I own my 2023 Acura Integra for about almost 3 months and this is one of the best cars I have owned! I am a Honda guy, 2 previous cars were Civics and I always wanted to have my own manual vehicle! I taught myself and took me about 3 weeks to drive smoothly and now it’s too easy. Wanted the Civic Si or GTI but markups are inside for that car so might as well get me the Integra! The adaptive dampers, lumbar support seats, styling, heated seats, limited slip differential, and it being fun to drive is outstanding 🙌🏿

One thing I really appreciate in this video is how nice the interior looks in black. On the website, the orchid and the red interior options really pop, but the ebony looks really monochromatic and kinda dull. But here, in the bright light of day, the interior textures really do break things up pretty nicely, and it really does seem like a nice place to be. Seems like it might age fairly well too… I love a pop of color in a two-tone interior, don’t get me wrong, but I keep thinking of those late-90s/early-00s Z3 M roadsters and some of those color combos are certainly… a choice 😬

Glad I have the Si…..being 55 (and decidedly not a kid anymore), I do have more disposable income, but can think of other ways to dispose of it than to pay the $7+k for the added features on this integra No hate for those who prefer this, but the Si is a better fit for me.

@@DB-sd3cw time will tell. Think about it this way, assume if they were both the same $ and had the same resale, most people would prefer the integra for its added features (I actually wouldn’t, but that’s off the main point). What happens to that mix if the integra were $1k more? $2k more? Etc. the popularity of the civic may make the mark up be more frequent/higher than that for an integra, thus narrowing the gap. But…..at MSRP to MSRP it’s a no-brainer for me. I’d buy the civic and spend the $7k or $8k on any number of other things I want or need. Years ago I leased a 1998 integra. It was different enough from the civic si (in meaningful ways, not just creature comforts), that I liked it better. I get those who really want heated seats. I barely care about that.

I think this is a nice entry level luxury car, people seem to misunderstand how much things change through time, it looks nothing like the old integra simply because it’s nearly 25 years newer than the old one and nearly 20 years newer than the Rsx, while it would’ve been cool to get a 3 door hatch people have to remember that consumerism dictates what manufacturers do with vehicles not enthusiasts, most people want a 4 door car especially being as big as it is, the integra was always a nicer civic anyways idk why it needs to be anything more than that in the first place, get with the times or be left behind
@JetDriver77
@JetDriver77 2 жыл бұрын
It's not all about consumer demand. Vehicles have grown size due mainly for safety, but manufacturers have also been taking advantage of a loophole in CAFE efficiency standards by inflating the footprint of their vehicles. Smaller cars, while lighter, generally create more drag than longer cars as well and get lower fuel economy on the highway than their larger counterparts.
@Naxatthedoor
@Naxatthedoor 2 жыл бұрын

The issue isn't the power, it's more the lack of low end torque that makes this car feel sluggish, this 1.5T makes good power above 5000rpm, but below 3000rpm there's nobody home with this engine, this engines peak torque isn't until 4100rpm, if it had more low end torque the 200hp would feel like plenty.

Tuning the 1.5t with Hondata was a super easy and relatively cheap (I got the carb legal version for about $500) with no other mods on the 10th gen hatch sport and at +9psi, it made a HUGE difference. A lot of reliable power can be had vs stock out of the 1.5t in my experience I never had a problem. The only thing I wanted was the LSD which this car would solve. Just some food for thought if you want that extra power out of this engine, it can be easily had reliably for around $500.

Notable feature differences between the A-spec versus the type-S, where A-spec is mostly just a feature package above the base, and the type-S is a mechanical upgrade to the A-spec, with exceptions: tS does not feature the engine auto-stop/start feature/button tS does not feature remote engine start tS does not offer optional sunroof, in favor of structural rigidity and weight savings tS does not offer fog lights nor memory driver seat tS features upgraded suspension at all 4 wheels, making the footprint 3" wider in both front and rear and of course, the tS has the 2L engine, which is worth the money if you're already $40K into a "nicer" car.

Coming from a 2009 Civic 5 speed manual-which is still fun compared to Subaru Outback and Honda CRV (driven recently) or various rental cars (low end-)the Integra or Si will actually be fast and powerful. I bought my Civic new Dec 2008 (14 years ago) now @ 230, 000 ORIGINAL Clutch although the master and slave cylinder needed replacement @ 229. NO Engine/Drive train repairs! Same old story Si with dealer markups is a few thousand less than A Spec 6 speed Integra. I had the original Integra (base) lift back manual (bought new). Do I want the extra edge on blasting on canyon roads that the Si has? Yes! Bought the Integra brings some of that excitement-while being more comfortable-getting old enough to appreciate that! Realistically? I wont BE pushing the limits. Thanks for your reviews! BTW: Consumer Reports was spot on-only trouble spots for 2009? PAINT and A/C! One other note...and this is the problem with how Honda trims their Civics and Integras, but in terms of manuals, the real comparison that should be happening is NOT the Civic Si and the Acura Integra A-Spec w/ Technology Package; it should be the Civic Hatchback Sport Touring Manual and the Acura Integra A-Spec w/ Technology Package Manual. Honda has packaged it in such a way that has convoluted what really should be a singular track of progressive upgrades.

If it was all about performance, the Civic Si is just the better car to get between the two. But if you just want a good manual shifting car without losing out the common comforts then I can totally see someone picking the Integra. Honestly, I'd get it too because of the liftback and the sleeker styling but only the Type-S version over the Type-R.

Just from the video, it looks like the cup holders are in a bad place, likely to interfere with your ability to shift, maybe not a big deal for automatic, but maybe deal-breaker for stick shift. In the video, the cup holders are empty, but I have a big water bottle I take everywhere I go. See 6:30 on in video. I thought maybe his forearm would NOT go over the cup holders when shifting, but as you watch the video it seems like, yes, they certainly do, and his arm certainly would have bumped against anything in the cup holders, particularly the front cup holder. Am I missing something?

You give it 320 hp and SH-AWD/ 4WS and a few more features like ventilated /massaging seats with something like the Lexus IS and Acura will have a big-time winner. I personally would like to see them do something special and have a high-revving engine like the old skool Integra and instead of just a Type-S go with something like Type RS for the top-of-the-line model.

That's definitely true, almost 2.5 inches more leg room in the integra back seat over the TLX. I had a 21 TLX, traded for a 22 MDX aspec and now I'm trading that for the integra. The gas milage on the MDX is killing me and don't need that large of a vehicle, I also want to row my own gears again. My wife now had an SUV do the bad mpgs on the MDX are just not with it. This crazy car market is the only way I was able to get out of both the TLX and the MDX leases so quickly with a small amount of equity in them (2k on the MDX). The lease rates are still horrible, but that only going to keep getting worse as rates keep going up. The integra will be a decent daily driver that's still playful with good mpgs to wait out this horrible time to buy a car.

the i30N hatch is so good. Never made it to the states. Only a dimwit company would put a auto start stop on a tiny 1.5 engine (with a manual transmission at that!). It wears down prematurely battery, starter, alternator, engine mounts, not to mention a #1 killer of turbos, oil sludge build up from turning off the engine while the turbine is hot. Turbo needs a minute or two when stopping to cool it off, otherwise it's going to go out at 50K. What possible gas savings can you get out of turning off a 1.5 every single time it stops at a red light or a stop sign. And if you turn it off, it sticks a yellow warning light on the dash to irritate you the entire time. And it comes right back on when the car is driven next time.
