body organs & once the thyroid meds got the TSH level back inside normal limits my liver enzymes came back down to earth. My heart goes out to you. Glad you’re able to get palliative. I need it, too much to tell right now. Still can’t sleep hardly. Had two major seizures prior to the thyroid issue discovery. Bulging discs, re injured badly L-4-5, S-1. Had three back surgeries within ten month period, helped some but still have extreme, severe vibrating in that area that started before the surgeries and alternates to excruciating burning nerve pain that over the past few years has spread to nerve pain everywhere. Wish you the best.

For those doctors that won't prescribe much needed pain medication, dismiss pain patients, think all we need to do is breathe deeply, or that we're drug seekers...... there might be a day that you or the person you love the most will be in our shoes and you won' t be able to get the medicine you need and will then understand and maybe develop some compassionate care towards others. Isn't that why you became a doctor? Should've been.

The funding is coming from the addiction/rehab sector the least known fact regarding addiction is the disease affects 1-3 percent of Americans period. Opiates are no more addictive booze the second big lie Americans are told. Third big lie is the majority of overdose deaths where a toxic screen is actually done shows over 60% of the victims have up to 6 different substances in their bodies at the time of death. As a boomer I’ve know a few addicts in my day they DO NOT take their own lives by far and large they are all about the party and the high.

So what you're going to hear about opioids since he was on the CDC's advisory committee is a load of rubbish. Fact is opioids work for most people in severe pain. It's the only med that's approved for severe pain, so taking people off them is just plain wrong. You left on aspect of the whole issue out of the conversation: the pain patients. The ones that are suffering as a result of your abusive and twisted idea of what pain is and how it needs to be dealt with. Demonizing opioids. Btw, Bupe is more destructive than pain meds and it's still an opioid.

I'm sitting here listing to what I who lives in acute chronic pain and a artist. This Lightness constancy theory is utter bologna. The fact of the matter is while the medical community scrambles to cut off actual pain relief medics. The actual person who is living this nightmare suffers and dies sooner because the stress they live in is too much. Weather it be the heart or other organs give out to the poisons doctors are replacing the opioids with are even more toxic to the kiddies, heart and liver. Calling pain a disease is simply painting pain another color and putting it in a different category now isn't it. I call BS on your BS. The emotional factor is that PAIN causes emotional distress !!! And in turn causes the mind body and soul to change. Just stop it with the creative graphics and lame explanations of pain pathways. Roll them all up and find the deepest darkest part of your cylinder and your checker board and stick it there...... 🙄
