Have a 2019 Endurace and an Aethos S-Works. If I’m being honest the Endurace is faster (on flat) and more comfortable and a fraction of the price. It’s a Super bike. Shame they are increasing the prices though. That ship has sailed in the current market. CFR is not lighter than the outgoing CF-SLX and the CF-SLX aero is not lighter than the outgoing CF-SL. They both might be marginally more Aero over 40kph. 😂 Like most Endurance riders do that. That said they are still cheaper than many similarly spec’d bikes. A joy to ride.
@auswi Жыл бұрын
I bought a CF SLX 9 three months ago (and love it) and nearly had buyer's remorse when I saw this new Endurace. But when I had a deeper look at it, other than the full internal cable routing and top tube storage, I would argue not much has changed. I still have the same DT Swiss ERC 1100 wheels, Dura-Ace groupset (but with Rotor cranks and inspider power meter), that "interesting" seat post, and an aero cockpit. But what I've noticed is that my Endurace was listed as 6.88 kgs. The new ones are heavier and in NZ, $3.5k dearer like for like. Progress maybe... Hmmm...

@@auswi trust me, there will be no bike shops refusing to service or replace your head set bearings, plenty won’t touch the new integrated one. I'm happy to see that Canyon has made improvements to the Endurace bike., I bought a 2022 Endurace CFX DI2 Dura-Ace and was quite disappointed overall with the purchase. On the positive side, the bike was well equipped for the price - Dura-Ace 12-speed Di2 with Rotor cranks/power meter and excellent DT Swiss wheelset for a relatively, in terms of 2022, price. On the negative side, the bike , while giving up some performance features vs the Ultimate in geometry and wheel specs is not really comfortable as advertised, hence no gains in true endurance rides over 120km in my experience I wanted a bike with modern technology to replace my 2008 Cervelo R3 and thought I had found it in the 2022 Endurace but was sadly disappointed. The old Cervelo remains noticably more comfortable with virtually identical performance read-outs as measured by results in average speed, power, etc over similar 120+km rides. Perhaps the new seat-tube and other geometrical improvements in the 2023 version will have remedied these issues.

I own a 2024 CFR. I can confirm that the top tube storage area is of a stupid design. I couldn't even get two different sets of plastic tire levers into the hole because the hole is not long enough to slide the levers in. Nore can I fit my tiny multitool in there. It would have been nice if I could have put in all that was needed for a tire change in the storage compartment, but even if I bought the canyon tire levers (or cut mine down), I couldn't put a spare tube in there. Currently I have two Co2 cartridges, a small inflater head, and spare cash in the top tube. So not useless. However, I still need a seat bag to put my spare tube and multitool. I guess it would allow me to use a smaller seat bag if I wanted to get one. It doesn’t take away anything from the bike, but it doesn't add much.

Top tube storage actually makes more sense to me, down tubes are the primary contributor to stiffness as it directly links the bottom bracket to the head tube, i.e. it would take more frame material to compensate structural rigidity if storage was designed into the down tube, thus making this option inherently lighter. Bike manufacturers should build more cool looking, fast bikes that don't break people's backs. Of course if you are super flexible, athletic etc go for the through-and-through race bike if you want! But the mere mortals like me, like the looks of bikes like the ultimate, aeroad, sl7 etc etc, but most endurance bikes look super boring, aren't performance focused. Not a quill stem. Integrated handlebar (center section) and stem. I agree it is problematic as you can't just leave the steerer tube at full length and adjust the stem up and down. You have to cut the steerer tube to adjust the height, and there's no going back. But, having said that, most of us never change our stem height once we get it set up the way we want it.

Why on earth would you need CFR endurance bike!!!! CFR is Canyon factory RACING!!!! And Endurance bike is anything but racing!!!! Cheapest Canyon Aeroad will slaughter this CFR and will cost you twice less!!!!
@roadcc Жыл бұрын
It might “slaughter” it in a wind tunnel but we don’t think fast bikes with geometry that actually suits the general public are in anyway a bad thing. And it is called the EnduRACE after all

Slaughter in a bike race on flats, but not for ultra-long distance riding and hills.

It will slaughter your lower back that's for sure

@@sleepdeprived9181 Longer than Tour de France? I currently own Endurace 2023, I know what i'm talking about. Yes position on Endurace is more upright! But it leads to excessive pressure on your bottom part! Had to buy longer stem. On a new Endurace you have to replace whole cockpit.
@sleepdeprived9181 Жыл бұрын
@@human-pl7kx yes, im talking longer than average tour de france course. 200km above. Btw, I also bought an Endurace just this June. Anything with that distance can hurt your bottom no matter how good your saddle or chamois is. I find that the Endurace stock saddle is not very good, even with short-distance rides though. I changed it up to Power with Mirror, and it was all ok. As for needing a longer stem, maybe your bike size is one size smaller? A balanced weight distribution is certainly better. Endurace 2023 has just been released last week. What they sold earlier this year was the 2022 model.

Has anyone read the negative reviews on Canyon? I'm not just talking about a few nay-sayers. There are hundreds of them and they all have the same problem. No after sales support, no responsibility for damaged/badly packed bikes. I was keen on their rim brake Endurace, but after reading the trust pilot reviews I bailed. Their marketing model is crap.

This geometry is not technically endurance. Especially the lower stack with barely any spacers. No room to dial in a fit.
@cpac54 Жыл бұрын
The size small has a stack of 568 and a reach of 375... if that's not endurance, I'd like to know what is in your opinion.
@Pranav_m_Mistry Жыл бұрын
@@cpac54 Hey! So 568 is about 7-15mm. short of an average 54cm frame size. Otherwise,even with a 568mm stack, if the spacers provided were of about 40mm (like trek) would've been helpful. 15mm spacers leaves any room to get a proper bike fit. Even the regular Endurace has 35 mm spacers. 15 mm Makes it more like a race fit. Now that for some might be ok, but not for high inseam riders like myself. And my comment was only specific to the stack. The reach is appropriate.

The top tube storage is not a plus in my mind. It seems an asinine attempt to impress. The rest of the bike looks great.

Will the pro teams ride this at next years Paris Roubaix race? I bet not
@roadcc Жыл бұрын
Unsure why they would…the whole point of an endurance bike is surely so us mere mortals are comfy on long rides, the pros don’t seem to have any problem holding super aggressive positions for 3 weeks at a time

Face palm....backwards steps from earlier iterations (I have the 2018 version) -less aero and less comfortable: higher stack height with very limited adjustability to dial fit vs non integrated stem -more unsafe: one fall and I wouldn't trust those bars,better watch those torque settings -pricier: that idiotic carbon cockpit blows up the cost
