Great video, especially for this CVT version. If I upgraded from a Civic Sport Hatchback or Sport Touring Hatchback for my next vehicle of choice, this would definitely be it in Apex Blue Pearl with a spare tire/jack, etc. I acknowledge the non adaptive suspension of the Si along with the manual transmission and LSD for the Si and This Integra A-Spec Tech package, is the ultimate performance offering for these two vehicles, but like you mentioned, some of us prefer an automatic. I wasn't raised an automotive enthusiast, a full out hardcore auto sports one, and I am older, and don't drive that fast anymore, so this would be perfect for what I want. This has the basic great design of the new Civic, with the power of the Si, actually underated engine output, with the hatchback cargo utility, and an even better upgrade from the Bose stereo system, with the ELS one, which is a must have, being a diehard music lover, electronic/sound tech of sorts, and musician/keyboard enthusiast. And with this, I would be getting much more than minimal performance, customization options and accessories than the Civic counterparts. I don't want the optional 19" wheels/tires, and available carbon fiber mirror caps, lower side body extensions and rear spoiler. All in all, a great new rendition of the Classic Integra with the nice nostalgic Integra and Acura logos on the bumpers and headlights. Here in Hawaii, it would probably be $40K with the stealership scalping fee. But if I could swing it over the aforementioned Civic offerings, I feel it is well worth the money.

Bring back the linear no fake shifts CVT! Or they should have an option to disable fake shifts at least.

@@BoCObeats I’ve driven this motor with the CVT in the CR-V and it feels incredibly slow. To really get any RPM/Power out of them you have to use a lot of throttle which gives the slow sensation, but that sort of lazy pedal tuning is good for fuel economy and the trade off is welcome to most buyers. Turbo response is less of a CVT thing and more the fact that it’s just a well engineered turbo/motor combination. The turbo spools at 1500rpm which is really appreciated in the manual Si, useful torque and really quick around town. The CVT tuning is very stubborn, it’s constantly nagging you to watch your fuel economy. Hesitant and unresponsive to throttle input, but as soon as you let off the revs shoot down to save on fuel. I get it’s trying to save gas, but the car feels like it’s not on my side. But I’m not the buyer for that sort of thing, even for a daily I prefer hard aggressive shifts like in the dual clutch GTI so I wouldn’t have the appreciation for the smoothness.

I just drove the 6MT Integra and the car really surprised me with it’s overall characteristics. It handles well and feels very solid in both terms of chassis feel and interior quality. I think it’s a perfect daily driver for those that don’t want/need power past 50mph. My biggest gripes are the car’s looks and engine. I think it’s a great looking car, but is it going to look great in 10 years from now? I highly doubt it; it’s too aggressive in it’s styling and this will show in time. The 1.5L surprised me with it’s responsiveness and smoothness (not to be confused with effortless delivery of power which wasn’t apparent to me). Still, it feels like an engine that has to be pushed to the limit every time you want/need power and it left me with the feeling of “it’s quite good, but I want more.” The manual transmission was certainly a highlight: rev hang didn’t seem too bad and the shifter is great (clutch is light and gives some feedback). Overall, I think a 2.0L engine with maybe 230-250hp would have put it more in line with cars such as the GTI or even BMW 230i. I really liked the car, but I think I’m going to wait for a better proposition for my driving needs. My preorder has been canceled so I really hope someone else who appreciates the car will get it! Just a markup heads up: the dealer I test drove with in Florida added $10,000 in dealer added accessories (but no “markup”). Basically new wheels/tires, spoiler, trim, diffuser, and side skirts. Great vid. Yes the noise on this rough pavement comes through but would in any car. I think this is a great car having driven the Honda sport touring hatch a few times with its CVT. What I don’t get is the pricing. I would understand not putting the manual in the base trim to keep from stealing sales from the Si, but that would be in normal times. No way to It steal sales in this market given that Honda cannot meet demand now. And the the top trim with the CVT is a tough price to swallow, compared to the Honda sport touring hatch. But the Integra does look better and the paint choices are more premium. I like this engine and CVT combo at 29-30k but not at 37k. Sure it has more HP than the civic’s tune but not enough to make a huge difference. But I am an Integra fan. I think it comes down to economies of scale. The 1.5T w/t CVT is an existing, mass-produced powertrain that Honda could simply make more of and lower the cost-per-part. The good news is that if I'm right, the Type S, if it should ever exist, will probably just get an Accord 2.0T w/t 10-speed drop for the same reasons. Car manufacturers are generally trying to move to a single engine and single transmission across all models, and then you just tweak it as needed. I'd be interested to see if they build a type S model in the future which would be similar to what you were describing, although I don't know if the awd would be necessary as the original integras were always fwd traditionally. Would be also interesting to see if maybe they would implement the underpinnings of the Civic Type R, but if I had to guess, the way it currently is is porbably all we're gonna get.
@DMCarReviews2 жыл бұрын
@@nicklake2902 That is true, but the older Integra never used a CVT, and didn't resemble the Civic that closely. Also, in today's market there are way too many competitive cars, so they would have to go the extra mile to sway buyers from something like an Elantra N or GTI. If they gave this car a real transmission, 300+hp and AWD, while keeping it under 3500 lbs, it would be a hot seller, offering excellent performance and handling. That center screen is literally out of the Civic, and something that is 10" would be more appropriate. Like they should have at least upgraded the interior styling.
@elenchus2 жыл бұрын
the Type S will very likely have the 2.0T w/t a 10-speed or 6-speed. Honda won't reinvent the wheel just for the "Integra." It's easier to just use existing powertrains and drop them in. Assuming it has the same 250ish horsepower as the Accord, with fairly little weight gain (going from a turbo 4 to a turbo 4, not the giant penalty that the TLX has going from a turbo 4 to a turbo 6), it should end up being a pretty quick car, probably comparable to the GTI.

I was in the same boat choosing between a civic hatchback sport touring and integra a-spec or a-spec tech. Dealer mark-up made the decision much easier since they charge 3k+ above the 31.5k msrp for a civic hb sport touring, which made the price up to 35k, while i can get a a-spec tech cvt at msrp. So the better features easily justified the 2k price difference. Now waiting to get the car. (Civic also needed ~2 weeks to deliver, so that doesn’t matter either)

I think the Jetta GLI is a better value than the Integra. The 7 speed DSG is going to be better than a CVT, and the engine in the integra just doesn’t compare to the competition. Honda/Acura have been killing it lately with their products. They’re the companies who listen and deliver. Toyota and Lexus on the other hand have fallen in terms of reliability due to their numerous recalls. It’s what happens when they tried to cram all the flashy tech.

It's also how the introduction of technology is timed. The late 2010s was a dark era for Honda reliability, but Honda reliability is making a comeback because they introduced new tech several years ago and not just now, so they have had some time with access to data about this new tech. They dealt with tech issues in the past so that they can learn how to deliver the tech reliably now. Meanwhile for Toyota, rather than introducing new tech a few years ago, they're introducing it now, and that's why they have those issues now.

Lol what has Honda been killing? They made the Integra a boat, and put a god awful CVT in it.
