I was set on buying a Civic Hatchback with the manual transmission but I've changed my mind due to a few things I don't like about Hondas. Going with the Corolla SE with the 6-spd manual. The price is pretty reasonable in this market, and it's one of the last sedans with a stick available. I would consider the Corolla Hatchback, but the rear legroom was a deal breaker. This car checks the most boxes for me. Now hopefully I can get one in under a year.
@HawkeyeRides2 жыл бұрын
The manual Corolla is nice, I had more fun in that than the new GR86. You are right about the price too, value, fun everyday vehicle, Toyota does a great job, here’s a link to the manual Corolla se: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4fblquMaJKCgck
@mplslawnguy33892 жыл бұрын
@@HawkeyeRides The GR86 looks like a lot of fun too. I was seriously considering it but I came to my senses. I need a useable backseat. I haven't been able to find anything indicating the Corolla in the manual has start/stop technology so I'm pretty sure it doesn't. It's one of the reasons the Honda turns me off. That and I've seen that Honda's sometimes require valve adjustments after a while. But I hate hate hate start/stop technology. Automakers need to listen to the consumer and stop putting that stuff on vehicles in order to save 0.2 gallons of fuel. Thanks for the link I'll check it out!
@mplslawnguy33892 жыл бұрын
@John Doe I've given up on it. You can't even order one? Anyways, I won't even consider ordering one anyways without test driving one so it's a moot point. Nobody has one on the lot, I've checked every Honda dealership in a 50 mile radius. I've decided to stick with my truck, which I love anyways. Wasn't planning on trading it in or anything, but I don't mind daily driving it, it's a beast and fun to drive. A Toyota with a manual tranny is similarly impossible to find for a test drive.
@HealthyGuitarPlayer2 жыл бұрын
What price did you get it for?
@mplslawnguy33892 жыл бұрын
@@HealthyGuitarPlayer I never got one, still driving my old truck lol. Dealerships are insane right now. I will wait and probably try and pick one up on the used market in a few years. The dealer has the upper hand now, and they know it. They certainly act like it too. Not great to be a consumer right now.

I just part exchanged a 5 year old Civic tourer 1.8 for the 2022 Corolla 2.0 tourer hybrid. Over the the 5 years i got 30 to the gallon out of the Civic. For a supposedly modern engine that's terrible! Plus it was slow and so boring! But! I've just put the first 40 miles on the Corolla. It's bloody gorgeous! In comparison it's light, nimble and quick! I'm so impressed with it! Over that 40 miles i got 56 to the gallon! It handles beautifully! The steering is a little light. But ask me in a year or so. It could be because the Civic handled like a boat. You can feel exactly what the front wheels are doing too. Lot's of feedback. It's very comfortable. After 40 miles on twisty 2 lane British A roads it felt like I'd just popped to the shops and back. This car will be perfect for long, long journeys. But the main thing is it's fun! The eCVT (doesn't use a belt or cones) transaxle is a work of art! Imperceptible changes on the powertrain. From ICE to Elec or both together. The cat sorts all that out itself very, very slickly. I'm sat here watching KZbin to learn about the TSS array of aids & sensors. It's quicker than ploughing through the manual. Go take a test drive on one, you'll love it? And it'll surprise you when you pop it into Sport Mode and floor it! With both electric motors and an ICE working together it scoots like a scolded cat! Woohoo! 😃🚀 I hadn't expected it to be a twisty 2 lane blacktop devourer! But the squirt down the straights and stunning brakes (that also recharge the battery) to slow it before you chuck it into the corner. It's light, nimble surefootedness is a delight! Anyway, i got to go play. One thing. I drive with hand controls only (no legs) do if you're disabled then the auto main beam dip, auto wipers, radar cruise control ect. ect. really help letting you enjoy the driving without having to fumble for switches. And if your steering with your left hand and have the brakes/throttle in your right hand then you can see why the automatic features help do much. Give one a go. You'll love it!

@HawkeyeRides3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, 0-60 Mid 7 second, 1/4 mile around 16 seconds. The Toyota has the lunch gear, Honda reprogrammed the cvt to provide early down shifts when braking and it simulates physical gear changes under hard acceleration. The VW has a Dsg which is the more engaging of the three. Suspension is more sporty on the VW but it is more firm, the Toyota has the firmness but more smooth, with a sporty feel.
