Hi Karen and Kit, good to hear from you. The fishing was great and we ate well. I'll do a wee channel update and garden glimpse once the perennials start to grow. We have had a cold winter followed by a dry spring, with intermittent frosts and lots of wind. There are a good number of shoots poking through the soil, giving a hint of things to come. The bulbs (fritillaries, daffs, grape hyacinths and tulips) are bonnie but have been bashed about a fair bit by the wind. ATB, Dave

All footage you load is always worth a view Dave and Mo. BTW the Celandine plant at 2.09, very good for whitening the enamels and useful in Spring if you forget the toothbrush!

Hi, glad you enjoyed the vid. I like trying a cast or two at this time of the year, before the mackerel shoals arrive. I'm not keen on mackerel and they can be hard to avoid in the summer months. Pollock (and coalies) are pretty aggressive fish and, if they are there, can be relatively easy to catch. They like deep water and kelp so the skill is mostly in finding a good mark. Hi Graham, glad you enjoyed the vid. The fishing was good. Hope to get out again soon. We have some plans for an interesting trip at the end of this month. We’ll take the cameras along and should have a decent vid out by early August. I’ve been editing some of our China footage over the past few days. Hi, good to hear from you. We’ve camped on Lismore a few times but never quite as close to the water. We usually try to find a more sheltered spot because of the wind. The fishing was good. Most of the west coast has easy access to deep water, with kelp beds, so can be quite productive for pollack. ATB, Dave

They were a few good sized fish Dave . I’m not a great filleter so I do my usual hack job and get what I can from what I catch , usually take one home for the cat 🐈

Hi John, I'm not much good at filleting either but I can usually manage to carve off some decent fish bites. I have a terrible habit of slicing off one good fillet and then completely messing up the other side. I'm going to invest in a new knife to see if that helps. I like to cook the fish as fresh as possible but find they are easier to handle (fillet) if the are scaled and left to "dry" for a few minutes. I guess some tuition would do me good. ATB, Dave

Hi Dave, great video! Have you any recommendations/locations for fishing on Lismore? I’ve fished the old pier Achnacroish many times with varying success, and between the Point and port Ramsay from the rocks and cliffs too, just for the scenery though! Slàinte

Hi Big Dave, I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I'm never too sure about filming fishing vids but it seemed such a lovely location that I felt compelled to share it. Mo is a dab hand at cooking up these white fish. They have a very mild flavour when cooked fresh on the shore. Mo has various batter recipes and can mix up the flavours by adding eggs, beer and even steak spice. ATB, Dave
