Gimmicks like frame storage and integrated electronics push me away from a bike. How can a door hole in the top tube be as strong as a solid top tube?

I'm happy to see that Canyon has made improvements to the Endurace bike., I bought a 2022 Endurace CFX DI2 Dura-Ace and was quite disappointed overall with the purchase. On the positive side, the bike was well equipped for the price - Dura-Ace 12-speed Di2 with Rotor cranks/power meter and excellent DT Swiss wheelset for a relatively, in terms of 2022, price. On the negative side, the bike , while giving up some performance features vs the Ultimate in geometry and wheel specs is not really comfortable as advertised, hence no gains in true endurance rides over 120km in my experience I wanted a bike with modern technology to replace my 2008 Cervelo R3 and thought I had found it in the 2022 Endurace but was sadly disappointed. The old Cervelo remains noticably more comfortable with virtually identical performance read-outs as measured by results in average speed, power, etc over similar 120+km rides. Perhaps the new seat-tube and other geometrical improvements in the 2023 version will have remedied these issues.

Is it just me or does the hidden tool kit do a really crap job replacing an actual multitool and a saddle bag? I still wouldn't go out without a chain tool, a spare tire (or at least a puncture repair kit), and those levers look nightmarish to use (I have difficulty seating my tire even with proper long parktool levers...). I don't get the purpose of the hidden kit, seems like a waste of space.

I really like the idea of this bike. The endurace has always been a cool endurance bike but this generation hits the nail on the head. Bike manufacturers should build more cool looking, fast bikes that don't break people's backs. Of course if you are super flexible, athletic etc go for the through-and-through race bike if you want! But the mere mortals like me, like the looks of bikes like the ultimate, aeroad, sl7 etc etc, but most endurance bikes look super boring, aren't performance focused. So this feels like a step in the right direction for the general public. Next up: endurance aero bikes and more cool endurance bikes overall!

Whatch out about the terrible after sale service. Especially after 3 years of owning your bike. If yo need a major spare part as a fork, just after this period of time. Canyon will refuse to sell it. Increasing the risk to have to discard your bike if you do not find a proper replacement.

The size small has a stack of 568 and a reach of 375... if that's not endurance, I'd like to know what is in your opinion.
@Pranav_m_Mistry
@Pranav_m_Mistry Жыл бұрын
@@cpac54 Hey! So 568 is about 7-15mm. short of an average 54cm frame size. Otherwise,even with a 568mm stack, if the spacers provided were of about 40mm (like trek) would've been helpful. 15mm spacers leaves any room to get a proper bike fit. Even the regular Endurace has 35 mm spacers. 15 mm Makes it more like a race fit. Now that for some might be ok, but not for high inseam riders like myself. And my comment was only specific to the stack. The reach is appropriate.

@@sleepdeprived9181 Longer than Tour de France? I currently own Endurace 2023, I know what i'm talking about. Yes position on Endurace is more upright! But it leads to excessive pressure on your bottom part! Had to buy longer stem. On a new Endurace you have to replace whole cockpit.
@sleepdeprived9181
@sleepdeprived9181 Жыл бұрын
@@human-pl7kx yes, im talking longer than average tour de france course. 200km above. Btw, I also bought an Endurace just this June. Anything with that distance can hurt your bottom no matter how good your saddle or chamois is. I find that the Endurace stock saddle is not very good, even with short-distance rides though. I changed it up to Power with Mirror, and it was all ok. As for needing a longer stem, maybe your bike size is one size smaller? A balanced weight distribution is certainly better. Endurace 2023 has just been released last week. What they sold earlier this year was the 2022 model.

Have a 2019 Endurace and an Aethos S-Works. If I’m being honest the Endurace is faster (on flat) and more comfortable and a fraction of the price. It’s a Super bike. Shame they are increasing the prices though. That ship has sailed in the current market. CFR is not lighter than the outgoing CF-SLX and the CF-SLX aero is not lighter than the outgoing CF-SL. They both might be marginally more Aero over 40kph. 😂 Like most Endurance riders do that. That said they are still cheaper than many similarly spec’d bikes. A joy to ride.

I bought a CF SLX 9 three months ago (and love it) and nearly had buyer's remorse when I saw this new Endurace. But when I had a deeper look at it, other than the full internal cable routing and top tube storage, I would argue not much has changed. I still have the same DT Swiss ERC 1100 wheels, Dura-Ace groupset (but with Rotor cranks and inspider power meter), that "interesting" seat post, and an aero cockpit. But what I've noticed is that my Endurace was listed as 6.88 kgs. The new ones are heavier and in NZ, $3.5k dearer like for like. Progress maybe... Hmmm...

