I was a yoke hater at first but it feel natural now. You'll know when you're there when you're no longer trying to do hand over hand like a traditional wheel but are instead taking advantage of the hooks and lever of the wide flat shape. Still, even though I'm used to it now, they shouldn't have introduced the yoke until they couple it with steer by wire.

I been using yokes for 40 years in many different types. I’m going to put one in the MY when it arrives.
@sorka950322 жыл бұрын
@@bearlemley Yokes are cool, and I've gotten use to mine on the X, but it's still not appropriate for the steering ratio. Yokes really should only be used on race cars with really tight steering ratios. Those ratios can't be used on public roads safely. So the only option that can bring a proper yoke implementation to a street car is one that has a variable steering ratio like the Lexus RZ.
@sorka950322 жыл бұрын
@@bearlemley One more note, and this is not to excuse Tesla's introducing the yoke without variable drive by wire steering ratios, but I'm in a loaner M3 right now and was doing a multi point turn in the Lowes parking lot yesterday with the round steering wheel and actually realized I was annoyed at having to do the hand over hand thing given that the hooked design of the yoke allows me to single finger hook it with a lot less effort.

I drive in Plaid mode all of the time. 5 seat and 7 seat Model X refresh you can put the seats down, you just don't get Plaid. Also you can get seersucker racks to put something on the roof of the Model X. They're not so rugged, but it works fine.

My X Plaid is also red, but with the cream interior. Decades of using the push-pull steering method allowed transitioning to a yoke simple for me, although 'palming' or rotating with a finger or thumb work, too. My wife and I are seniors who understand that nothing's perfect, but I really appreciated hearing my wife declare that this car is the best car we've ever had (she loves the windshield and comfortable seats). I may never use the hitch that came with the car, but yeah, stump removal or pulling a semi out of mud seems plausible.

You don’t get full power until you are over 80mph, at your speeds probably less than 50% power even in Plaid mode. You’re right though, finding a place to use the power for more than 2 seconds is the hardest part but dang is it fun!

I like the Model X (Plaid and non-Plaid), but there are two things about it that kept me from buying it. Although I think the falcon doors are cool, it prevents putting a roof rack on top. And I understand the second row seats don't fold down which limits cargo carrying capacity. I probably could live with the non-folding second row, but the inability to put a roof rack on top is a deal breaker. So I ordered the Model S Plaid as my daily driver and I'm keeping my diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee for recreation and cargo hauling, which is costing me more since I have to pay more on insurance and registration on both, and higher maintenance and fuel costs on the Jeep. The Model X Plaid came so close to being the most perfect vehicle for me if it weren't for the roof rack issue.
@koma-k2 жыл бұрын
2nd row folds down on 5- and 7-seat versions, but on the 6-seat configuration you can't. They can be adjusted forwards a bit, and you have the space between the two 2nd row seats for narrow stuff, but compared to 5- and 7-seat the 6-seat configuration is more limited for hauling large items. Also, the Plaid is only available as a 6-seater.

It’s the perfect vehicle but I would of went model S Plaid if I didn’t have so many kids.
