2022 Toyota Prius Cowling Removal

Some things to watch out for when removing the cowling on a Toyota Prius. Not a particularly difficult one to remove but you really need to watch the rib to make sure it doesn’t tear.

Have you ever done a Toyota C-HR? I always have trouble setting the cowling in place, after i have replaced the windshield. It will not always fit 100% sorry for bad English.

@@Martellinos What are you having problems with? Does the cowling pop out of the retainer? Bad angles? Trouble fitting it under the pinch weld?

Its nearly impossible to get the cowling in the retainer, all the way.. 😢

Next time i will try to remove the skirting from the windshield, and clipp it on the retainer, and glue it back on the windshield..

@@Martellinos Best way I’ve found is use the finer line to cut the retainer loose during the removal process. See this video… kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6LGdWtvpb2ka8ksi=5GI5nsTwQJk7OKce Then clean off the old double sided tape and put new tape on it.

@ If that’s the problem you’re having, use a dauber and some WD-40. Clean the retainer rib on the cowling, then put the WD-40 on the dauber and run the dauber over both sides of the rib. If it’s still too tight, like some of the old VW’s run the dauber on the retainer slot too. That will let it slip in easier.
