2023 BYD Frigate 07 is a hybrid with a proprietary DM-i (Dual Mode intelligent) power plant, which is modeled after Mitsubishi or Honda systems and can operate in both serial and parallel mode. A 1.5 petrol turbo engine (139 hp, 231 Nm) is installed under the hood, but at low speed it is muffled or operates in generator mode to recharge the traction battery.
