Dig the facts about the tires. Not everyone knows that Toyota puts cheap tires on that look like regular factory brand tires. While my Dunlops are great, obviously the Falkens are knock offs. Awesome you mentioned the CC sand pit function as well. Great all around off road system testing. Demonstrated how capable it is. Even tho the last section seemed to make all of the systems look useless, fact is, the tires let it down. I have run into the very same things on my 4R TRD OR. It can do just about everything pretty good on the Dunlops, but like all tires, they have their weak points. As for those that say you put the right tires on even a fwd car and it can go up that stuff, wrong. Tires are a huge factor, but if your drive system is not up to the challenge, you will find that even the perfect tires will let you down. And or break something in the attempt.

I am surprised on this new tundra that the differential lock is still a pain in the butt to engage. When I read the owner's manual on my 2019 Tacoma it states not to engage differential lock until one is truly stuck but that's not very helpful when all it does is blink and if you truck is truly stuck and can't rock the truck at all then what lol.
@Offshore1977
@Offshore1977 Жыл бұрын
I find it easy to lock if you engage then turn the wheel and move. Allows the pin to slide and lock. Works every time for me on my Tacomas 4Runners and Rubicons.
@rmoore07
@rmoore07 Жыл бұрын
Regarding the rear locker in Toyotas... after pressing the rear lock button, you have to give it a little throttle. It's not sitting there "thinking." It's waiting for you to give it some gas. It needs some throttle (and slip between the rear wheels) for everything to lineup and engage in the differential.
@Offshore1977
@Offshore1977 Жыл бұрын
I found it easier to engage then turn the wheel and go slightly. Needs each side of the axle to move at different speeds to so pin can slide into place. Locks in really quick this way.

Rear axle downgrade, axle separation recall, twice the price of the old gen, same mpg, more problems that can go wrong with electronics.. The list goes on. I'd like to get a real review where someone says "I appreciate the leap in technology that Toyota is trying to go for... The toys and gimmicks added to this platform are nice, but for the difference in $, you could add and upgrade the older gen; 21' and under, the same creature comforts on a more tried and true platform that can be constantly repaired and upgraded because of the body on frame design." Still haven't heard anyone say this. Nice video anyway.

I think it dumb cheaping out on a tire on the Tundra TRD Pro....there are hundred stupid things you can save money on but not tires...I understand a mud tire would be too much, but proper all terrain, like the real Falkens, or KO2's (which by the way may not be as good in the mud as he thinks) should be expected...if anything, most people don't know Toyota is using some dumbed down version of their tires (also on Rav4 TRD), so if they don't have good experience, they won't consider it in the future...so looks like everyone is losing.