@@auswi My 2019 Endurace CF-SLX is also sub 7kgs ready to ride (small size) and while I would never say no to it being more aero, probably 5 of those 7 watt saving of the new bike is down to the bars. Hidden brake cables would be nice (I have a SRAM Red equiped bike so no shift cables). As far as 35mm tyres, yawn. Changed out the original 30's when they wore out with 28's and its still a plush enough ride for me while being noticeably more stable in cross winds. This is one bike that won't be moved on. Storage rooms in bike frames are silly. They make a frame heavier, more complicated to produce, therefore more expensive, still leave multiple potential breaking points and add parts you can lose and difficult to replace (as in having to wait weeks until that lid gets delivered). Just ordered a CF SLX 8 model for gravel. Can't wait! I have an Ultimate CF SLX for road so I know how damn good these bikes are.

Same here but slightly worried about how thin that seat tube is, for gravel.

I would love to have one for those long rides (100+ miles)! And I’ll keep my race bike for those shorter rides.

You have the wrong idea, like most people. The endurance bikes don't help much more on a longer ride. They help those riders who RIDE EVERY SINGLE DAY, for HOURS a day. With a bike like this, your body will not hurt from day to day and you will be able to rider 200+ days IN A ROW without fail. Source - me

Haha it's so so sad this colorway is not available on the midtier models, looks gorgeous!

Yes yes yes. Canyon always disappoint with their colour choices. I’d literally just accepted that I’d go for the previous grey version, after nearly a year of umming and ahhing… and now they changed it. Don’t like either of the mid range colours. Just dull.

The combination of a relatively short reach and an unswappable cockpit ends it for me.

Yeah but this cockpit is adjustable, so just get the size frame you want and just adjust the handlebar width to whatever you want

@@Penalist it sounds like, you may need to start looking at the ultimate then. They may have the same cockpit but the frame will probably be longer
@Penalist

@@gritynity Correct, but than I won’t have an endurance type stack nor the corresponding lay-up of the frame, and even the Ultimate is, essentially, too short with the (for me personally) short stems (likewise with the Aeroad). My actual point is (therefore) that Canyon has become a no-go brand for me, because there is no possibility of getting a personalized set-up, not even after-market.

@@Penalist that's a shame, canyon seems like the only company that to be trying to make their bikes more flexible to consumers and it looks like they have a ways to go. I hope you find something that will fit you properly

Do not buy this bike. I bought this bike - Endurace CF SLX 8 Di2 Aero, and it arrived with such an ugly paint job. Numbers are visible on the frame, and the bike has so many white spots, as if it wasn't properly painted. I paid €5,258.80 for the bike and got such crap. All Canyon managed to respond is that it's a special color, that it's a unique bike... and so on. I have seen many other bikes with the same color - Stealth - and none of them was in such a condition as this Canyon. Shame. For such money. Think twice! If you want, I can show you pictures. I have a lot of photos.

Would be great if they have a proper aerobar to fit their aero cockpit.

I truly hate to mention this but, this bike looks very simular to my open mold endurance frame from velobuild. I had built a year and a half ago. Using a full mecanical 105 group set and used Ican wheels and other parts . It cost me $2000. For everything. Light, fast, great handling, and very comfortable. What more do you want.

Face palm....backwards steps from earlier iterations (I have the 2018 version) -less aero and less comfortable: higher stack height with very limited adjustability to dial fit vs non integrated stem -more unsafe: one fall and I wouldn't trust those bars,better watch those torque settings -pricier: that idiotic carbon cockpit blows up the cost

I own a 2024 CFR. I can confirm that the top tube storage area is of a stupid design. I couldn't even get two different sets of plastic tire levers into the hole because the hole is not long enough to slide the levers in. Nore can I fit my tiny multitool in there. It would have been nice if I could have put in all that was needed for a tire change in the storage compartment, but even if I bought the canyon tire levers (or cut mine down), I couldn't put a spare tube in there. Currently I have two Co2 cartridges, a small inflater head, and spare cash in the top tube. So not useless. However, I still need a seat bag to put my spare tube and multitool. I guess it would allow me to use a smaller seat bag if I wanted to get one. It doesn’t take away anything from the bike, but it doesn't add much.

No sale - cables routed through the headset is dumb as dog doo doo. Makes cables go through all sorts of bends that not only makes cable replacement a pita, it ruins shift performance and feel. Giant have ruined the Defy with this nonsense as well sadly...

Many endurance riders would want the option for aerobars. Also 1.5 cm of spacers is not enough for real long endurance rides. Clearly a good option for mid distance racing. Not what I would consider real endurance but for most it’s probably fine.

I always wanted to have the Aeroad. I loved the design and the sharp look. But for riding longer tracks and also with some mountains the Endurace is simply the better choice. And now with the same handlebar, as the Aeroad as the driver, you „see the exact same“ as on the Aeroad 😍 love it
