Agreed. It's wonderful to see them active and happy. The only thing is they used to b**** about the Buffalo hunters killing hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of their buffalo that they rely on for food clothing and medicinal purposes. Agreed to that also. But eagle feathers are just as delicate and necessary to preserve the species. Many tribes many warriors many chiefs used eagle feathers I understand it was all due to pride and status. But what one cannot do without the other.

@@the1truth420do you think our brown skin straight jet black hair and hairless faces come from Europeans? Africans maybe? Granted a lot of Mexicans have full on beards And are of whiter complexion, Alot of Mexicans have both European and Native American ancestors, some one more than the other and yet some still have only Native American ancestors. The Spanish did a really good job at erasing our cultures and brainwashing the Mexican population into disowning and disassociating their own identity. The racism for the “Indio” still runs rampant in Spanish speaking countries solely because of this.

They’ve always been here. 🤷‍♀️ It’s weird that there are people who never felt the need to acknowledge them until it became a social justice trend on social media. Not you, obviously, but the people who watch the videos on KZbin/Facebook/Instagram like they’re looking at indigenous people through the glass at a human zoo, and “Ooo-ing” and “Awww-ing”. I grew up going to powwows with my dad, native events at the state museum, the native museum that’s an hour away from my house, a native owned spiritual shop that was 20 mins from my house, etc. I think I said “native” more times than necessary. Lol! There was something that drew my dad to the culture. Flash forward to last year when I found out that I’m 1% native on his paternal grandmother’s side, and confirmed what a coworker of his (who was native, and named Spotted Elk) suspected and asked him many times over whether he was 100% SURE he didn’t have ANY native blood somewhere in his gene pool. 😂 14 years too late for my dad to find out for himself (he passed away in 2008), but since our loved ones watch over us after they pass…he still got to find out WHY he was so drawn to it, and probably said “Son of a… Spotted Elk was right! Well, I’ll be danged!” Lol! 💖

I love the culture of the indigenous people of our country. The children of America need to be taking school trips to events like these and taught why it’s important to learn and respect different cultures, especially those of indigenous people who were systematically slaughtered, enslaved and forced onto reservations for defending land that was theirs to begin with. I remember field trips to powwows when I was kid in school. They were incredible and made me develop an immense respect for native peoples and the sacrifices they’ve made, especially in the service of this nation in the ranks of our military. Cultural diversity is what truly makes America great. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

There are schools that did teach about native culture and their history. Blame the revisionists who dwindled history books and school curricula down to brainwashing content so that they could move forward with their divisionist tactics, which we’re now seeing the fruits of. Why do people think that GenXers, and many Millennials, are constantly clapping back at GenZ? I mean, it’s not GenZ’s fault that they’re the victims of cultural erasure tactics, but they don’t wanna listen when older generations try to clue them in to facts instead of feeding into the fiction they’ve been spoon-fed. Btw, there’s a LOT of whitewashed history in your comment. No offense meant, truly. 💖

This is so soul touching, very beautiful and I remember being very young at a festival. There were 4 Native American men playing their instruments and singing so native to them. I was no older than seven years old… I left my parents and all of the activities to sit with these men and just listen to them and feel their music. My family kept looking for me and that’s where I was every time, it was the only time in my life I’ve ever begged for something… It was one of the instruments they made, and a CD as well so I could listen to it all the time. To this day it still stays with me and I come back to the same music and dance. I am just a girl from NY with Celtic roots but my spirituality lays with these beautiful people and have no idea why. Much love ❤
@WildWoodsGirl65
@WildWoodsGirl65 5 ай бұрын
Bc the drum is central to both cultures. The Celtic bodhrán is almost exactly like a Native hand drum, same materials only tied in back slightly differently. I think all our spirits instantly recognize the sound like it's in the DNA. That heartbeat, of the earth, is in us, connection to earth. What's most sacred is mutual. Conditions your forebears faced that led to NY is a mutual experience. Language was outlawed & spiritual practices. There's long been a cooperation & understanding between the two cultures. That includes sending money for food in both directions, during the famine, & that remembered during covid for Rez relief. I have both in me & I need powwow & ceilidh music feels almost the same, the drum is the same tones. It centers & grounds us. Dance is prayer. Go to powwow every year. We need that. It's rejuvenating.

@@cuzcatlanan-an-ish7696 I was watching it and wondering why The Native Americans never had the wheel or developed the arch , I will say that I think the great tribes of the Northeast and Canada were amazing people, they developed a way of life that was adopted by the early settlers and they helped early Americans fight both the French and the English, it's a shameful part of our history how Native Americans were treated, although my ancestors came from Italy my ex-wife was a quarter Cherokee and we would travel to Oklahoma for family reunions , beautiful people, I am sorry about my comments, by trying to be funny I was in the wrong, sorry
