Bought my wife a 2022 Palisade Calligraphy AWD about a month ago. She is in love with it. Was able to find one for MSRP by shopping out of state. The local dealerships had a minimum of $7K markup on them. I prefer the Telluride's exterior, but the Palisade Calligraphy's interior is one step above what the Telluride SX Prestige offers; truly near-luxury car levels of fit/finish/materials.

However, in the Virginia area, Kia dealers are marking up the Telluride by $15k, while a couple dealers are marking up the Palisade by $5k... but I was able to find one within 30 mins that offered MSRP, so going with the Palisade at the Limited level, with the digital display, HUD, push button electronic seating, and better sound system. With the same engine, same base, I can't believe people are paying the $15k premium on a $40-50k car. I didn't even pay over MSRP for my C8 (in my profile pic). Great video.. thanks!

The interior is stellar, better than the Telluride, IMO . I also like the fact that all of the body panels are body colored, unlike the Telluride . I do wish the Palisade had the Telluride’s folding side mirrors. There is no perfect vehicle, but both the Palisade and Telluride are really good . Finally, the Hyundai/Kia engine recalls do not apply to the Palisade or Telluride’s 3.8L V6 . The engine and 8 spd auto are stellar in both cases. I’m not worried one iota.

This ranking has come at a perfect time. I just helped a friend get her family 7-seating SUV, since her Forester XT has been a decade ago and needs a replacement. She has looked at all the candidates in this fiercely competitive segment. She has chosen the landslide winner which is the Telluride, which already needed to wait 8 months to get 2023 model year. Even though Sorento's selected trim has stock to choose from, the attractive package of Telluride remains the one to beat. Believe this. After all the test drives, she actually disliked Ascent the most. Along with poor quality ratings in CR, she decided to go Korean.

Well, I think you can get a bench seat in the Ford Explorer ST, but not the plusher softer-sprung top-trim level. I've got cash to pay for such a vehicle but all the non-luxury Asian manufacturers assume I have a family of 4, not 5. With 5 people, I wan5t everyone in the first 2 rows so we can use the rest of the space for cargo. And the idea of putting that 5th person in the 3rd row by themselves is not Ok, plus it uses up a bunch of cargo space. Regarding the Hyundai Palisade vs Kia Telluride, the former has FOUR-WAY LUMBAR! Yes! I know most folks probably don't care, but I need it for my back.

Where is the Subaru Ascent? I just bought an Ascent and I test drove every SUV in your video except the Nissan. While the Hyundai and Kia are excellent and deserve to be in the top 5, I bought the Ascent instead. The Ascent drives smaller than either the Hyundai or Kia, similar to the CX9. The Ascent really handles well like a much smaller vehicle, but interior room is on par with any of the cars in your video. And, I could get my Ascent with a bench second row. I don't like captain's chairs, especially having dogs. The Subaru Symmetrical AWD is standard, full time, always on and is one of the best , if not the best, AWD system in the industry. And while I would rather have an 8 or 10 speed transmission over the Subaru's CVT, the 4 cylinder turbo pulls better around town than either the Hyundai or Kia even if it occasionally gets a bit buzzy with the CVT. I really thought I would be buying the Telluride, but the Ascent stands toe to toe with it. That surprised me. So I really am at a loss that the Ascent is nowhere to be found in your video.

I will never understand making second row captain chairs standard on higher models! Just because someone wants a fully loaded trim but also wants a max seat figuration but can’t get it! Make it optional the whole point of these suvs is for families so taking one less seat doesn’t seem smart

Great rundown of mid-size options. Love your channel and reviews! I’m looking to get an SUV in the next year. My top picks are a Dodge Durango R/T or a Telluride. My concern with the Telluride is long-term reliability; their GDI engine may have issues over the long term with carbon build up compared to port fuel injection or a combination of both direct and port; waiting to see when the rumoured Toyota Grand Highlander may be released, this will solve the limited space issue with the current Highlander in the 3rd row.

I’ve seen dealers asking nearly $70k in Alberta for the Telluride Nightsky right now (car cost Canada isn’t going to help in this market). Is the Grand Cherokee L considered a “luxury” brand? I wish some of these brands would square off their designs a bit more (like the Atlas and arguably Telluride) for a more traditional SUV “look”. I love Honda, but the Pilot is so boring to look at. Atlas would be a contender on my list for our next SUV if VW improved their reliability, and improved their plasticky interior. Also, about Durango, there’s more than two engine choices ;-)

Wow, I guess they improved on their customer service offering $10,000.

