Let me start by saying that I've bled blue all my life and I for one do love the throwback SRX graphics as it reminds me of a time when Yamaha cared... Because in all honesty there is absolutely nothing new here for full sized riders... 77 graphics, 2011 power steering and a 2012 chassis. (For context: I still own an 11 Apex XTX and 2001 Srx 700 and would never part ways with either) An all yamaha 2 stroke (849cc +) wrapped in an all new frame is the only way back to the top and we all know Yamaha has the technology... Why are Polaris and BRP selling so many sleds? Because the commentary given to them is applied to the product almost immediately and they update their chassis and engine every +/- 4 years. Yamaha simply doesn't care anymore has let profit overtake passion ... What a shame ...
@Just.1243 жыл бұрын

You're still out to lunch with the prices Yamaha. You're not the only reliable 4 strokes in the market any more by a long shot. They still don't get it. We want a two stroke triple, a yamaha engine
@shperax3 жыл бұрын
They aren't necessary anymore. They do sound amazing, but that can't be the only reason to bring them back, and it IS the only reason. There isn't anything a 160~HP class sled can't do. You're just adding weight that's not practical and no mountain guy wants. And for straight line racing you're not going to beat the 4 stroke setup they have. Even Ski-doo went 4 stroke Turbo with their straight line race machine for 2022. With the technology of 4-stroke engines making them lighter than ever before there is almost no point in a 2 stroke anymore. I mean just compare the weight of a 2021 SRX LE to a 2021 Indy XCR 850. They are both 475lbs on the nose. With EPA rules on emissions only getting more strict the snowmobile industry is priming itself to remove the 2 stroke all together. If you think otherwise you're lying to yourself and denying the evidence. Example. Motorcycle and ATV industry nearly all 4 stroke. Boat motor industry 100% 4 stroke now. I remember people saying that 4 stroke boat motors would never be a thing and look where we are now. Just keep your classic 2 stroke triples in good running order and enjoy them. They won't ever make a 2 stroke triple again, but they can't take the ones we have away from us.

Would be nice but I think now weight is the issue and fit a triple into a tight/narrow front chassis be tough. Yamaha can build a very reliable and powerful 800-850cc twin and possibly turbo quite easily. I just went riding my 2004 Mountain SX Viper 700 ( with a lot of motor mods-Peak Heads, CPR triple pipes, Lowell Horning porting and other work) with my 2 boys this past weekend for their first time riding sleds and they were riding a 2002 MM600 and a 2008 MTX Phaser (borrowed from my friend who is the local Yamaha dealer). Have not rode my sled 10 years as being a hockey dad/coach there has been no time but CV19 changed that. I sure missed the sound of that triple motor with triple CPR pipes. LOVE IT !! It was like I was a younger man again. The sled rocks. I sure like the colour scheme looks of the new MM800, but would prefer an all YAMAHA version with twin rails - no AC components. I am not all mountain riding so I do not like the Mono-rail suspension but would want the 146-155" track length with 2-2.5" lugs. I am a Yamaha powersports product guy(bought my first Yamaha sled in 1993 and another in 1994) but seriously looking at Skidoo Summit/Polaris/AC 600s for my boys for next year. I will wait another year for Yamaha to see for me. I seriously considered the Sidewinder (around a 153" with 2-2.5" track would be ideal) and still may go that option, but if not it would be Skidoo 800/850 for me.

when is yamaha going to wake up? i was and i say that strongly because i gave up on yamaha. used to own them back when you made a decent sled (talking late 70's and through out the 80's) you can't compete with ski-doo and polaris. you spend a lot on your motor cross bikes but not snowmobile racing. i'm from michigan and yamaha used to rule one of the biggest races there is and now there no ware to be found. i follow snowmoblie racing in all racing -cross country, oval etc and you don't see any yamaha's so this new lineup is junk go back to the 2 strokes don't need all this 4 stroke junk, keep this up and you won't have to worry about any cause know one wil be buying yamaha's

A little underwhelming. To Yamaha’s credit they are prob more conservative where the hype machine is concerned though & that’s a good thing. Doo & Pol spend big bucks in that dept to scale small news into big news. ‘22....like the L LE suspension. Sweet. Like the ski & front geometry changes from last season. I wish the gauge had been changed for ‘22. And, my big question....the power steering offering is strange. Why is it an option in the T Cat & not an offering in the SRX or L LE and only in the 2nd level models?

Way too much red on the SRX to be taken seriously. Look back to a 1977 SRX and imagine it with a red belly pan, windshield and tunnel. The 1979 and newer SRX's are when they started to look sinister and turn heads. At 1:32 it looks like a little boy with a hunched back riding his daddy's SRX- not much credibility. If I'm being totally honest Jaret, you lack enthusiasm and passion about what you are doing. It appears as if you're reading from a teleprompter. Ski Doo has brought in Lynx and it seems as if Polaris doesn't know whether to keep or sell Arctic Cat.
