Mister, it is not that making parts in Europe become to expensive, have it made in China mean more profit, because they still ask "made in EU" prices. That's the whole thing. Like the USA is going down by their own greed, so does Europe who became a copy of the US. Money, money, money, more, more, more, that's all that count. That never goes well at the long term. In the old days the customer was a king, now the customer is a pay slave.

Both of the TM's I've known of were sold within 6 months of ownership. Both were 23 300's and both were FI'd. Seized, caught on fire and power valve reset problems. No help from the factory what's so ever. I had one on order and canceled ASAP. I think they'd be a great bike if you lived next door to the factory. Sealed main bearings on the crank were the cause of the seizure.@@jeff40

The biggest problem with today's engines is the high emissions requirements, which means they get too little fuel, which makes them much hotter because fuel also cools the engine.

There is a channel on here called “Pinit Racing Development”. He has found that the 250/300 two stroke pistons at high revs can actually touch the crank and shatter the piston. His fíx is shaving the bottom back-side of the piston down about 2mm and/or using a Wossner piston which is forged instead of cast.

hate what ktm is doing right now. If im paying that much for a nice machine I want a nice machine! obviously good quality Indian and Chinese, especially Taiwanese products can be made if quality control is there but I think that this is a mix of poor quality control and bad engineering. I heard that the tolerances are just too tight and things can hit one another if really stressed and when you look at the wear patterns on that cylinder and piston something is obviously not round, and its our by lot for it to still be untouched at 16 hours of riding. we need ktm to keep good quality control and to make their products much more in austria and other developed nations.

KTM owner since 2011. On my 4th one, a 24 300SX. If KTM keeps outsourcing what's the point in owning one? Seems their decent into mediocrity is accelerating. When I discovered KYMCO (Taiwanese) on my cylinder... well serious disappointment ensued! "Made in China" is also problematic for me because they are a Communist country whose government, military and probably half their population are very hostile to Western style democratic countries and would like nothing more then to see the United States removed from the face of the planet! When "given a choice" I will not buy from these types of countries so it's not just about the quality of parts and manufacturing. "Made in China" is a "Red Flag"... pun intended! I still believe that for the most part their products are still inferior and garbage! Before anyone says well you're probably typing all this on your Chinese made iMac! You would be correct but then I didn't have a choice did I? All of this is about the usual paradigm! Money, greed and corruption. If I buy another new machine and KTM doesn't reverse course I will most likely be switching brands. The Japanese have also adopted the "Global" model in search of low wages and maximized profits screwing their own country and countrymen as well! Beta maybe? That bike is also on its way to Globalized parts but I believe the engine and trans are still mostly Italian? Rant over!

I am having major issue with my 2023 300xc. I did do a top end and zero sign of any piston/crank contact. My issue is a random bog. Here’s my experience so far… Bike is a 2023 300xc, VBKXCP233PM322***, bought last November(2023), didnt start riding until march of 2024. All stock. At 25hr the bike started to bog randomly(approximately may 3). Bog just happens, usually very subtle, usually after at least 1/2 hour of riding. I ride on a small Mx track with several jumps, 70’ being the biggest. I ride moderately on track but aggressively on straight aways. Bike never dies, just wont accept throttle, usually only for a few seconds but has happened a couple of times where I could stop and try to rev it but it won’t accept throttle, just hear throttle body open. Then it’s fine for a bit. It doesn’t act like it’s fouling out and has never fouled a plug. Does not seem like a short, seems like a fuel delivery issue. I do not ride in mud or pressure wash, and when I do wash it it’s with a shower setting on hose with a rag and bucket of soap. Issue started at 25 hr, now has 44hr, in that time i have done these things, the list is not exactly in the order i did them… -Replaced inline fuel filter multiple times -Replaced fuel pump pick up filter($60) -Tested old fuel pump(48psi) and replaced with new fuel pump, with part number ending in 200(supposedly updated)($275) -stripped down and checked wire harness, also with bike running trying to move wires to find short. -ended up cutting open wire harness and checking for shorts on main trunk. Looked beautiful in there. -pulled all connections looking for issues -changed spark plug 3 times, plugs always looked good, never fouled one, currently tried a 7 range plug.($25) -had dealer update software and look for codes, there were none($130) -did top end(used vortex oem piston)and pulled and cleaned power valve at 37 hr per ktm customer service advice($350) -Set power valve to 48mm(z dimension) -Adjusted tps to .400 volts, reset tps with wake up connector and 3 throttle twists -recalibrated power valve on both maps multiple time -changed crank case sensor twice, even used sealant on last one to be sure wasn’t leaking($120) -current compression is 208 psi, was 196 before top end at 37hr -current deck height is between 0.00 and .008, squish is like 2.12 -tried different fuels, one was an ethanol free 93 octane -unplugged battery(no ideal why) -Bike wrecked me, took to dealer(6/27/24) and this time it had 2 stored codes- P012211 throttle grip position sensor A short to ground p140312 exhaust valve short to battery… Some are saying codes could be from unhooking stuff during top end. Which would make sense since it been doing this for 20 hours and at 15hr there were no codes. I’ve spent over $1000 in parts and dealer service and many hours trying to find this issue. Curremtly I’m down with 2 broken ribs and a lacerated spleen because the bike bogged on a small jump 4 days ago(6/23/24) after another failed attempt to correct it. Ktm and the ktm dealer said this will have to be replicated when it’s hooked up or they cant find the issue. That is not something that a dealer is set up to do. I cant sell this bike because it’s dangerous and has no solution in sight. Dealer is hesitant on me proceeding with them repairing because digging into will be expensive, and a good chance problem will not be cured. I have attempted many repairs and Guinea pigged this bike until it ultimately injured me. I had another dealer tell me that after all the diagnostics I’ve done there really isn’t much they can do. I do understand my current dealers hesitation as a failed repair puts me in danger. I need help with this situation.