Thats messed up, totally shonky, but it probably goes on more than we think. Regardless, the dealer should be named and shamed, referred to Hyundai to have their contract torn up and lose their dealer license.

@@-Derp- my neighbor said the manager admitted over the phone that they need to train their staff better, so we are assuming it wasn’t the first time someone had complained. I mean they were willing to pay $10k to cover it up lol

@@MyAlexWest It aint fiction my friend. As unconscionable as it is, it goes on, as does the manufactured reviews thing, happens all the time. Hell I stayed at a high end hotel a few years ago and the concierge guy offered me a $500 hotel voucher to put a positive review on TripAdvisor. Given that review companies are clamping down on fake reviews, owners of businesses dont take kindly to negative reviews. Its putting them on notice, and as exhibited here, some are choosing creative ways of taking these down.

Just got the Mazda CX-9 2022 and I am in love. I want the 5 but just had my first baby so I went with the 9 almost a month ago and I don’t regret it. Thanks to you it was easy to make the decision❤️

I have a ‘22 Mazda CX9 Carbon Edition and my son has a ‘22 Telluride SX. I’m pretty impressed how Kia and Mazda are similar in length and width but the Kia did a great job at packaging this with great room. Looking forward to see what the Mazda CX90 brings to the table.

I’ve had 2 Durangos.. love the way they drive hate the problems they have that Dodge refuses to address!! Now have a Chrysler 300 and it’s got a bad oil leak issue… getting rid of it and never buying from that line again!

Hey, thank you for the reviews. I'd love you to mention the number of Isofix points in the reviews. For instance, ppl who are looking for an Isofix point on the 3rd row, have to filter so popular options like highlander, cx-9, etc...

I am looking to buy a bigger SUV. I spoke with a mechanic and told me stay away from Kia and Hyandai due to engine oil issues at a 70k miles. They burn the oil and start leaking. Moreover, the oil they use is not as superior as the oil Toyota, Honda or Subaru use.

I have BMW X3 2022 and it's just amazing and of course, It's a BMW... My SUV have run flat and is quieter as you can get, and you've heard it on this video, GV70 it has a lot of noise because run flat. I've tried Lexus 350 SUV and it has a lot of noise that reminded me of my Forester 2020 which is not necessary bad, but this is luxury class. Genesis offered more technology as standard but my BMW X3 2022 is a fancy buffet: It has a lot of small things that works great in it, plus the prestige. Not as attractive inside as GV70 or Mercedes-Benz but over all better. I love BMW because of how fast, quiet, and how when driving on a curve streets, you don't feel like you are going to turn over (NOTE: DO NOT SPEED ON CURVE STREETS. I DON'T DO THAT). But when I do drive on the limit, it drives better than non luxury SUV. I like how GV70's future but I do believe they are not there yet. People that are not rich but have enough money to get into a luxury car or SUV, for the most part are going for what they know from experience, from parents or any older experienced drivers.

Love our 2015 Highlander but unfortunately because of the supply chain issues, we'll be postponing our purchase of a replacement. Just not going to pay retail-plus. Sorry. QUESTION: If Palisade and Telluride are cousins, why does Telluride get a significantly higher JD Power score than Palisade. And, Andrea, please keep telling us about the "Maaaaazda." Love it!

We are in the US and just bought the CX-9 carbon edition priced at $45K and some change but we got a $1K discount off of sticker so we paid just over $44K Smoothest ride and getup and go I've experienced in a long time. Refuse to buy a KIA as they are marked up $10K OVER invoice. Refuse to buy a Hyundai as the are marked up $5K OVER invoice. The top of the line Hyundai Santa Fe felt cheap and it was priced at almost $48K. Neither of them drive as nice as the Mazda CX-9 IMO Mazda doesn't sell their vehicles over invoice, in fact they gave us a $1K discount off of the sticker price.

Andrea, not everyone wants the Highlander's larger touchscreen. Excessive piano black and touch-capacitive controls = fail. I'd rather have a normal screen with user-friendly, reliable hard buttons and switches, which forces me to go to a lower trim package. An eight-inch screen used to be considered enormous, and it's still plenty large enough. You don't need a finicky, attention-diverting home theater screen in your car's dash. You just don't. Every time you prioritize these ginormous screens that lack real buttons and switches (cough...Tucson...cough) as your reason for choosing one model over another, or one trim package over another, I can't help but cringe. That crap simply doesn't matter. It's not a positive. It's an industry-wide negative.
