2022 Yamaha XSR700 First Ride Review • First Dates

Apologies for the sound quality in this one folks - I was about to leave the house that morning and managed to damage my helmet-mic lead... I had to fit a new mic into the helmet at very short notice and connect to the camera in a different way to my normal setup. Wind noise is high (despite my efforts to reduce it) and it sounds a bit shouty in places, like a TMF video 😆

I didn't know what I was going to ride until I arrived at the showroom that morning so the video is a bit short on details until the walkaround! I had seen an MCN review and the price stated there was £6249 which I though was very good VFM. However the pricing in that review is out of date and on the Yamaha website it is £8000 OTR. Not so good value for money but still cheaper that the Triumph Street Twin and Ducati Scrambler Icon. The Kawasaki Z650RS, Triumph Trident 660 and Honda CB650R are cheaper though so do your homework when it comes to deciding what combination of styling, practicality and features you want in your next middleweight roadster! Hopefully I'll get to test ride some of the competition during the rest of the year 😊

New color schemes are very nice. Somehow this was also previously a very nice bike. :) I am glad you rode it. Agree with your thoughts. The "clock" is there. Joke. Keep up man and drop by for the beast. Waiting for you... :)

This is one of the bikes I fancy for my nine months a year in Thailand. I already have a KTM 390 Duke and Yamaha Aerox 155. I could house all three. I certainly wouldn't put a fairing on it.

I got 2019 Tribute XSR700 only downside in my opinion is horrible headlight and horrible suspension plus the fact the trip/info switch on the left controls is just blanked off and can clearly see something is missing but looks like all 3 things have been addressed in the 2022 model, might have to cop this next month 👊 all round sick machine ngl.

I've started to hear things about the quality of the suspension on the 700 range of bikes... I can't say I had any big problems with this bike but as you can see I didn't ride it for very long. Is the headlight bad at night?

Hi Rikky Love your enthusiasm your laugh which is a mix of pure glee and a nervous laugh never fails to make smile. l am glad you have had a chance to review this. l think it looks good. If you havve a channce please try thhe big brother the XSR 900. l think it is one of the most handsome bikes out there other than the Z900RS. Thee new one hmmn hate a few chhanges but the 2016 XSR 900 is amazing including the clock and the round taillight which arre all MIA on the new one. What a shame.

Thanks bobo jo! I sometimes think that folks might get fed up with my high pitched giggles lol (well maybe some do but it's just me, what can I do!). You've given me an idea actually... Completely Motorbikes now sell both Yamaha and Kawasaki from the same site... I might see if I can do a comparison between similar models such as the 900RS vs the XSR900. What this space 😊

Don't ever use a cramp buster on the throttle. I almost threw myself off of my MT07 accidentally.

Any idea how is the fuel consumption like? How many km can it go on a full tank?

I used to own one, mine was 4.6L / 100 KM, no matter how hard I was pushing the bike.

Lowest I ever got out of a full tank was around 235km

Daily commuting on my previous bike (tracer 700) I could get 305km out of 1 tank (17L) ! I think that's pretty incredible 😀

I don't know anything about the LAMS rules because we don't use them in the UK, but a quick look online says that at 689cc this is not the LAMS compliant version