Firs of all there is a known and unfortunately a common problem with the 2023 bikes to have a bog issue. most people find it to have problem with a TPS connector I definitely recommend you to check or replace the injector even if its looks good a number of them have a faulty system what can be fixed if you send it to Taco Moto here is some fix from other peoples having the same issues : "thought I'd fixed it with faulty tps replacement, it turns out it wasn't bad, but the pig tail connector pulled one of the tps pins out so it mist have been a bit corroded." "Hi mate, yeah i manage to solve this pretty quickly actually. So i checked the voltage on the throttle position sensor and it was all good! But when i unplugged the throttle position sensor there was actually a bit of water sitting right in that plug. I dried it out and sprayed in some electrical connection spray and the problem has been solved since! Also cleaned the injector and new inline and in tank sock filter as well. I think it's a faulty fuel pump now, 48 hours only. I ordered a new one, the wiring harness is know go go bad also, so for another $300 spent on a new one for peace of mind. Also bought rhe taco moto inline fuel pressure tester. Oh, and I replaced the start stop button with the nihilo dual setup since they are know go go bad also. And a new spark plug and trimmed a rethreaded fhe spark plug cap. Very frustrating, since still swinging in the dark. Nearly bought a left over 2024 for parts swapping then came to my senses I don't need two temperamental bikes lol. Up until 48 hours, I loved this bike and it sounds like my problems are not isolated. I'm going through the same on my 2023 husqvarna tc250 I've taken it 8 times counting today when I dropped it off and dealer can't find anything. Every time I go ride it I get so scared not knowing when it's going to fail. It's no longer fun waking up in the weekend I wake up nauseous knowing I have to ride that bike Good luck,.

KTM is only moving the Duke 390 to India. All of their dirt bike assembly is staying in Austria. Also, you don't quite have the correct story on what's causing the issue you show with the cylinder/piston but I'm not going to go into it because it is a debatable point. And last, even if you don't have a warranty you could go to your KTM dealer and KTM and discuss the issue and they would probably help a normal owner. However, there are documented youtube videos showing you have messed with the bike and it's not technically stock any longer. I hope all is going to work out for you. Cheers.

I don’t really have a story on what happened with mine other than I don’t use my KTM in a normal circumstances but I think it still should handle the high rev speed runs and I just show you the condition what the bike has after a low hrs. Far as mods what I did is actually adding more fuel=lubrication to it and know I do ad more aftermarket parts to make it better and more reliable. Cheers

This is such a disappointment that KTM has done this with manufacturing. But this has come with EU green policies, labor issues and this push toward globalization. Manufactures are making all sorts of compromises to engine performance and life to meet stupid environmental standards that should not apply to such a small segment of motorized vehicles. In the end I think everyone loses. Except chinese brands like CF Moto and Kove who will take over the market in the near future. Why pay KTM price for a China bike? Why not get a Kove that is proudly chinese and has all the innovation they can throw at it vs KTM staying in their safe lane they created for themselves. Kove built the 450 Rally that KTM should have built back in 2008 replacing the 640 A. Instead they put out bikes no one asked for or cared about, but people bought anyway. Watch Kove put out a 100hp 450lb twin with dirtbike suspension and just take over everything. I have ridden KTM since 2003. My old 300s were bullet proof. My 640 is bulletproof.
